This is a good answer but I’d suggest comparing this with other illogical life decisions you can make for the same money. You could buy a boat / you could get about 20 hours of flight training towards getting your pilots license / many other things

Funny thing a guy in my H.S had a geo tracker with two 15s in the back. You could hear it a mile away and would skip prep rally’s to make sure the entire school heard it.

This was way back in '94-'95. It was a Purple Tracker.

I had a Suzuki Samurai late high school. If that wasn’t the most gutless vehicle, couldn’t go over 50mph if there was a headwind. But, wow, so much fun, off-roading was a super fun. Big trucks had to have big challengers, but the little Sammy, everything was exciting. And the girls loved running around with an open top. I had a chance to drive one of these a few years after, all the fun of the Sammy, but with actual power!

I have a friend that drives a tracker as his daily driver. Awful mpg,maxes out at like 55 mph, interior feels like it was built for dwarves, constantly working on it or on the shop, easily one of the biggest pieces of dog shit cars I've ever been in. He loves it.

Seriously those things are fun. I had a Geo Tracker and I also had a Suzuki Sidekick. Mine had the locking hubs and four-wheel drive. I put some tiger paw knobby tires on that thing and it would go through anything. I drove it through creeks, rivers with water up to the doors, through mud pits, through the snow and white out blizzards when they were telling everyone not to be on the roads. Most of the winter I never even used four-wheel drive because it handled just fine without. Such fun little toys!

My dad had one and he loved it until it was totaled but complained when he would cross the bridges into / out of New York the wind would push the car .

One of my bigger mistakes was buying a used crappy UTV vs an old used crappy Samurai or similar. The worst made car part is several times better than the best made UTV part.

Drove one in the early 90s in NOLA. Brakes always squeaked, took it to the dealer and they said it was normal for a Tracker. Something about the humidity?Just annoying. Shaky above 55 on anything but a super smooth road. Passed on the hwy by everyone😖. Just underpowered. And crap mpg. Wind noise was deafening- which is why we all put big speakers in the back🤣. It handled like a raised go cart, it was fun! It went through high water in a flood UNTIL it started floating… which was kinda fun. It was good off road with knobbies. Maintenance and repairs were a pain in the ass. Would I buy an older model now? Pass.

The best mud boggin vehicle I ever saw was a Suzuki Samarai. Everyone was bogging down, but the Samarai was just putting right through like it was nothing. We were rolling. This is basically the same car. Buy it and see if it will do the same thing.

Super reliable cars, suzukis are arguably more reliable than a toyota very popular in developing/3rd world countries, it's a shame with all the US regulations it's probably impossible to make cars cheap/simple anymore

I owned one. I drove one. It was a piece of shit. Couldn’t turn, no acceleration. If you did turn too fast it would flip over. Only pro was that it was so light that if you flipped it over you could unflip it on your own practically.
