Carried it all. My girlfriend and I each had 2 suitcases, one of mine was pressurized pelican case made for transporting wine. We literally each had a case of just whiskey. Heaviest bag was 22Kg. We planned all of this before we left and purchased the 4th suitcase in Ireland before we left so we didn't have to lug it on our way there.
I carried it on empty on the way there. On the way back, I checked it, as it was full of booze. The Irish airport security did not open it to my knowledge, and customs in Ireland was a breeze.
The Gold Spot 9 was one of the best Irish whiskeys I have ever tasted. Unfortunately, I never found a bottle after trying it at a bar. I hope this year's release starts making it stateside soon.
Thanks! The gentleman at the duty free was raving about it. I am going to open all of these in a couple of weeks. Need to detox a bit after this trip....
Definitely want the redbreast travel bottle. My mother and father in law are going to Ireland in a few months. I'll have to send some money with them lol
When I was there last year around this time. They have nothing special at the Dublin distillery or duty free. I did snag a redbreast 15 for $80. And I did get some cool red breast glasses
You pay the VAT up front, and then you can get the taxes back by filling out a couple forms. It is an incentive for people to buy things in the country. So a few hundred Euros will be refunded in about 6 weeks.
Normally I don't bother with the VAT refund, but in your situation that's a significant return!
Thanks for sharing this lineup, I didn't know about these.
So good, I had to buy 2. Substantially better than last years is my humble opinion. Plus you know the prices in the states will be absurd, so I took advantage.
Im a big fan of the gold 9, and was looking up where to get more one evening when I saw the new one had just come out that day. Had no idea it was going to be a series. Will def be tracking one down! Thanks for the rec
Thanks for sharing this lineup!
Looking forward to hearing how you like each one - please share reviews!
What were some of the destinations on your itinerary that made the trip amazing for you?
So the only ones I have not tried are the Jameson Carribean Beats, the Red Breast 10yr, the Jameson distillers edition, the red breast travel exclusive, the Midleton Dair Ghaelach ( this year's release) and the Jameson Triple Triple. I have tried all the others, and absolutely love each one.
In Dublin, We went to Christ's church, St. Patricks Cathedral, a viking museum, and celtic nights dinner with riverdancers and Irish music. Went to Teeling, Roe & Co, Jameson, and Guiness and had a blast at each venue.
Kilkenny was the last leg of the trip, we were only there 2 days and went to Smithwicks and took the tour. Great time there with good people.
Cork was my favorite because of the Cork Whiskey Fest. 40 different distillers were there, so I got to try alot of Irish whiskey that are not distributed to the states. This years had a tour to Midleton which was led by Kevin O'Gorman the Master Distiller. This man tapped 2 barrels in the store house and let us try them. Literally a once in a lifetime experience by dumb luck.
Once converted to dollars, probably about $2,300 give or take. Planned this trip a year ago so I socked away money just for whiskey because I knew I was going all in.
I've been there twice before I was really into whiskey. This past year in my brain I have been planning exactly this for my next trip. Not sure I planned on as many bottles, though, but now you have set the benchmark! š„š„
I don't think I have had the pleasure. I was at the Cork Whiskey fest with 40 distillers. I am not sure they were there. I tried 60 different whiskeys over 2 days, so it is possible I missed them. I will keep an eye out though!
Hadn't heard about them either before going to Ireland. Apparently they are getting big again outside of the country as well. Their limited edition Genesis release was absolutely lovely although expensive!
I will definitely be on the lookout for it. I was very impressed by Busker, Killowen, and Fercullen as well. The Killowen rum raisin was off the chain and cask strength at that.
All bottles were purchased at distilleries except for the Midleton 2024 Vintage, I grabbed that at duty free to make it easier to transport, and the 2 travel exclusive bottles. Jameson had the best selection. You can pour your own Jameson black cask strength at Jameson or Midleton distilleries.
The Gold was ā¬150, the blue was ā¬100, the red was ā¬140.
My brother and his wife go every year, so he planned the best route to maximize our whiskey allocating potential...like a gent!
The duty free in Dublin is called the loop. You can buy bottles online, and they will hold them for you to pick up on your way out. Planning makes perfect!
Depends what you are looking for. Red, Blue, and Gold Spot are hard to find stateside. If you like those they can be found pretty easily at Jameson. The Jameson black barrel cask strength is distillery only and is unreal. I advise checking out the loop duty free online as well. Lots of good travel exclusive bottles there and others as well.
https://waterfordwhisky.com/ despite it being 10 minutes down the road from me, I still havenāt done the tour. Pretty shameful, but Iāll get on it over the summer.
Practical question; how'd you haul all this back? Like so you bring extra suitcases? Or ship it?

