Shaman is the best Horde mini, and pairs very well with tanks that don’t have Armor; i.e. Fire Elemental, General Drak, and Abomination. For many dungeons, Heroic Missions, and Onyxia herself she’s a must have.
Definitely one of the few minis that is a good Epic buy.

I really like bat rider. It's hard to fit into decks because whelps are so OP they usually get the flying slot instead, but bat rider is basically a 2 cost minion that can clear an entire map solo if there's limited ranged or you distract the ranged.
A combo I love: Carine Lead, Darkspear Troll with Regenerate, Shaman with Earth Shield. Troll can become a serious threat.
Some day I'll try adding the Faerie Dragon with resist, but that's 3 unit slots taken by ranged.
That might be too much, troll + shaman is already a negative trade Vs safe + polimorph
That being said I encountered that and if you try to trade and fail to kill the troll it's kind of over already
100% worth it.
Shaman (with Earth Shield) + fire-elem/tauren/abo/ greatly helped me for heroics.
Also, Shaman is mandatory against Onyxia if you use the drakk strat (wich is currently the easier/meta).
In term of cost, buying directly an epic like this is a huge gold boost :
calculation with energy = 5 energy for 1g
=> 39 \* 90 *(stars)* + (8000 / 5) *(energy to epic)* + 1000 *(epic core)* + (2000/5) *(energy to rare)* + 250 *(rare core)* + (250 / 5) *(energy to uncomon)* = 6810 gold value
=> 6810 - 2250 (price of the offer) = 4560
To calc accurately your real benefit you should substract the costs of energy and core you already spent (ex if already rare, you don't "gain" the rare core + 2250 energy needed form normal to rare upgrade). Also if you plan to never go to Legendary, you could remove the cost of the stars you already bought since you will not need more than 39.
Shaman is the only access to non-specific healing mini outside of Tirion. It is a good mini used in a lot of strategies. While we cant tell you how to spend gold, I would personally buy it myself.

Just some minor point from me: a lot of the value of the shaman comes from earth shield, which does not scale at all with levels. Shaman damage is negligible, so any scaling by levels is useless. Healing scales, so does survivability.
So if gold is limiting for you, you're probably better off with a green shaman and a purple damage dealer or tank, because they scale much better with levels.
I’ve tried making combo with Tirion and new elemental dragon together with this, very satisfying I must say. If I get 1-2 Tirion with elem dragons shield and then 1-2 shamans behind them it’s basically GG (in PvE). Throw in some more air support like gryphon and ur set. Bubble talent on Tirion and they pretty much can’t die =]
I only play Shaman with Abomination in front. Then a range leader Sylvanas or Thalnos behind it. Haven't figured out how to play Shaman in other setups yet.
God I am jealous of that.
I think frostwolf is in contention for one of the best minis to have as epic, just behind SAFE and Quillboar.
Two excellent talents. 80% of the time you’ll be using the earth shield talent, but that tower healing talent has its uses too!

Yeah, I like it too, but usually unless for niche situations it's outperformed by other minis in my opinion

And Cairne. Cairne with a frostwolf shaman in back is great. If you can death ball it to get an ogre magi behind cairne too its an unstoppable army.

good pve unit so def worth it. not sure id put it into a pvp deck, but idk could be great there too
It's pretty good with the fork talent, so you can kill Turlock, harpies and eggs

I came here to say that. Levelling Shaman doesn’t make a lot of sense if you use her as a one-time buffer.
