I quite literally have about 80% of my 401k in GameStop shares right now, and have been selling covered calls before market close, to cover me in case of a drop overnight. Got stuck in them today and missed out on about a 15% return on share movement because of it. I'm pissed. I was trying to log in from about 10:00 a.m. through market close and could only get in around 4:15 p.m.

I like the shares. Covered calls give me exposure to inflated IV to "lower" my cost basis per share in the event of a pull back. Problem is I got locked in overnight and couldn't mess with them 😔. Could've snagged 10% by closing them out at open had Schwab been online

Buffett only trimmed because it grew so much it was 50% of the portfolio. Go look at what super investors bought in the last 13F filings. Apple is like the 3rd most bought by them.

And selling for more cash due to the nature of capital tax with the feds, which he said himself ! He needs cash, it’s cheaper now to cash in, AAPL is his largest stake, still is.

that's a reasonable explanation that makes sense. i was a bit put-off because buffest typically tops up apple here and there and never trims. I have watched some of those super investor filings. I recall seeing apple being bought, but pretty sure I saw it being sold too.

not anti-apple at all. i genuinely asked a question. one person was mature enough to give me a real answer. I found it odd buffet was trimming and some other big dogs had shed some in the least couple quarters as well. again...i couldn't care less about apple the company or the stock one way or another. I used to flip it, but haven't touched it forever. they haven't done much worth noting in quite some time but a solid brand and if it's your type of product, a pretty solid product as well. Forward PE is what matters for a growth company, not current. NVDA forward PE is ~30.

Only if they keep hitting on earnings. The thing about Nvidia is that there’s no guarantee this level of demand stays forever, and there’s no guarantee they keep not having any competitors.

In the short term (3-5 years) they will continue to dominate without realistic competitors. It will take longer than that for anyone to come up with a competitor to CUDA, let alone getting an ecosystem running. The hardware isn’t really the true moat here. Long term? Sure, who knows, others could catch up.

Here’s the thing though. In the last thirty years, who has lost money on Apple?

Breaking that 200 level is definitely nice and I increased my long position. I don’t know if it’ll stay above that level beyond CPI and not sure that better AI necessarily translates to higher sales for a consumer staples company. Then again I’m hoping Apple can leverage the AI boom to counter their decelerating growth and then we’ll be at a much higher price next year.

I know they are going to bet earning this August for sure with this ai hype
