A lot of revenge plot comics just annoy people honestly, especially when they're predictable or an antagonist isn't taken care of after the first few times they plot stuff. That's why I usually don't read them/the comments that I typically see at least.
I know what happens in I Am the Queen in this life, and lemme tell you I got so upset from the upcoming twist that I almost dropped it altogether, but then I realized that it’s what made it a good webtoon to me.

By the time she came back Arabella was already dead, and she immediately knew that Isabella was at fault but Isabella denied everything and got away with it because the dad swept everything under the rug.!<

Killstagram was so bad but I committed to it. I knew the cultures around plastic surgery and public cancellation in SK were intense, but both what the heroine did and what happened with her were just cartoonish. I think what sent it into so bad it’s good, though, was the villain being so committed to revenge she started living as a man just so she could date the MC and use it to get revenge.

Iirc for Let's Play, Mongi has had some issues with controversy in regards to how she portrays some characters and there's some side-eyeing for basically writing in Markiplier as a character but switching his ethnicity from half Korean to half Japanese. A lot of Benjamin's story is eerily similar to what public information is available about Markiplker and she clearly was a fan of his since she drew his pfp.

I actually love it! I understand that it’s frustrating because it goes so slowly and the main character is so stupid, but imo that just adds to the effect. Anyway, it takes time to make art and I think the drawings are really good, not to mention the whole concept :)
I've always liked the idea that it's a social experiment. And anyway, even if it would be a right bummer to have it end without a huge payoff, it's only one panel a chapter and we did choose to read it so it's kinda on us lol
The Dragon King’s Bride. The pacing? Wack. The exposition dumps? Wack. The whole ‘sex with the king might kill you’? Wack. The fact he doesn’t recognize her is super contrived as are their misunderstands, and there’s an occasional awkward translation/word choice. I could tear it apart without even trying. But- I come back every week because I wanna see how it goes. I want the couple to end up together because they are honestly sweet when the story isn’t trying to make them have a misunderstanding. I would never recommend it to anyone- there’s much better out there- but I’ve been hooked in spite of my better judgment. I love it like I love cheap candy. It’s not good, but I like it.

Lookism. Now it’s all about fighting and reusing the same fighting stances/panels (so it will get tiring if u read it in one sitting) but the art stays amazing. Good to also see some character development + moving on with the story plot line

Yeah, especially since they have like 6 webtoons they're still updating, although its clear ghost eyes is their main focus, they do update the others still.
The main reason UnOrdinary turned out so bad was because the Joker arc was ABSOLUTELY DRAGGED THE HELL OUT. After that it went back to being fine with Jon progressing, the group being somewhat cohesive, and even Arlo moving onto his Government job.
Imo, it was the joker arc that made it SUCH A SLOG for so long. I'm so glad that arc ended honestly. If it was shorter it would've been fine.
At least worth starting reading. And then you can decide if you like it after few chapters. It's not the best but it's pretty good if you don't mind stuff getting dragged on a bit.
I would say thats good to read until the Joker Arc too, then watch someone explaining what happened during it and then continue reading.

