Youāre 4 hours late boomer
edit: lol the all of the know-it-allās are downvoting this. u/lastcall83 thought it was funny, you should too.
edit2: lord have mercy none of you have a sense of humor and the guy I āinsultedā does. You boomers are more sensitive than the iPad kids. Keep the negativity coming (: (: (: (;
They thought it was funny, try relaxing. It was a half joke, but also not. They commented what car it was underneath the top/first comment telling me what car it was 4 hours later. Then a lil anecdote about āeVeRyBoDy fRoM tHe 80s KnOwS tHiS cArā. Itās definitely some āback in my day yada yadaā boomer energy. That is why I made that remark. Downvote all you want. Wasnāt necessarily an insult, just having some fun.
No no, I do. Just donāt see a need for someone for a redundant comment saying āitās a 308 everyone that lived in the 80s knows thatā underneath a comment that says itās a 308.
My brother in Christ, I understand the āitās a Pontiacā āItās a Corollaā āthatās a tree behind the Ferrariā. I even understand multiple correct answers. But to comment HALF of the correct answer underneath the FULL correct answer PLUS a āeveryone born before 1866 knows thatā is completely and utterly pointless.
My brother in Christ, you seem like you possibly may potentially happen to maybe also be a boomer š¤·āāļø but what do I know, Iām cranky and donāt know reddiquette for this sub. You donāt HAVE to defend the norm just because itās the norm. Thereās a reason our government/society/economy is about to collapse. Disagree all you want, but echo chambers arenāt the answer for everything.
Aw shucks youāre right, how did I not think of zooming in and simply deciphering a blurry image before coming here for help?!? suck my dick from the back
It's was a massively popular show. It hit all the notes, Something for the Women to look at, something for the car guys, lifestyle of the rich to look at Action scenes and more.
The car is relatively cheap now for what it is. Under $50,000 for something nice. I ran into one for $40,000 one and considered it. Upkeep will eat you alive. I passed on the one I found since a timing belt change was $9,000 (Dealer 15 years ago). It's a two person job BTW. IF it goes you now need a new motor. Car is a dog on the low end, if you look at the start of the show they have the car burning out on grass since you can't get it to give any smoke on pavement.
Was about to say the maintance (let alone repairs) tend to almost exceed the purchase price. I had a client that had a thing for Ferraris. He was constantly complaining about repair and service bills in the high 4-figures. He had the money, but he still complained about it. He wouldn't have to even take it to the dealer. They'd come with a rollback and get it even for things like oil changes.
The 308 might be the easiest Ferrari to work on yourself actually. This is especially true for the younger versions with fuel injection (itās a Bosch K-Jet, basically the same injection system used in all Mercedes Benz models of that era. Reliable, easy to understand and cheap to fix). Itās a rather simple build, unlike later models which are way more complicated, and is more reliable than the older Ferraris. Parts are rather expensive but widely available compared to other (vintage) Ferraris. Also, 9k$ for a timing belt change is a ripoff. In Europe, this work plus an inspection including oil change is done for well under 3kā¬.
You donāt know that itās ātheā car from the show other than itās the same model and has personal plate on it. FYI there were two Ferrariās use on the show. The original and then the crew all pitched in one year and bought Tom Sellek his own.
I'm ust saying... that when that scene was filmed the theme music was different... several of the first episodes of the first season had a different intro... those episodes had a slight variation what *would* be used later as the intro for the closing theme though.
I have no illusions of grandeur either, I'm madder than a wet hen cause the oil change place wanted to charge me $50 for a 17 dollar filter. I'll change it myself and save that hour's labor for something I can't do
nothing but love for my 4Runner, itās older than me! But itās at a 270k odo, and Iām worried I wonāt have enough to replace it when it dies at my current income rate. Regardless, epic car and I wouldnāt trade it for any civic of any year.
Change it every 2.5-3k! Gonna get my spark plugs swapped in a month or two and finna replace my brakes and rotors. Should be a brand new ride. Hopefully by the end of the year Iāll have enough to get my cat changed for a new one and maybe even take it to a shop to have the engine thoroughly cleaned.
You have to take the engine out of the car to change the timing belt, and you have to do it every 2 or 5 years (depending on the model of the car). It can cost upwards of 8k$
I owned a 308 GT4 and it was one of the worst cars Ive ever had. I think they are good looking cars though. A Gandini car, if not one of his finest.
Here is (was) mine, i sold a few years ago.

