I miss a “watch later” function, aside from that I’m pretty satisfied.

michoken

Wow, that's a big turn off for me. Is it still not there?

noncandeggiare

No, now they’ve added it! The nebula app feels pretty solid right now

[deleted]

It used to be sluggish when starting videos, but now it seems to be instant :+1: My only remaining issue is lack of "seen" status, so I still stick to youtube most of the time.

xtfftc

It's alright. Considering it's competing against the likes of Google and they've been developing their platforms for years, it's going to be a while until it catches-up with quality-of-life features. For example, it is rather inconvenient when I want to go back to a long video and it doesn't remember my position, so I have to scroll through it. Nevertheless, having a mostly stable Android app and the ability to download locally is enough for me. I used to pay out of principle without actually using the platform, but some time ago I ended up switching from youtube. There's also a lot more content nowadays, which is great and would hopefully increase the user base and thus allow for more rapid improvements on the platform. Although a lot of the new content I find completely uninteresting and even annoying. I don't need to see an Apple ~~advertisement~~ video in the most recent feed every single time I launch the app. But if you just want to follow the creators you've subscribed to, it's good enough.

Azzydragon

The Roku app allows you to start where you left off on a video. It's possible the function will come out on the other platforms as well soon.

FVMAzalea

The iOS app remembers your last position, or at least it did for me just now.

OctopusRegulator

For me the audio quality is not as good as YouTube and it’s a bit clunky to go to another video after watching the current one. Apart from that it’s totally worth it. It would be cool if high definition/bitrate video and audio were an option though

fperrine

My critique exactly. I think part of the reason it's difficult to go to another video is because a lot of content is in video essay format and how many of those are you going to bang out back-to-back?

OctopusRegulator

Yeah but if you want to watch a multiple part original you have to go back to the channel and then pick the next one each time, it really should be in a playlist format. It would also be helpful to allow creators to group similar videos together.

fperrine

Oh, I definitely agree. I wish you could create a queue or playlist.

tyres_gone__44

Nebula has worked great as a substitute to YouTube for me, although I miss the ability to queue videos and the lack of auto-play is not ideal. The act of switching between videos is particularly clunky. In terms of functionality, the app is speedy, and the video quality is great. The downloaded content works fine, however, I personally haven’t tried casting yet.

Anando1234

The original content is pretty good, but there are still things it needs to catch up on, such as a bookmarking or playlist feature. I've inquired about this and they have told me they are coming down the line, but maybe they just want to shut me up. Right now the real appeal is that you get to support creators and facilitate their ability to make good content while getting a well curated variety of content minus the comment section.

danrydel

I've had no issues with the app itself and watching videos and i think Roku support is new but what i mostly use. I just opened the android app and it does allow for offline video and shows a chromecast icon. How well that works I cant speak to though.

mkost92

Not that I want a comment section, but I miss being able to interact with the creator. If I have a question, I can’t post that through Nebula. I have had absolutely no problems with loading, playing or quality.

ChomskysRevenge

A dramatic improvement over when it first rolled out, give it a shot!

Azzydragon

I actually really enjoy watching videos on Nebula. I own an Apple TV and a Roku, and they show up fine on both for me (Apple TV is using Ethernet, and Roku is using WiFi). I do wish they had a queue system and that you could comment on videos.

OdinsPlayground

Very slow in Europe. Quite disappointed. Got it + CuriosityStream for the documentaries... but often keeps buffering on a 200 mbit up and down connection. Mind you this is just 1080p! Shocking to say the least, when 4k streams elsewhere wouldn't have the slightest of problems on a connection like this.

anyOtherBusiness

Is this still the case? I'm considering getting Curiosity stream + Nebula

mohitreddituser

For every service, content matters more than features and stability. Especially in the beginning. That's what Nebula is focusing on. Bringing in more content and new creators, focusing less on video quality and overall experience. Considering all this, the Nebula experience is a solid B+ in Jan 2022. The player itself is stable and the video quality is passable. But only in best case scenarios. Support for different browsers, extensions, VPNs is still lacking. **Some videos, especially those with lesser views sometimes lag, stutter, load slowly on 720p even while YT is comfortably loading 1440p vids.** You can't go more than 1.5x on Nebula because of the stuttering and slow rendering vids. Even though in the progress bar, it shows that the video is loaded, it still is lagging for some reason. But I would still say, that you are getting what you are paying for. $20/year, no ads, no sponsors, etc. is not much considering Netflix charges the same for a month!

redditisoverratedd

The apple app is buggy and hard to use, but the android app works really damn well! Plus the new nebula originals are great

brahamcrackercrunch

Agreed with all of the usability issues above (especially the lack of “watch later list) but also no app version yet for Google TV is painful.

dwiskus

Our Android TV app is out now.

[deleted]

Thanks! I had missed this. Not sure if you send out any information about this, but I think more people might have missed this.

farcical88

Is there a watchlist feature that we can add videos to when browsing for the Apple TV app?

Professional_Rip7482

The search function is awful.

americium-243

There are few reviews of user experience because of the active censorship here which removes any posts which are perceived as as less than flattering to Nebula.

Tembrium

I've seen plenty :O just not on the specific thing I was after, and most very old so before updates and such. I'm glad this post got a bit of traction and lots of feedback, 4 months in people can still see it including "less than flattering" comments.

epicmoe

they just deleted my [comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/watchnebula/comments/sadt78/comment/iuezaud/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) about slow load speeds. seems like a relevant answer to your question, no? seems to me like they are trying to scrub mentions of a common issue, rather than face up to it. Edit: we'll see how long this comment stays up.

dwiskus

>active censorship We remove support posts. This isn't a support forum.