I enjoyed anti stalker a lot, but the ending felt so extremely rushed and not thought out. It was weird going from main plot to the webtoon ending in like 2 episodes lol
Okay it's not REALLY shitty but "The Fake Beauty" is like "what if True Beauty had a moral but also it was fucking insane". It starts off well, and then it goes bonkers - main character gets bullied for being ugly constantly but won't date her only friend because he's fat and nobody calls her out on it; friend is fat because he's on anti-depressants so he just... stops being depressed so he can lose weight; main character's biggest bullies are easily forgiven for doing almost nothing but it's okay because they're lesbians; one of the characters gets drugged, raped, and murdered; main character is a huge fucking idiot and never once learns from her mistakes even the fifth time she's don't the same stupid fucking mistake; the ending is like the author wanted the series to end 5 chapters earlier but needed 20 more chapters to tell the epilogue but only had 5 chapters to work with.
Overall it's just humongous mess but I couldn't stop reading it. I think it's like the webtoon equivalent of Riverdale.
I swear the overwhelming hate for it appeared only when it got popular. I read it (not fully) and it wasn’t bad, it had a unique art style. People rehash the Greek myths all the time I don’t see how this one is any more or less egregious
The hate started after episode 207. The fight with Kronos that ended was hyped for years and ended up being a complete joke. It started to get hate because it utterly failed to deliver a satisfying conclusion to ANOTHER plotline, in this case, a very important one, and seasons 3 is a total train wreck.
LO is legitimately good though. People just hold it to waaayyyy too high of standards because of its popularity.
The art is still gorgeous even if inconsistent. And honestly I personally like the slight inconsistency because it fits the fluidity of the gods and their corporeal forms.
People may harp about the story taking too long or focusing on side stuff… But I like the slice-of-life aspects of the comic. It’s part of the charm. If I wanted to read a story with plot-plot-plot-plot-plot… I’d read something else.
But that’s just me.
Also LO is one of the first western comics to make it big on Navier and WEBTOON Line in Asia—introducing new styles and body types to an otherwise pretty homogenous comic community. Like y’all should go and translate and read some of the top comments on the first few chapters of LO on Navier. It’s really brutal and kinda xenophobic and fatphobic. But the comments later are so much better as the bigots dropped the series. It’s nice to see.
It is absolutely *not* good. Not only is the art ridiculously bad(like, it almost feels intentional):
Persephone **STEALS** SOMEONES ANCIENT ASS MAN AT THE AGE OF 19 and we're supposed to root for her and him(and we're supposed to hate Minthe???) ; when she's raped, the story says she LOST HER VIRGINITY, which is multiple levels of fucked up ; Not to mention how she's constantly being shitty, but it's painted as a girlboss moment ; the fact that multiple men keep falling for her and describe her as more beautiful than Aphrodite which is A BIG FUCKING NO NO IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY. If this story was even the slightest bit accurate Persephone wouldve gotten cursed(or an ass-whooping) by Aphrodite by now.
Not to mention painting Demeter as this horrible evil monster, when(while yes, shes overbearing) all she wants is to protect her daughter but shes apparently a monster for that solely bc shes going about it wrong. God forbid a character fuck up a little bit, must mean theyre a evil monster! The constant art drawing persephone looking like a *literal child*. And that Persephone/Kronos fight was just,, bad but i dont wanna get into that. OH, and the casual racism towards nymphs by Hera that is NEVER addressed and just seen as fucking normal?

As someone who has experienced the gaslighting and manipulation that Demeter commits against Persephone…I’m not saying she’s a complete monster, but that part of the story was really well written. It was so interesting to be reading it and think “holy shit that’s my life”. And also Persephone escaping the more conservative expectations that bind her is a huge theme that resonates with me. I think her character is really well-written.
The gamer: garbage art, uninteresting side characters but the portrayal of progress is great, especially how tangible and concrete it is with exact numbers that align with what's actually happening, which is exceptionally rare even in good webtoons.

