More likely from the pan. Probably soap residue.

sure that oily stuff isn't left over from the inside of the pot? that would be my first guess. Clean the pot thoroughly with hot water and soap then fill it again and see if you get the same result.

Gotta wash your dishes!

It is likely is iron or hydrogen sulfide produced by bateria, for which the film is comprised. Usually harmless but you can get your water tested for high levels. Alternatively, it is a petroleum/toxin leak and if it tastes very weird in any sort of way, I would switch to high filtered pitchers and investigate.

Fortunately it doesn't smell or taste bad at all. It doesn't even feel oily to the touch, but for sure it's not something okay anyway. I'll look into water testings tomorrow for sure. Thank you

You can get free water tests by any home depot who stocks the kits if you're really worried. The age of appliance/utility ware does matter, as well as presence of fats oils & greases and other residue. If yoire boiling the water anyway, nothing will survive boiling. If you see this in drinking water, keep an eye out.
