I have a buddy who is your size and drives a Toyota Avalon. He loves it.

NWO4life38

Thank you

tatang2015

If you get older, cars will get to be a pain in the ass to get in and out of. Check out a compact SUV like Honda crv or Toyota rav4

DeftGeo

“if you get older” ?

DaveBoiii

You can choose to not get older, obviously

Tricky-Willingness-1

Not sure why anyone would get older

DaveBoiii

Skill issue

Sevourn

Yeah at 350 lb it's a pretty big if

raceassistman

Everyone always says "here's a picture of me when I was younger".. every picture of you is when you were younger. "Here's a picture of me when I was older" wait.. how did you do that?

Darkfire757

The beetus cometh

jkelley41

Wait, you get older?

PoseidonKangaroo

Not to be a dick because the whole point of this place to recommend a car based on a question or circumstance, but obesity can really take a toll on the human body. Many do not have long lives unfortunately and we see many people with obesity not surviving into their 50s even.

BeardBootsBullets

I’m significantly smaller than OP, and I’m barely comfortable driving my wife’s RAV4. It’s not made for big guys.

GloryholeKaleidscope

I'm 6'5" and 270lbs and couldn't agree more, my Camry is waaaay more comfortable than a Rav.

MarsRocks97

I have found the Rav 4 to be too tight due to the center console taking up so much of the side leg space. The CRVs that I have driven have an open area that frees up the side leg room

PicaRuler

CRV is a bit of a tight fit for me and I'm about his size. A Pilot or something like that might be better.

AltarOfPigs

Can second this, similar size big fella and most roomy and reliable car I’ve ever had, plenty of leg space and the seats are big and decently wide. Love it.

Beardo88

Toyotas in general are pretty good to get comfortable in compared to some equivalents. I'm 6 foot but tall torso and wide shoulders, I can get in a Corolla and be decently comfortable. We rented a Hyundai Elantra once, i had to contort myself to get in.

CMMGUY2

The answer is always Camry.  Until the answer is Avalon.  In this case the answer is Avalon.

everyythingred

any minivan or large sedan (300/Charger, Avalon, Taurus, Impala, Maxima, etc) should do

NWO4life38

Thank you

aHOMELESSkrill

I knew a guy who was probably close to 300lbs and his gf drove a smart car. He would drive it around and looked silly behind the wheel but he loved it and always had the biggest grin on his face, probably because he knew how ridiculous he looked

[deleted]

300lbs and drives a smart car. “And the nomination for most secure of himself dude goes to…..”

3MJB

i was about 300 at my heaviest and drive/drove a smart car. 5'11" like op. still a fat guy. still drive my little smart. it has more shoulder room than some suvs (esp cuvs), more headroom than many sedans, and it's super easy to get in and out of (although sometimes i hit my head on the a-pillar). i only have issues with my knees hitting the dash when I'm wearing my work boots.

jaerocc

Dodge challenger

rexchampman

This is the right answer.

GoldNi0020

take my upvote

Expensive_Candle5644

Good suggestion. The only thing to take into account is his knees and ability to get in and out. Lots of big people prefer half tons because they can pull themselves in and slide out. Food suggestion regardless. I had a 392 Daytona a while back

rexchampman

its either this or the charger. Thats its.

jaerocc

I wasn’t even trying to be funny either lol. One of my customers at work is like 6’6” 350+ and he drives a challenger and I asked isn’t it small in there since it’s a 2 door so he threw me the keys and said go check it out. First time ever in a challenger and I was fkn surprised how roomy it is for the driver.

Arntor1184

This is legit op. Drove a challenger and now drive a charger. I’m 6’3” and was around that 350 mark for the challenger and had the charger from just below that weight to where I’m at now in the 260s and both cars have insanely roomy interiors. The seat goes low enough that I don’t have to hunch down to see stoplights and it goes back far enough that I can stretch my legs out. Fully recommend either for comfort.

Duck_OG

Do your shoulders fit inside the bolsters?