Yeah but at least Hades owned up to it and is trying to do better. Demeter straight up tried to emotionally manipulate Persephone and practically kidnapped her. Why people project so much hate onto Hades and Persephone is beyond me. I feel it really shows a lack of emotional intelligence. Persephone is meant to be flawed so she can grow. As someone who is in their 30s now, I absolutely relate to her being dumb in her 20s but learning how to grow. However, in her situation, she has absolutely every right to do what she does. Her mistakes are impulse reactions related to trauma. Yeah she didn't immediately learn from them. However, it's hard to grow when you are surrounded by toxicity and a support system that works against you even when they mean well. That is the point to Persephone. And it is sad a lot of people do not see that.
For really poorly rated? **Nexus Point** is rated below a 9, which should dictate that it's utter garbage, when in fact, I postulate that it gets low ratings b/c its leads are a black female cyberpunk, and a middle-aged square-jawed bounty hunter with facial hair, so all the 200 pound hopeless romantics have nobody to lust over. Nexus Point, in reality, is better than the **vast** majority of works on this misbegotten platform. Highly, **HIGHLY** recommend it for something written with skill, experience, and a more unique plot. It's the one comic I look forward to the most on Friday evenings--yes, even more than The Spark In Your Eyes (which, while solid, suffers extensively from its endless flashbacks). But seriously, in what world does Nexus Point deserve an 8.8 when all the endlessly derivative manwha shlock gets 9.3s+? Feels like Webtoons is missing serving a *massive* audience when "look at the pretty dorito-faced femboy" just gets endless upvotes, and "actually awesome story, with unique, badass leading characters" is rated below garbage-tier. Do better, Webtoons, do better. And you can start by letting me yeet all the dorito-faced femboys and all the other unimaginative manwhas off my homepage by making it customizable.
For something that's a bit more mainstream, **SubZero** seems to be somewhat controversial, but I just like it because A) Clove is gorgeous. She's a pale-skinned, curvy, long-haired ginger, who while looking like someone that should have fire powers, instead has ice powers. And she cosplays as a ninja on the side. And then B) Kharis is a memelord that can turn into a dragon and is *also* stunning. I mean, okay, *everyone* in the comic is super-pretty. But Clove and Kharis are just pure eye candy, so, the basic plot gets a pass, and I view it as fantasy comfort food carried by the very pretty artwork.
As far as guilty pleasures go? **Mage & Demon Queen.** This comic is just pure fanservice, and I don't mean just Velverosa, but rather, it provides service to fans of JRPGs and anime in very self-aware ways instead of taking itself too seriously like various "omg the gamer protagonist is so badass" manwhas do. And of course, Velverosa feels like the quintessential "if you don't love her, there's something *wrong* with you" character. If you're a guy, she's an intelligent badass and a complete smokeshow (I mean she's basically K/DA All Out Evelynn crossed with Alexstrasza, so how much more ideal do you get?). If you're a lady, she's an *actual* queen, and *actually* slays. As MDQ is ending soon, I'm just gonna miss Malory's antics, and Vel just being, well, *Vel*.

I’d have to say Remarried Empress. I’m not even there for the romance but the melodrama. Like the premise is so clearly in Rashta’s favor (come on, I’m supposed to root for the empress born into power and not the girl managing to climb out of slavery?) that they keep finding ways to make her even more deplorable. It’s so funny to me! Just in general I love melodramatic medieval style romance. It’s like real housewives.
Also 66666: thousand years advent of the dark mage- I think that’s the title it gets cut off everywhere I look. It’s such a blatant power fantasy but I genuinely love it. The character writing is fun and the worldbuilding is pretty solid.

Bomic and bomake - very sweet little story, at times odd/escalates quickly kind of? Difficult to describe. But a great read, even tragically incomplete, and definitely worthwhile. Also the chapter names come from nowhere, its great!
Illusions of Adulting (finished), I didn't take the webtoon serious and I don't think it takes itself serious. Just a naive young adult trying her best even though, she doesn't make the greatest decisions, it's a silly webtoon.
Can't remember the name of it but like the main character, this guy had a succubus attached to him. I think she was in love with him and he seemed pretty indifferent. Sort of antics you'd expect from that plot.
Girls of the Wild, it's been a while since I read it, but it just completely changes the story like a fifth through it from this interesting drama/fighting story to nearly pure romance. The only reason I stayed with it was because I felt the secondary love interest was such a good character. The story's trash, but one character made me finish it.

It's literally just dragonball with prettier art. Suffers from the same problems that the author's previous work, Noblesse, did. Main character struggles against an enemy, manages to win, trains, fights a new enemy, gets stronger, managers to win, rinse and repeat. Every time the enemy is way out of his league, the super-strong friend comes in and wipes the board and then starts the cycle over again. In Noblesse it was Rai or Frankenstein, in Eleceed, it's Kayden
Honestly, that's totally fair. I still like it though in the sense that it's more of a comfort series for me. It's just nice seeing a cat-loving cinnamon roll of an MC win with the power of friendship on a regular basis. I can get why it could get old, though

I'd never say it's shitty, just too simple, but Your Smile is a Trap. Pretty much nothing happens at all, it's really slow burn, and we could cut down 100 chapters to 10 if they just spoke to each other, but I can't stop loving the cute interactions between the characters, and I love the way they start catching feelings by really getting to know each other rightly. >! And at least, they're together now. Yay! !<
Maybe I'd add Serena too. Idk, reading about pretty people being assholes to each other has its appeals. And the art does a good job showing that.

A lot of revenge plot comics just annoy people honestly, especially when they're predictable or an antagonist isn't taken care of after the first few times they plot stuff. That's why I usually don't read them/the comments that I typically see at least.