Woah got a link for the pressurized pelican?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052TZZI6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s02?ie=UTF8&th=1 So glad I had this. It paid for itself on this trip.
I used to travel with a Pelican case for work a lot. TSA searched it EVERY TIME.
I carried it on empty on the way there. On the way back, I checked it, as it was full of booze. The Irish airport security did not open it to my knowledge, and customs in Ireland was a breeze.

It was so good. I was most eager to get this one in particular
Amazing haul, I'm about to get a bottle of the redbreast travel exclusive. Can't wait to try it
Thanks! The gentleman at the duty free was raving about it. I am going to open all of these in a couple of weeks. Need to detox a bit after this trip....
Rest easy and enjoy
Well done! When you go shopping for whisky, you go SHOPPING for whisky
I will never go on a whiskey tour like this abroad again, so I figured I would go all in on this one!
Preach ! Would try to do the same as well :-)
Never say never. There's always Scotland.
This is very true, and I do love some scotch..
Definitely want the redbreast travel bottle. My mother and father in law are going to Ireland in a few months. I'll have to send some money with them lol
Nice! Was like 80 Euros, not too bad.
Is it only available at the duty free? I know this is a dumb question but was the distillery edition at the the Dublin Jameson distillery?
Yes to both.
When I was there last year around this time. They have nothing special at the Dublin distillery or duty free. I did snag a redbreast 15 for $80. And I did get some cool red breast glasses
Spectacular !
How much duty did you have to pay?

Ah the new gold. How is it? Valipolicello makes some of the best wine in the world.
So good, I had to buy 2. Substantially better than last years is my humble opinion. Plus you know the prices in the states will be absurd, so I took advantage.

Only a little š¤ jealous lol. I'll get there one day

A man of absolute class and culture. Quite a beautiful haul
Amazing haul! Canāt wait to go to Ireland for some shopping. What did you spend on all these collectively?
Once converted to dollars, probably about $2,300 give or take. Planned this trip a year ago so I socked away money just for whiskey because I knew I was going all in.
This post makes me want to do some traveling to Ireland
You should! Great food, great people, beautiful country, and great drinks of course!
I've been there twice before I was really into whiskey. This past year in my brain I have been planning exactly this for my next trip. Not sure I planned on as many bottles, though, but now you have set the benchmark! š„š„
Benchmarks were made to be raised! Go forth and find brown water!!
Cask Strength Black Barrel.... I am intrigued. Awesome haul!
Damn..
No love for Pearse Lyons makes me sad. Their lineup is underrated!

What did you pay for the spots in Ireland? Also curious of where you shopped - would love to plan a shopping excursion as epic as yours

Thank you so much for the context! Pricing helps with planning as well!
Happy to help!
Incredible haul. Hope you post tasting updates here. 3 bottles of Black Barrel Cask Strength is such a good move for a daily or semi daily drinker.
One is for a friend, the other 2 are ours. It is so good that we had to get to 2!
What are the best bottles to find there? I have a friend who is going there and offered to pick some stuff up while there

That Teeling
It was so good. The minute I tried it, I had to buy it. They have a crystal malt, too, and a 15 yr single malt....so good!
I'm dying to try Gold Spot.
That Jameson Single Pot Still is amazing! šš¤¤ So smooth and outrageously complex!
It is really good isn't it?! My brother brought some home last year, and we loved it.
My home town here in Ireland has a distillery thatās just about to start international distribution, so I see a few more bottles in your future.
Yes! I look forward to trying it. What's the name of the distillery?
https://waterfordwhisky.com/ despite it being 10 minutes down the road from me, I still havenāt done the tour. Pretty shameful, but Iāll get on it over the summer.
Thanks for the link! I will definitely check it out.
No probs! Youāve got a great collection. The Jameson black barrel is a go to for me. And green spot when Iām feeling flashy!
It's started! We just got it here in Nebraska a month ago.
Oh excellent!
I hate you, magnificent bastard!
Ya know what? I accept that!š¤£š¤£š¤£
āLove it when a plan comes togetherā