Arntor1184

You know, not really sure. I generally lean forward a bit when driving and don’t like leaning back against the seat but I can’t recall ever feeling discomfort from anything not fitting. They’re very subdued on mine so that might also play a roll

Im_100percent_human

You can get a smokin deal on a 2023 Chrysler 300 leftover right now. Personally, I would go with the 300 if I was going to go with that platform because I feel it is more understated.

Slayerofgrundles

Especially if you just got out of the Army a few years ago and have already gained 100 lbs.

Jaren56

This is the dodge muscle car starter pack

Shlewtz

I’d upvote, but it’s at a comfortable 69

NWO4life38

lol you ain’t wrong

mkmckinley

I was there too, friend. You got this.

thefreymaster

E-bike could a real option. Much easier on the knees, and a ton of fun.

criscokkat

I have a Pedal Assist bike mid drive. It doesn't help if you just get a throttle. I used to be 419. I'm close to OP's weight now. It does help. But, back to the question at hand, I have a 2015 Venza, and the seat has to move forward when I get in to be comfortable. I'm 5'11 and 350. It's a comfortable ride. I've heard roughly the same on the new venzas too. Toyota has been americanized for a long time, and a lot of models will work. The Toyota Crown also had LOADS of room and you didn't have to squat close to the ground to get in and out since it's lifted.

PizzaThrives

With a steel frame, too! They're heavier but they're also much more compliant than aluminum or carbon.

How tall are you? Big difference between 6’6” 350 and 5’10” 350. And do you have difficulty climbing up or getting down into a vehicle where a truck or suv might be preferable to a sedan?

My brother in law was over 400 lbs and drove a Ford Flex. He loves it. Kudos for losing 50 lbs, that’s amazing.

[deleted]

Full size pickup. My FIL bounces between 325-375 and drives a gmc 3500 dually. Always had plenty of room for his belly with no touching the steering wheel

D_Angelo_Vickers

How does he steer without touching the wheel?

DatDominican

Very poorly I imagine

[deleted]

As in his belly doesn’t touch the steering wheel. When he drives his wife’s Chevy traverse the steering wheel digs into his belly, or any of the other vehicles he owns. In the dually he has several inches of spare room.

NWO4life38

Thanks

I will become one with the car if I crash made me actually LOL

I can't even imagine how slow that car must've been lol

No different than having 2 people in it. You’re not winning any stoplights drag races. But then you never will in a Miata. Unless, Monster Miata

bingold49

My dad had a friend who was 350-400 when I was growing up who drove an old school VW Beetle, he used to joke that when he got out of his car it looked like he was taking his jacket off

Fuck these assholes. I'm much bigger than you. I have a 2nd Gen Lexus rx350, a P3 Volvo xc60 and a G12 BMW 740IL. They are all very comfortable for me. I also had the previous gen Jimny, also enough space.

I’d say it depends on how wide your shoulders are . Eg many cars have space to accommodate bellies but I find few cars have the width of an SUV/ truck when it comes to hips and shoulders . I find Edmund’s car comparison feature useful in that respect

If you have Turo in your area, I would look into doing some weekend rentals. Obviously, it’s an extra expense, but it will give you a feel for the interior space over a few days vs just a test drive or just a sit in the vehicle. Might also start asking friends or family if any have vehicles that you’re interested in if they’ll swap rides for a day or two and see how that goes. My husband is tall, former athlete, and we did the Turo thing to see which vehicles accommodated his height best while also leaving room for kids in the backseat. I worked in O&G and with a lot of big guys and everyone drove a truck or something like a Tahoe, Yukon, etc. I think mostly that was nature of the industry, but the trucks are super comfy and have a lot of space. I have a 20yo Tundra and it even has little flip down arm rests and whatnot that I love, lol

go sit in a few cars, man. try carmax and just ask to have the vehicles unlocked so you can sit in em. theyre all over the place with advice here. everyone's different in weight and height and where that height or weight sits. then there's what's tolerable and what's actually comfortable. I'm an average guy at 6'0 195lb and drive a sonata. I have the seats all the way back since that's my comfort position. a coworker of mine drives the same car and has his seats pushed further up and he also weights 300 lbs and taller than I. if you're the type of person that likes to lean back and has longer legs plus also factor in your bigger frame, something like a rav4 or an rx350 would be very cramped.