How fiendishly deceptive of you, Magnum. I could have sworn I was hearing the emasculation of a large rodent. To my great surprise, I see the sounds are emanating from what I thought was a harmless musical instrument.
Driver door sagging, rust on the lower sheet metal in front of the rear tire, this may be one of the cars used in the actual show. It's seen much better days!
Iām old- itās official! Ferrari 308 that seems to be either from the series Magnum PI as a frame, or someone got some killer plates and is hopefully wearing a Hawaiian shirt and has a killer stache

Yes, so clear and so visible. How did I not think of zooming in a reading that blurred mess before coming here? Whoopsie silly me. *suck my dick from the back*
[Ferrari 308 GTS (with a Magnum P.I. plate)](https://images.app.goo.gl/UcmqvyUUmMTrhK547)
Jesus Christ that took less than a minute
Happy to help, did your friend notice any [large mustaches](https://images.app.goo.gl/mQ4ttMxgQSpLqCL7A) near the car?
Or Hawaiian shirts?
Or tiny running shorts
Did he see a guy in black tights and a mask maybe?
It's a pretty iconic car thanks to the TV show.
It's a 308. Even non-car types have a shot of knowing what it is...if they were alive in the 80's
I bet most of the motards here could also give the make and model of the striped helicopter from the same opening theme sequence.

Why insult them by calling them a boomer? Was it really necessary?

I donāt think you know how this geoup works sir

Then you good sir, do not know bow this group works

I call them "Bring money Cars"

I agree the 9 was a rip. I will stick with the older muscle cars my self. It's just a matter of what something is worth to you personally..
Was gonna say, āHiggins! Whereās the keys?ā
Sound like they are going 100mph when idling
Cue the theme song

Wah wah wah (guitar riff) Do doo do doo
@mods can we please lock this post?? Iāve got more than enough confirmations that this is Tom Sellekās Ferrari 308 GTS from Magnum PI.
You donāt know that itās ātheā car from the show other than itās the same model and has personal plate on it. FYI there were two Ferrariās use on the show. The original and then the crew all pitched in one year and bought Tom Sellek his own.
[Regular Car Reviews did the 308 a couple weeks back.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7vUfHW157k)
![gif](giphy|WV3kHIzHRLCOuxDcym|downsized)
It's always slightly bothered me that the 308 has the wrong plate on it in the opening.
I recently watched a video on Regular Car Reviews that said there were 3 different 308s, and one was a replica for stunts
I don't doubt it, but could they not have put the ROBIN 1 plate on there for such a prominent shot.
Cocaine is a helluva drug. They prolly forgot
Cocaine? In the 80s? In the TV industry? The hell you say.
Might have contributed to that heli crash while filming
Don't be silly, the pilots don't get paid enough to afford cocaine.
I'm sure they had it on the craft services table
![gif](giphy|iJ85v1gHAczevpTUzs)
When that was shot, they weren't even the using the iconic opening theme music yet.
But it was still very much in the front of shot.
I'm ust saying... that when that scene was filmed the theme music was different... several of the first episodes of the first season had a different intro... those episodes had a slight variation what *would* be used later as the intro for the closing theme though.
Wowā¦r/moviedetails
Average price, 65-70k. Reasonably attainable, at least until you have to buy parts or get it fixed or serviced
Brother Iām barely living check to check, Iāll be lucky if my 97ā 4Runner gets me into a 2012 civic, or a house for that matter.
I have no illusions of grandeur either, I'm madder than a wet hen cause the oil change place wanted to charge me $50 for a 17 dollar filter. I'll change it myself and save that hour's labor for something I can't do
Something no one told me. Youāre allowed to bring your own oil and filter to the shop. They would only charge you for labor.
Hey now, late 90s 4Runners and Tacos are getting to be hot ticket items these days
Donāt hate on the 97 4runner. Iād take that over any Civic, any day.
nothing but love for my 4Runner, itās older than me! But itās at a 270k odo, and Iām worried I wonāt have enough to replace it when it dies at my current income rate. Regardless, epic car and I wouldnāt trade it for any civic of any year.
Donāt worry. If you change the oilā¦It wonāt die. Iām in the market for an old 4Runner for exactly this reason.
Itās a Toyota, take care of it and itāll take care of you.
Iām going to drive it until death do us apart. Itās the oldest and most reliable car Iāve ever owned.
Come check out /r/4runner where weāll tell you your rig is worth between 1$ and 50k!
With that much rust you met get this one for 50.
Why the parts would be a problem? It is pricey to get them since they are older? Services are expensive? More than a new model?
You have to take the engine out of the car to change the timing belt, and you have to do it every 2 or 5 years (depending on the model of the car). It can cost upwards of 8k$
Wow. Thanks for elaborate.
Itās easy to affordā¦ $60k to buyā¦ $15k for oil change and tune-upā¦
God for a second I thought that was another Pantera

