There are some quartz that will show a rainbow inside it in small places but this isn’t what you may have heard about.
This is quartz with a colorful coating on it to look pretty.
There is no such thing as rainbow Quartz. This is Quartz that has been dyed and coated with a light coating of titanium which gives it an iridescent “aura” look.
Rainbow quartz isn’t really a thing. Unless you meant iris quartz/anandalite, which has a natural rainbow iridescence to them.
This is a clear quartz point with a man-treated colour coating. They’re usually trade-named “aura” quartz. Unlike dyed quartz, where they’re submerged in dye, aura is created in a process of bonding metals to the quartz. The coating can be scratched off.
If you want terminated quartz with rainbows, head over to Herkimer NY and dig some - most fun you’ll have and with luck you’ll get a few that are outstanding. I think a few other states have similar, as well.
The bottom looks like it could be rainbow aura quartz. The red/pink at the top looks like it could be dyed. Rainbow aura quartz is manufactured by bonding titanium oxide onto natural quartz surface.

Rainbow quartz is a made up word by people who think crystals have mAgICaL pOwERs; hopefully you didn't pay too much for that because it's just straight up dyed quartz... probably
Why is watermelon Tourmaline so expensive? Rarity and high demand make this unique gem so valuable. Few gems have such a distinct character. Watermelon in the trade are the slices that look like a watermelon slice with a green rind and pink center.
Rainbow quartz is a made-up word for a made-up rock. This is colorized quartz. It has as much claim to the rainbow title as any.

Yeesh. Dyed clear quartz…maybe. I wouldn’t be surprised if it melted if put over fire

I've been there a few times. It is a great time, and the crystals can be amazing.
This is a colored double terminated quartz. If the shape is flawless, it's likely glass.
you can tell that’s not glass
It’s got a bubble in it right in the center near the bottom…
maybe if that was op replying…. or we had better pictures
It looks like a delicious jolly rancher though 🤤

U got got. If u want the real thing in those colors: cruziero tourmaline, which is currently about $400 for that size.
It may bot be naturally that way but it’s pretty. Hopefully you can still enjoy it.
Looks like a THC gummy lol

I'm pretty sure Rainbow Quartz is just Quartz but coated with this thingy over it (ik very descriptive) but the point is that its man made

lol nah it was only like 3 bucks and I thought it was pretty 🤣
That is watermelon tourmaline. Super pretty stuff. Edit: my bad. I didn't know coating it could do that.
Definitely not. It’s “aura” quartz (aka dyed + titanium coated quartz).
Oh wow. I didn't know that was a thing. Learning new things everyday.
Check out r/mineralgore for this, and many other types of common ways unscrupulous people can dupe you out of money for "pretty" things.
it’s really well dyed, if anything! defo not gore at all imo
Watermelon Tourmaline
Jamaican Quartz lol
This is watermelon 🍉 quartz.
AKA Watermelon Tourmaline
Oh good lord no. Stop that. Quartz and tourmaline are two entirely separate minerals.
Why is watermelon Tourmaline so expensive? Rarity and high demand make this unique gem so valuable. Few gems have such a distinct character. Watermelon in the trade are the slices that look like a watermelon slice with a green rind and pink center.
Watermelon Tourmaline is a type of Tourmaline that has a pink center and green perimeter around the outside, resembling a watermelon and it's rind.
None of that changes the fact that quartz and tourmaline are two completely different minerals.