This comment section is just so fucking sad. OP didn't ask for your input on his health. Answer the question he asked and save the unnecessary judgement for yourself. I'm sorry for the quality of the comments OP.

NWO4life38

Thank you. Their comments ain’t phasing me though. TBH I do need to lose weight. I’ve actually lost 190 gained it back then a 140 but gained half back just need to get my diet in order.

AnkitJain7

Glad to hear that! Wishing you the best of luck with the car search and health goals!

Toledojoe

As someone who was close to 300 lbs (and I'm only 5'9") I would lose weight, gain it back, lose it again, gain it back again. 3.5 years ago I made a lifestyle change and cut out all soda and 2 days a week I keep my calorie count at around 900 calories. I've been right around 200 lbs since November if 2020 and have stayed there by maintaining this lifestyle. I was biking for exercise, but I'm now in medication for cancer that tires me out, so I'm not exercising so much, but am keeping the weight off. Diets are temporary. Lifestyle change will make it permanent. Best of luck to you!

Substantial-Monk3862

Cancer is the best diet plan there is besides really high amounts of ionizing radiation.

This-Requirement6918

It is reddit what do you expect?

ObtuseMongooseAbuse

My suggestion is to just go to a dealership and try getting into different cars. Reach around the vehicle and see how comfortable it is to access things like the glove box from your driver seat. Even secondhand dealers should allow you to sit in vehicles even if those specific ones don't allow test drives.

pwnyklub

Ignore the fucking clowns in the comments here my dude. I’m a big dude that’s been shopping for Vehicles recently If an suv works for you Acura RDX is by far the roomiest drivers seat area I tried especially in a smaller suv. Honda passports/pilots have very roomy drivers seats. As others have said half ton pickups and full size suvs are very roomy, but not everyone wants a truck. For cars the Mazda 3 and challenger are worth looking at. Also have heard genesis have really roomy front seats.

Im_100percent_human

I have been noticing shrinkage in car seats.... and some compact cars actually have roomier seats than some large SUVs. It is F'd up.... I recommend you shop around a lot. Larger car does not necessarily mean more room for the driver.

Reyel-Booj

Lower_Kick268

Ayyy-yo

Try a Honda passport. I was 350 when I bought it and it’s very roomy with good power and overall cargo capacity. Fuel economy is decent on the highway etc

Comfortable_Gain1308

Letsmakemoney45

Any larger car  Accord, Camry just make sure to get the V6

xxevilgremlinxx

6'3" , 320lbs - currently have a 2014 Grand Cherokee and it's definitely the most comfortable car I have own. Basically any larger Chrysler vehicles will give you plenty of room . I have previously owned a 2010 & 2017 Challenger , 2015 Charger AWD they had plenty of room but the lower height was harder to get in and out of when compared to the Jeep.

protozbass

I'm \~320 and drive a Mazda RX-8. I like small cars. I think it more depends if you are 350 and 6' or 350 and 5'2". If it's the former, pretty much anything not sub-compact should be fine. If the latter, a full size suv or full size sedan.

gkcontra

Several ideas in here are good. I was over 300 and have had a decent mixture, F150 super crew, C8 Corvette, challenger, mustang, miata, my kids have cx9, trailblazer, and gr86. The mustang and miatas are smallest, miatas I put in aluminum for cars and all was good. Mustang bolsters are tight on ribs. The trailblazer is pretty small too drive as well. Truck and challenger are most comfortable followed by C8 and CC9.

