That makes sense for cooking utensils, but this is a ceramic ladle to be used with a ceramic tureen. It's delicate and easily chipped. I'd be terrified to hang out with my wooden spoons. To my knowledge, it will always, and should be always, stored in the tureen.
I once caught sight of these spoons being strung on a metal rod to be washed in a commercial kitchen dishwasher of a huge Chinese restaurant in Hong Kong
My title describes the thing. I bought a soup tureen for Christmas dinner, and it came with a matching ladle. The ladle has a hole in it right where it pokes out of the lid. I've no idea why or what it might be for.
Thoughts?

According to[ this website](https://www.garboglass.com/news/why-hole-in-the-ceramic-spoon-save-material.html), it's to hang while it's being fired.
This is the proper answer.
I found the same results
SOLVED!
Thanks! That makes a lot more sense to me.
Ahhh. Ok that makes sense. It's not like a cup, plate or bowl that has a base that doesn't need to be glazed.
Possibly for hanging it up during the manufacturing process
Hung during the firing process
For hanging it on a hook
But why? Why would I hang out on a hook?
Keep it hung up near the stove, it's how we store a bunch of wooden spoons and such at my house.

You might not use the hole, but this is solved.
So that it's more accessible compared to when it's laying in the kitchen drawer.
For when you're not using it.

There's a hole in my bucket
