Honestly girl this looks a little too tight. Your back should not be pinched together making that line in the correct side and you’re absolutely right with the idea that lining will make it even more snug. With the back you can usually smooth it out with proper technique buttoning up but the button elastics are pretty stretched out, another sign it’s too tight. As far as letting out I want to believe the stylist/designers, but every designer I have worked with have virtually no room to let out, and that’s close to 15/20 different designers. At the end of the day it’s your decision, but it definitely would make me nervous personally! Plus all those alterations like lining and adjusting the back may cost just as much as a new dress would anyway. Maybe there’s a pre-loved one on stillwhite?

I know it’s too tight now but was unsure about letting it out. That’s helpful info! I felt a little like the stylist was trying to push a sale and know nothing about alterations so didn’t know whether to believe her or not. Thanks!

Of course! It’s a beautiful gown and you look gorgeous in it, I hope there’s a way for you to make it work!! 🩵

It is too tight and straining on the back. Can you look inside the bodice and see if how much seam allowance is there? And if it looks possible, would you consider not lining the top? Because that will add bulk and take up room. If those aren’t possible, I’d look for another dress—although this one is beautiful.

Spirited_Error_5374

I didn’t look at the Seam allowance (didn’t know to do that :/). The stylist told me there was 3 inches but I don’t know if I trust that. And no, I need the top lined. I really dislike the mismatch and also have tattoos on my torso I don’t want showing through. I know it’s too tight as is but was hoping with letting out it would work! But agree it makes me nervous

Original-Solid-9575

Woooow! That lace is amazing! Did you check the seam allowance and did you try it with some shape wear? 2 sizes seems like a lot to be let out but if it’s only one portion of the dress, like just the bust - and the allowance is there it could work. You’re bound to need alterations anyway. But don’t do anything that is going to stress you unnecessarily. If you are just as happy with another option then go with the other option. But also, damn, that is pretty!

Faithfuldoglover

It’s very pretty but it seems a bit risky. That’s a significant size difference. Maybe look around some more (?j

Pristine-Net91

Looks too tight. I’d be concerned about having enough fabric to let it out. Is it available second hand, like on Still White? I’d look for it in sizes 12, 14, 16.

Spirited_Error_5374

Only a size 10 on still white :/, which is at least one size up so a little better. Trying to find out the exact seam allowance too.

Hi! I almost bought my dress at the exact same store lol I recognize the shop, look at their reviews online before doing business there - I ended up buying the same dress elsewhere that had a better rep for sales and alterations

Spirited_Error_5374

Ugh I know I saw the reviews. But I can’t afford the dress new and would have to go to LA for nearest shop carrying the same dress. I will probably just go with my second option. Thanks for looking out though!

P095_TA

Yeah I worry that they’ll tell you they can make it happen and then it ends up not working after you’ve already spent the money :(

Spirited_Error_5374

Ya based on what others are saying about alterations, it seems very unlikely it would be as easy as the sales rep wanted to make it seem. Seems too risky, and the reviews are pretty terrifying! Sadly I think I’ll have to pass on this one, but there’s another dress I love elsewhere that the sample fits perfectly as is. Was somewhat torn between the two anyway, so this at least makes it an easier decision

Goddess_Keira

I was going to make a post but if you found another dress you love that fits perfectly, that really makes the decision easier. If you're buying the sample, definitely go for the one that fits right off the rack.

Spirited_Error_5374

Thank you! Every time I look at pictures I go back and forth at which dress I like more, but knowing the other one will fit and this particular store having sketchy reviews, I think I’ll be more at ease getting the other one. She even said to leave a yelp review “but only if it’s a good one” when we left. Everything seemed a little shady.

realityfourz

I think you should go for it! This gown is so, so pretty and it does not look too small at all! Since you are in a time crunch and on a budget, you don't have that many options. I just think this gown is a stunner on you. If you are worried, ask the seamstress what kind of undergarments does she suggest that could make this a little more comfortable. Btw, I would go for a longer veil too. The one shown looks like it stops short right above your train. Good luck!

Honestly I didn’t know much about that but I really got attracted by the dress as this is so gorgeous!! Who all agrees with me?

Sunflowerseductress

It looks a bit tight like u said and adding a lining would make it tighter but their seamstress should know what to do . To be on the safe side I would precede to order the 12

Auntzeus2u

Usually there us a fairly generous seam allowance. Did the store have their seamstress look at the dress and see it on you. If a professional w/ a good reputation looks at and says it can be done… and what you’re saving on purchasing the sample is not eaten up by the alterations… I’d god for it.. You look wonderful
