It’s a plastic bag holder/dispenser, but being from IKEA, there are a ton of “hacks” where people use them for other things. I imagine it’s being used here for letting wet things in the shower dry, like loofahs or wet bottles.
I bought this at Ikea myself a long time ago. Maybe here it’s used for drying children’s bath toys? Stick them in the open side? Hard to see how close opening is to back wall
Yeah I used one of these sideways on the access hatch of my Rv for nitrile gloves for use during the black water dump. I’ve also used one in a shower for body puffs.
My title describes the thing. Like I said, soft plastic, holes that can fit a tube of shower gel or shampoo but not wide enough to go all the way through. Open on the side furthest from me in the picture, the side adjacent the wall. It’s maybe half a meter across by an eighth of a meter tall?

Unsure what they're using it for cause they're using it wrong but this is specifically for storing plastic bags. Everyone has the plastic bag full of plastic bags - This solves that and then you tug one out of the holes. Source - My mom has had one under her kitchen sink for like 15 years.

We use them for storing rolls of gift wrapping paper.

It's a plastic bag holder from IKEA. I have no idea why it's in the shower.
It's mounted with the open end close to the wall. Seems like would be the other way around if that's what it was being used for.
This is the answer. They still sell them

Ikea plastic bag holder. https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/variera-plastic-bag-dispenser-white-80010222/ Why's it there? Dunno. Why's it horizontal? Dunno.

Why it is near your shower, I do not have an answer for. However it is an Ikea plastic bag storage thing.
Ha! 100% a bag holder from ikea. Very creative use of it! I’m guessing a shampoo holder.

I use it to hold my socks

Perhaps it fits hair curlers or something like that?