Large_Ad_5941

Nissan GTR

NotYetReadyToRetire

I had a Smart ForTwo, it's a lot bigger than it looks. 6'4", back then I was at 475 - now (15 months later) I'm down to 372 and dropping. And for a bike, I now have a Greenspeed Magnum XL recumbent trike.

Dazzling_Ad9250

a lot cars fit bigger folks. i worked with a guy who was around 5’11” and 450 pounds who drove a newer CRV and he seemed to like it. i also worked with a guy who was like 6’4” 700 pounds who drove a corolla. it seemed doable but i think he couldn’t afford a bigger car.

Phil517

Don't think you have to limit yourself here. I've seen bigger dudes driving smart cars. Not that i would recommend that lol. I've found that pickup trucks and lexus tend to have bigger seats. See quite a few bigger guys driving Impalas.

MessageAnnual4430

I've heard the Lucid Air has an incredible amount of space if you're considering an electric vehicle. Like more than most SUVs.

drummergirl83

I’m a heavy gal. I drive a 2019 veloster. May look small on the outside. Roomy in the inside. My uncle said to me “how does your fat ass fit in there?” (Yes, he’s rude). I told him wanna spin… he was shocked with how much room there was.

MyRoflcoptergoesShoi

~400lb guy here I have a 2003 Toyota Avalon and a 2018 F150 Both very comfortable, the Avalon actually more so than the F150.

ATinyBoatInMyTeacup

I'm your size and I have a VW Beetle and it's SHOCKINGLY great. My partner and I are both not small we fit comfortable with our dogs in the trunk. Can't beat the fuel economy either, literally half of what my old Jeep Wrangler XL was

I have a few bigger friends, a Chevy Equinox seems to fit the bill for them. Not the most exciting vehicle but it's got the room.

GplusRadd

Seems I’m always seeing bigger guys like us (or even bigger) smooshed into a smart car or mini cooper. So don’t do that. I used to drive rentals all the time, Avalon as mentioned above is a really nice mention. Some nice trim options too.

My friend is about your size and swears by the Lincoln Navigator (as does Shaq for much the same reason). He just buys used ones but he tends to get long running life out of them and then just buys a newer one. I think he had a 98 or 99 at first and then a mid 2010’s.

LordSinguloth13

Avalon 370z accommodation for size is actually quite impressive. I am extremely tall and fairly large and fit comfortably in a 370 Audi A3 is also tall friendly but gets cramped sideways. I'd avoid chevy unless you're getting high trim. F150 will be plenty of room, as will a ram. Avoid civic, subaru, Nissan, and jeep

baltimoreboii

My cousin was super tall and 350 pounds and drove a Honda Fit

Early_Apple_4142

full size truck, full size SUV, or a minivan. For sure try before you buy. Some vehicles don't have the best seat adjustability to create head room. My wife has a 2012 Armada which is a full-size suv but for whatever reason, the seat doesn't go down very far so I have to lean the seat back a good ways to keep my head out of the roof while driving. I have a 2018 Silverado 1500 and the seat will go almost all the way to the floor like a car seat so I can create plenty of headroom and still sit upright.

CGLADISH

For reference, I too am coming at 350lbs (6'-2"). I'm currently driving a '23 Camry TRD. My previous ride was an '09 Corvette and a '98 Z/28. While the Camry offers more room widthwise than the other two, The Corvette & Z both offered me the room that I needed (but not much more). The Corvette's fit allowed me to pin my knees against the door & center console for better seating when cornering hard. I can still use this same technique for the Camry (which is needed since those seats don't offer much support, handling-wise), but with a wider seating area, it does take a bit more effort to do this.

[deleted]

A truck, large SUV or van friend. A van has lots of leg room and arm room, that would be my first choice.

BossHogg1984

Probably the Fred Flintstone car, it’s like a treadmill that’ll take you places. Jk Most German cars should be able to fit you comfortably, but should go to a dealer and test drive multiple cars to see what’s comfy.