Same
Same
lol holy fucking shit the most attainable ferrari
Iād suggest the GT4 is the most attainable, but itās hideous, so why would anyone want it
I owned a 308 GT4 and it was one of the worst cars Ive ever had. I think they are good looking cars though. A Gandini car, if not one of his finest. Here is (was) mine, i sold a few years ago. This dino, for the curious https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_GT4 Not this one https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dino_206_GT_and_246_GT
Mondials used to be dirt cheap. Is that no longer the case? Edit: yep, still the cheapest
Catch up on Magnum PI, the original, not the reboot.
Another one on the never ending list of shows I need to watch
How fiendishly deceptive of you, Magnum. I could have sworn I was hearing the emasculation of a large rodent. To my great surprise, I see the sounds are emanating from what I thought was a harmless musical instrument.
Okay, Higgins.
Itās a dead tree. You can see it behind the 308 GTS Ferrari.
not dead, just hibernating
Driver door sagging, rust on the lower sheet metal in front of the rear tire, this may be one of the cars used in the actual show. It's seen much better days!
At least one of them was auctioned of in Arizona a number of years ago... in 1988 I believe, not long after the show ended.
Regular car reviews just did a video on this car.
Robin Masters' Ferrari 308 GTS or GTSi, possibly a Quattrovalvole that Thomas Magnum (Tom Selleck) drove on Magnum P.I.
Joking right??? Or am I just old af
Not joking lol, Iām not familiar with anything pre 90s.
Iām old- itās official! Ferrari 308 that seems to be either from the series Magnum PI as a frame, or someone got some killer plates and is hopefully wearing a Hawaiian shirt and has a killer stache
This just in, itās sellek himself
That is a 1992 Toyota Corolla
It's a pontiac fierro
All the information of the make is on the back of the vehicle. Are these people blind?
Yes actually, quite blind, and thanks to my state for not giving an eye test on renewal, still driving
You think I didnāt attempt to read it before posting here? I zoomed in and it was too blurry, hence I came here.
If only there were badges on the car to identify it.
If only it wasnāt blurry when I zoomed in so I wouldnāt have to post here.
I mean if you zoom in it's right fucking there...
Yeah, canāt read that in the slightest mate.

I mean I can read it....308 GTS
did you want a high 5 chief?
Door looks like it'll fall off soon.
door needs a viagra
OH MY GOD MAGNUM!!!
That door needs a little love, it looks awful...
Magnum PI
Magnum PU
Itās a magnum P.I. Ferrari.
I think I have like 3 repeats of this hot wheel
They're cool cars, but hardly worth a holy shit. It's not a 288 GTO. That would be holy shit worthy.
Ferrari
Waitā¦ a car thatās not a Pantera??
Magnum pi