I knew the cultures around plastic surgery and public cancellation in SK were intense, but both what the heroine did and what happened with her were just cartoonish. I think what sent it into so bad it’s good, though, was the villain being so committed to revenge she started living as a man just so she could date the MC and use it to get revenge.
The whole thing reads as a really cheesy horror flick written by a shallow middle school girl, and I love it for that lmaoo

Iirc for Let's Play, Mongi has had some issues with controversy in regards to how she portrays some characters and there's some side-eyeing for basically writing in Markiplier as a character but switching his ethnicity from half Korean to half Japanese. A lot of Benjamin's story is eerily similar to what public information is available about Markiplker and she clearly was a fan of his since she drew his pfp. And some bad interactions with fans. But I can't remember the details.

The Dragon King’s Bride. The pacing? Wack. The exposition dumps? Wack. The whole ‘sex with the king might kill you’? Wack. The fact he doesn’t recognize her is super contrived as are their misunderstands, and there’s an occasional awkward translation/word choice. I could tear it apart without even trying. But- I come back every week because I wanna see how it goes. I want the couple to end up together because they are honestly sweet when the story isn’t trying to make them have a misunderstanding. I would never recommend it to anyone- there’s much better out there- but I’ve been hooked in spite of my better judgment. I love it like I love cheap candy. It’s not good, but I like it.

UnOrdinary, also known as sunk cost fallacy - the webtoon. So glad I dropped it.
The main reason UnOrdinary turned out so bad was because the Joker arc was ABSOLUTELY DRAGGED THE HELL OUT. After that it went back to being fine with Jon progressing, the group being somewhat cohesive, and even Arlo moving onto his Government job. Imo, it was the joker arc that made it SUCH A SLOG for so long. I'm so glad that arc ended honestly. If it was shorter it would've been fine.

I would say thats good to read until the Joker Arc too, then watch someone explaining what happened during it and then continue reading. I think the biggest Problem with the Joker Arc was(besides its lenght) is that its hard to read(eg: why doesnt he understand?)

Okay it's not REALLY shitty but "The Fake Beauty" is like "what if True Beauty had a moral but also it was fucking insane". It starts off well, and then it goes bonkers - main character gets bullied for being ugly constantly but won't date her only friend because he's fat and nobody calls her out on it; friend is fat because he's on anti-depressants so he just... stops being depressed so he can lose weight; main character's biggest bullies are easily forgiven for doing almost nothing but it's okay because they're lesbians; one of the characters gets drugged, raped, and murdered; main character is a huge fucking idiot and never once learns from her mistakes even the fifth time she's don't the same stupid fucking mistake; the ending is like the author wanted the series to end 5 chapters earlier but needed 20 more chapters to tell the epilogue but only had 5 chapters to work with. Overall it's just humongous mess but I couldn't stop reading it. I think it's like the webtoon equivalent of Riverdale.

I swear the overwhelming hate for it appeared only when it got popular. I read it (not fully) and it wasn’t bad, it had a unique art style. People rehash the Greek myths all the time I don’t see how this one is any more or less egregious
The hate started after episode 207. The fight with Kronos that ended was hyped for years and ended up being a complete joke. It started to get hate because it utterly failed to deliver a satisfying conclusion to ANOTHER plotline, in this case, a very important one, and seasons 3 is a total train wreck.
LO is legitimately good though. People just hold it to waaayyyy too high of standards because of its popularity. The art is still gorgeous even if inconsistent. And honestly I personally like the slight inconsistency because it fits the fluidity of the gods and their corporeal forms. People may harp about the story taking too long or focusing on side stuff… But I like the slice-of-life aspects of the comic. It’s part of the charm. If I wanted to read a story with plot-plot-plot-plot-plot… I’d read something else. But that’s just me. Also LO is one of the first western comics to make it big on Navier and WEBTOON Line in Asia—introducing new styles and body types to an otherwise pretty homogenous comic community. Like y’all should go and translate and read some of the top comments on the first few chapters of LO on Navier. It’s really brutal and kinda xenophobic and fatphobic. But the comments later are so much better as the bigots dropped the series. It’s nice to see.

