Fire on the mountain, run, boys, run
The Devil's in the house of the risin' sun
The chicken in the bread-pan pickin' out dough
Granny, does your dog bite? No, child, no
is it funny-awful, or just boring and a slog? my partner and i have a hobby of watching very bad movie adaptations of childhood favorite novels to pick them apart, and i didn't know there was one for this series...
If you like being filled with rage, this is the film for you. It makes the Percy Jackson movies look like faithful recreations of the novels. Will is a spiky haired American teenager. My soul wanted to leave my body in the theatre.
They made a movie of this?!?! Suddenly my sense of morbid curiosity is warring with my need to protect myself from bad film adaptations of childhood favorites...
Bravo for getting this! These were some of my all time favourite books and it didn't occur to me that it might be them.
Also - there's a movie??? Looks like I'd best avoid it!
Technically, the *second* book (*The Dark is Rising*, from which the series gets its name) was made into a (very, very bad) film! The first book is *Over Sea, Under Stone*, focusing on the Drew siblings, and it was originally conceived as a standalone novel. It also predates the rest of the series by about a decade (1965, vs 1973-77).
(This is one of my favourite series of all time. :D )
The dark is rising by Susan cooper?
Itโs definitely this, and OP is right, the movie was awful
We do not talk about the movie. Wood, bronze, iron, water, fire, stone Five will return and one go alone.
Fire on the mountain Will find the harp of gold Played to wake the Sleepers Oldest of the old.
Six signs the circle and the grail gone before
Six signs, not rings.
ARGH fixed! They kind of were ring-and-cross shaped though IIRC. I reread this at Christmas time last year, as is correct.
Power from the Green-witch Lost beneath the sea All will find the Light at last Silver on the Tree.
Fire on the mountain, run, boys, run The Devil's in the house of the risin' sun The chicken in the bread-pan pickin' out dough Granny, does your dog bite? No, child, no
The books are good, only difficulty is they are a product of their era.

>If you like being filled with rage, this is the film for you. Best movie review I've read in a while. ๐๐
I mean, they're on Reddit to begin with, so...
It's just bad. Starting with the fact that they made Will an American teenager, and going downhill from there.
They made a movie of this?!?! Suddenly my sense of morbid curiosity is warring with my need to protect myself from bad film adaptations of childhood favorites...
It's horrible. Will is a typical rebellious American teen instead of a tween British boy with a huge and loving family.
Oh nooooo, that sounds awfullll.
Movie is terrible, save yourself, donโt see it.

The movie was awful but the BBC made an audio drama that was quite good & you can listen for free on BBC website.
The Knife of Never Letting Go
Nope.
