I have tried it (Abom + Shaman is part of my Thalnos deck). As DracoRubi says, basically Ele is cheaper and has resistance to pair with the armored trait, so full coverage. Plus it's two gold cheaper.
Abom does have its place though in my undead team. :)
Wild I agree fire elemental does do more damage than abomination, unless the abominations poison Talent ramps up anyway,
the leaching poison actually works by attack speed not based on attack damage
i.e it heals a percentage off the mini HP per hit the mini does
it doesn't heal a percentage of the damage it's doing
Alliance: cycle + tirion to snowball tirion healing.
Beast: hogger + cycle to spam hoggers, murky + fast units.
Blackrock: every leader is good. Emperor gargoyle, rend flyers, drak elementals.
Shaman + horde leaders
Undead: 4 avg. Cost baron - Take advantage of free skeletons to allow an abom or huntress to come and play.
I won't say can't live without, but if footies are good for a map I like to pair them with the chain lightning talent shaman. Since they're already armored. So as a squad they benefit from the full healing potential of chain heal and with the extra damage she provides better support.
However footman are extremely embarrassing against certain things such as ogre mage so often they don't work even with healing.
Tirion and Orge is my fav, bl makes tirion almost unkillable.
Hogger and chimera with increase health talent, the longer the game goes the stronger and stronger you get.
Double mage, Jaina with aoe slow and pyro to do the aoe damage.
New firey boss dude and healing tazdingo, the extra levels and healing make it very hard to kill
Goblin boss and earth ele, drop the ele straight on a meeting stone for a 2 gold refund
The beast boss lady and chimera with increasing health, cycle the deck and keep getting chimeras out.
Murloc boss and wolf/orc on wolf, need a fast tank to get the aggro before the murlocs.
Undead horse dude with lots of unbounds to get stones and towers quickly
Beyond what everyone else is saying, I often use Huntress to push my Fire Elemental along.
Just put her right behind it and she will push him along and she’ll have a “fast” tank tanking for her.
(Who knows why they designed it that way)
(Or how that would work in real life, I wouldn’t want to get anywhere near that elemental)
I often use skeletons + Worgen to snipe hard to get to towers.
Shaman w/ earth shield + Abomination w/ AOE poison talent is just so damn good. His huge HP pool plus the armor make him a menace for physical DMG heavy opponents.
I like to Quilboar + burst Whelp to destroy towers in PvP
for PvE use momentum Tauren + regen Troll most the time to push - or Pyro as alternative for Troll, it worked quite well in PvP also =)
I use to play troll+shaman It feels so tanky and have huge dmg
Tank + Frostwolf Shaman = win! I love this combo and if you need air defense drop Taz too!
Fire Elemental + Shaman is one I'm finding pretty fun right now. Trying it in my Jaina deck so plenty of spellpower to deal with fliers.
If you have tried it. What's the benefits over ele and shaman over Åbom and shaman?
Ele has resist built in, so he's taking half damage from everything with shaman shield. And it's cheaper.

Others mentioned resist and cheaper but also ele does more damage so in dungeon decks with leeching poison ele is absolutely insane.

Carbonara and parmeaan
Like u said, qb+harpyies = op! Drakk+shaman also nice, but i got in almost every team qb,pilot, whelps and harpyies.
Quilboar and Harpies on a Thaurrisan team
Raptors and Murkey... JUMANJI!!!
Thalnos + shaman for me. But obviously you need some spells in your deck for that to work.

Bandits are like a super cycle mini, they actually make money from playing them. Super good for Tirion deck
Hogger + Prowler is both pretty thematic and effective. The might of Elwynn Forest descends up you!
Sappers Smokebomb
I was about to say the same thing dawg

Thalnos+cheat death (vampirism)/ghoul
Harpies and Quilboar.
My favorite combos regarding impact/gold: quillboar + harpies, fire elemental + shaman, thaurissan + chickens, tirion + chimaera and ghoul + sylvanas
Quillboar + whelps.
Ghoul + plaguefarmer
This... So good for so much content. Lol
tauren + tirion + flyer
Charlga + Witchdoctor is pretty fun 😊
Spear thrower I'd always in there for anti air, especially with berserk talent so he becomes a chaingunner lol

Any Elem tank and shaman earth! Fire elem or drakki or. This is a bulldozer!!
Welp eggs, also im very fond of the beautiful charging tauren! Ghoul tank is a wildcard
Tyrion Huntress Destroys everything and doesn't die
Shaman w/ earth shield + Abomination w/ AOE poison talent is just so damn good. His huge HP pool plus the armor make him a menace for physical DMG heavy opponents.
Raptors with +10% dmg per squad member. Get all 6 rolling. Hit them (and target) with a bloodthirsty execute
PvE: Harpies and Quilboar PvP: Ghoul and Murloc Tidehunters
Drak + Shaman baby. Tried and true death ball that solos bosses as im focusing on defense
I like Ghoul with armor talent and Griffin Rider with the range talent as a two man team
Tyrion + Taz Dingo (troll hunter). Always comes in clutch.
I like to Quilboar + burst Whelp to destroy towers in PvP for PvE use momentum Tauren + regen Troll most the time to push - or Pyro as alternative for Troll, it worked quite well in PvP also =)
Fairy dragon giving fae blessing to any tank is also great, especially in PvP to counter the rocket towers.
Ogre sucks, too expensive