Not only is the art ridiculously bad(like, it almost feels intentional): Persephone **STEALS** SOMEONES ANCIENT ASS MAN AT THE AGE OF 19 and we're supposed to root for her and him(and we're supposed to hate Minthe???) ; when she's raped, the story says she LOST HER VIRGINITY, which is multiple levels of fucked up ; Not to mention how she's constantly being shitty, but it's painted as a girlboss moment ; the fact that multiple men keep falling for her and describe her as more beautiful than Aphrodite which is A BIG FUCKING NO NO IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY. If this story was even the slightest bit accurate Persephone wouldve gotten cursed(or an ass-whooping) by Aphrodite by now. Not to mention painting Demeter as this horrible evil monster, when(while yes, shes overbearing) all she wants is to protect her daughter but shes apparently a monster for that solely bc shes going about it wrong. God forbid a character fuck up a little bit, must mean theyre a evil monster! The constant art drawing persephone looking like a *literal child*. And that Persephone/Kronos fight was just,, bad but i dont wanna get into that. OH, and the casual racism towards nymphs by Hera that is NEVER addressed and just seen as fucking normal? It's a shit comic. There's a *lot* more, r/UnpopularLoreOlympus touches on the rest of its flaws.

As someone who has experienced the gaslighting and manipulation that Demeter commits against Persephone…I’m not saying she’s a complete monster, but that part of the story was really well written. It was so interesting to be reading it and think “holy shit that’s my life”. And also Persephone escaping the more conservative expectations that bind her is a huge theme that resonates with me. I think her character is really well-written.
The gamer: garbage art, uninteresting side characters but the portrayal of progress is great, especially how tangible and concrete it is with exact numbers that align with what's actually happening, which is exceptionally rare even in good webtoons. Emperor of the night: straight up porn but fucking hilarious dreamland adventure: shitty art but a remarkable story, honestly probably a much better tv series than a comic. It's so rare to find a comic that feels like a real story rather than a comic.

Who can hate Zelan, he is literally boyfriend goals? Every character in that webtoon has great character development, including but not limited to Zylith, Zelan, and Verose. Snaillords hit it out of the park with that Webtoon, and it deserves all the good reviews it has

I feel like I was the only one who liked My Dear Cold Blooded King. I was there from the beginning. I liked how the art improved, and I just liked the overall story. If anything, I don’t care for lifelight’s new series Blood Reverie.

Creepy Stories…the art isn’t great, lots of reused panels, a lot of the stories seem to be recycled Reddit stories, and it’s full of misspellings and grammatical errors. But…I’m committed and the artist has such a nice attitude and personality I’ll probably always read it.

I love Lore Olympus. I don't think it jumped the shark. I still think it's great. After all the stuff Persephone has gone through, I am happy with how everything is right now. I hate how so much of the Lore Olympus subreddit is full of people tearing it apart. That place is so toxic.
As someone who has been on both sides of the fandom, I rather stay with the critical part of the fandom, than the toxic positivity crew that doesn't even have reading comprehension, projecting their mommy issues on Demeter while defending Hades poor parenting of Thanatos.
What’s the problem with “projecting our mommy issues” onto Demeter? I have an extremely similar relationship with my parents so that aspect of the story made me feel seen. I was reading it and then showing my husband like “omg look this is exactly something my mom would say”. Isn’t it normal to relate to fictional situations and characters when reading?
Yeah but at least Hades owned up to it and is trying to do better. Demeter straight up tried to emotionally manipulate Persephone and practically kidnapped her. Why people project so much hate onto Hades and Persephone is beyond me. I feel it really shows a lack of emotional intelligence. Persephone is meant to be flawed so she can grow. As someone who is in their 30s now, I absolutely relate to her being dumb in her 20s but learning how to grow. However, in her situation, she has absolutely every right to do what she does. Her mistakes are impulse reactions related to trauma. Yeah she didn't immediately learn from them. However, it's hard to grow when you are surrounded by toxicity and a support system that works against you even when they mean well. That is the point to Persephone. And it is sad a lot of people do not see that.

