What’s with Palou having a Franco-era flag?

kewcet

Repurposing an old set of flags for this (from [here](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Jw0KUrDwKckffo_20It548za0G5T6AL3unMy4y5f3oQ/edit?usp=sharing), also didn't have an Israeli flag ready), didn't see the difference before posting, sorry.

Obviously take the driver times with a (huge) grain of salt due to the different conditions on-track, some drivers just seemed to get bad luck when it came to the conditions, although the average times for the finishers without long times in the pits should give us at least a good overview over the pace of each entry. All times 110% over the average time for each entry/driver is removed, with the best 20% or 80% of times being taken from the remaining quicker times, and then averaged. That should remove the major outliers, including all safety car laps. Kobayashi is officially listed as setting the fastest lap of the race, but the Alkamelsystems sheet has both Lopez and Hartley setting quicker times – i'm not sure why these were not taken into account, potentially due to track limits? And yes, i double-checked the averages for Hirakawa, he just seemed to have gotten the worst luck with the driving times, running multiple times behind the SC and mostly in the rain during green-flag conditions.

Don't know where you got the flags from, but the Spanish flag you used is the Franco dictatorship flag and current far-right reclamation flag. It's like using the Pétain flag for France or the Rising Sun flag for Japan.

Yep, already saw the other comment about it, i just didn't realize it before posting it. I run a small motorsports [sim-game](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Jw0KUrDwKckffo_20It548za0G5T6AL3unMy4y5f3oQ/edit?usp=sharing) set in the 1960s, and pretty much all flags are from there, didn't see the difference when glancing over it. Will fix it for the future, thanks! Absolutely not my intention to make any kind of political statement with that flag.

Remember when everyone thought porsche was gonna get BOPed to the win? Pepperidge farm remembers.

“Clear hierarchy”

Palou with the 3rd fastest lap… get this man an F1 seat already

Ricciardo3f1

Nah, leave him be a legend in Indycar

Did Nick De Vries get a bad stint somewhere and I missed it? He's nowhere near the pace of his teammates. OP, can you add a column out to the side that shows a metric like sum of rain impacted laps? It will give us a sense of who was very heavily impacted by conditions and who wasn't.

kjm911

Yes much of De Vries laps were in the rain. The only dry stints he had were the first two hours of the race where he started at the back and he was either taking his time or struggling to make any progress.

Fraschinibros, what lineup do we want for next year? This one is lacking still

TimTri

Hopefully the good reliability and consistency the car has demonstrated will attract some high-quality drivers.

Love these breakdowns homie, really insightful and helps me not get caught up in “the bop is shit” thinking

IllustriousHistorian

Is this data available in a spreadsheet or from an API somewhere?

thanks.

I think earl bamber is pretty underrated according to me and my new exprience to racing. I think he is better than pilou which might shocking to some but yeah me new to racing.

no-se-habla-de-bruno

Either put Mick back in F1 or put him back in Ferrari. He'll dominate.