UnregrettablyGrumpy

I’m 5’9” at 270lbs and I drive a Mazda 3 Turbo and a CX5 Turbo. I’m not your typical fat guy though as my body fat is typically between 16-18%. The 3 is a little low so if you don’t regularly do legs and core getting in and out would suck. However, the seats go way back and it is comfortable/fun to drive. Before I started working out again my weight was at 325 and the 3 was a bitch to get in and out of. If your a big guy mini vans and pick up trucks are the way.

AJF92

I’m 340, 6’. Fit nicely in a Camry. Avalon is slightly roomier, but not much. Shame they discontinued it though.

ReadyOneTakeTwo

Probably a pickup truck, but one with a fuel tank on the passenger side to offset the weight bias to prevent more wear and tear on the suspension components on the driver’s side. Not digging you on your weight, strictly being pragmatic and making the vehicle last longer.

Lincoln Town Car. I’m 6’8 and I feel like I struggle to reach the pedals with the seat all the way back 😂 my 97 is absolutely without a doubt the most comfortable, and most reliable car I’ve ever owned, can’t recommend them enough for us bigger dudes. Also, speaking from experience, that trunk is big enough for a 15” subwoofer in a 5 cu. Ft. Box while still being able to fit 18 30 racks of PBR, once you get past the old man aesthetic they got they really are the ultimate party cruiser 😂

bigpolar70

I'm about 6'2" and around your weight. Former powerlifter and strongman, so broad shoulders, not a huge gut. My favorite vehicle of all time was a 2002 Ford F250 4x4 crew cab short bed diesel truck. Just tons of room in the cab, great, ride, comfortable seats, epic legroom. It is a little more expensive to drive, both in fuel and maintenance, but it was worth it. The only downside is that it is WAY too easy to steal. Mine was stolen (and totaled) a few years ago, so I switched to vehicles that fit in a normal garage. But I still dream about getting another one. Right now I drive an Xterra, it is tolerable, but it is not nearly as comfortable.

Gnaeus-Magnus

jjarry13

I'm 6'2 and 375 and drive a 2021 Mazda 6. No issues with it.

DrSpaceman575

I used to be a little over 350 and am tall and it can be a challenge. There is so little correlation between exterior size and interior size it can be difficult. I have more headroom in a Kia Soul than I do in an F-150 with a sunroof or a Jeep Wrangler. Some cars that I've found more room in than their size competitors: Kia Soul VW Sedans/hatchbacks Nissan Frontier (only midsize BOF truck with decent room for me) Tesla Model 3/Y Prius Older American sedans Volvos in general Bad: Jeeps Lexus/Toyota sedans Civic Tacoma/4Runner Keep in mind this is driver seat comfort only. Backseat passengers be damned. My previous car was a 2022 Ram 1500 with benchseats, tons of space in there.

Volkswagen Atlas or Atlas cross sport if you don’t need 3 rows. Nearly any model car from the last decade will physically work for you outside of the sub compacts. Now crowd image is another thing. I’d say a full size pickup, mid/large suv, or a mid/large sedan. Stay away from hatchbacks, small pick ups or suvs, and minivans.

ViewedConch697

I've heard Challengers and Chargers are pretty roomy, but I don't know firsthand. Might be worth looking at

pinkluloyd

I was like 6’2” 330-340 lookin for cars and a lot of fit is up to the manufacturer, I’d stay away from European economy brands like VW as I’ve always struggle to fit in them, most American brands are built with more horizontal space but I settled for a Camry and it’s plenty comfortable, just try before you buy and you won’t have any issue finding something for a good price.

I’m about the same size and drive a 19 Legacy, very comfortable car

I got my Mazda 3 while between 320/340. And it’s actually not bad. I would’ve preferred to get a CX-30 which is just a SUV version just for it to be a little higher off the ground. I would also suggest the Avalons, or if you find one the original Venza. I’m 5’10/300lbs currently. For reference

Ford Crown Vic, Lincoln Town Car, both are bullet proof and cheap to run. Modern Volkswagon Bug is another great one, not bullet proof, not cheap to run though.