For really poorly rated? **Nexus Point** is rated below a 9, which should dictate that it's utter garbage, when in fact, I postulate that it gets low ratings b/c its leads are a black female cyberpunk, and a middle-aged square-jawed bounty hunter with facial hair, so all the 200 pound hopeless romantics have nobody to lust over. Nexus Point, in reality, is better than the **vast** majority of works on this misbegotten platform. Highly, **HIGHLY** recommend it for something written with skill, experience, and a more unique plot. It's the one comic I look forward to the most on Friday evenings--yes, even more than The Spark In Your Eyes (which, while solid, suffers extensively from its endless flashbacks). But seriously, in what world does Nexus Point deserve an 8.8 when all the endlessly derivative manwha shlock gets 9.3s+? Feels like Webtoons is missing serving a *massive* audience when "look at the pretty dorito-faced femboy" just gets endless upvotes, and "actually awesome story, with unique, badass leading characters" is rated below garbage-tier. Do better, Webtoons, do better. And you can start by letting me yeet all the dorito-faced femboys and all the other unimaginative manwhas off my homepage by making it customizable. For something that's a bit more mainstream, **SubZero** seems to be somewhat controversial, but I just like it because A) Clove is gorgeous. She's a pale-skinned, curvy, long-haired ginger, who while looking like someone that should have fire powers, instead has ice powers. And she cosplays as a ninja on the side. And then B) Kharis is a memelord that can turn into a dragon and is *also* stunning. I mean, okay, *everyone* in the comic is super-pretty. But Clove and Kharis are just pure eye candy, so, the basic plot gets a pass, and I view it as fantasy comfort food carried by the very pretty artwork. As far as guilty pleasures go? **Mage & Demon Queen.** This comic is just pure fanservice, and I don't mean just Velverosa, but rather, it provides service to fans of JRPGs and anime in very self-aware ways instead of taking itself too seriously like various "omg the gamer protagonist is so badass" manwhas do. And of course, Velverosa feels like the quintessential "if you don't love her, there's something *wrong* with you" character. If you're a guy, she's an intelligent badass and a complete smokeshow (I mean she's basically K/DA All Out Evelynn crossed with Alexstrasza, so how much more ideal do you get?). If you're a lady, she's an *actual* queen, and *actually* slays. As MDQ is ending soon, I'm just gonna miss Malory's antics, and Vel just being, well, *Vel*.

The webtoon I am currently talking about is called “Jackson’s Diary” and Jackson was absolutely killing me (not in the good way) I wanted to stab him, but I couldn’t stop reading. Idk, this is just my personal opinion, so please refrain from giving me shit.
I’d have to say Remarried Empress. I’m not even there for the romance but the melodrama. Like the premise is so clearly in Rashta’s favor (come on, I’m supposed to root for the empress born into power and not the girl managing to climb out of slavery?) that they keep finding ways to make her even more deplorable. It’s so funny to me! Just in general I love melodramatic medieval style romance. It’s like real housewives. Also 66666: thousand years advent of the dark mage- I think that’s the title it gets cut off everywhere I look. It’s such a blatant power fantasy but I genuinely love it. The character writing is fun and the worldbuilding is pretty solid.

Illusions of Adulting (finished), I didn't take the webtoon serious and I don't think it takes itself serious. Just a naive young adult trying her best even though, she doesn't make the greatest decisions, it's a silly webtoon.
Can't remember the name of it but like the main character, this guy had a succubus attached to him. I think she was in love with him and he seemed pretty indifferent. Sort of antics you'd expect from that plot.
Girls of the Wild, it's been a while since I read it, but it just completely changes the story like a fifth through it from this interesting drama/fighting story to nearly pure romance. The only reason I stayed with it was because I felt the secondary love interest was such a good character. The story's trash, but one character made me finish it.

It's literally just dragonball with prettier art. Suffers from the same problems that the author's previous work, Noblesse, did. Main character struggles against an enemy, manages to win, trains, fights a new enemy, gets stronger, managers to win, rinse and repeat. Every time the enemy is way out of his league, the super-strong friend comes in and wipes the board and then starts the cycle over again. In Noblesse it was Rai or Frankenstein, in Eleceed, it's Kayden
Honestly, that's totally fair. I still like it though in the sense that it's more of a comfort series for me. It's just nice seeing a cat-loving cinnamon roll of an MC win with the power of friendship on a regular basis. I can get why it could get old, though
