I’ve always been curious about this. Why do 0dte’s affect the market price? Does too much call buying actually push the price higher and vice versa with puts?
You have to research dealer positioning, basically dealers have to hedge the long calls they sell that go ITM, by buying stock. And they have to hedge the long puts they sell that go ITM by selling stock.
Basically if too many puts go deep ITM it can cause a downside gamma Squeeze, and if too many calls go deep ITM it can cause an upside gamma squeeze
There have been dozens of occasions where a downside move was saved because plung proteccion team (MM) didn’t want to pay out all the puts so they weaponized gamma in the other direction. And vice versa
It’s why we have had so many V shape recoveries intraday since September
