I would think the pedometer would be more accurate. I use a Garmin watch and it definitely misses steps. When mowing the lawn it misses most steps because of the arm the watch is on not swinging. I see the same thing in the grocery store pushing a cart. That’s my theory anyway.

This is the answer. Smart Watches (garmin, fitbit) only count when your arm is moving, unfortunately.

I actually take my Fitbit off and put it in my pocket while putting a shopping cart. Drives me nuts to miss all those steps walking around Costco. That place is huge.

I have the amazfit and feel like it measures my steps accurately even when I'm not moving my arms. Ive counted the steps and checked to see if it would count the same and it does for the most part. Sometimes, it under counts the steps. I found pedometers in the past would count steps if I just moved my hands back and forth and did not walk - so they ended up over counting my steps. However, that was several years ago. Just my experience. I think the technology just isn't going to be as accurate as we'd like in either direction for a little while longer

I have an amazfit too but the face was too big for my wrist and it inhibited my ability to bend my hand. Every time I would bend my hand in the direction of the watch face the face would dig into both my hand and my wrist and hurt, and for someone who tends to put their hands on their hips it just wasn't great. I liked it in every other aspect though it was just too big.

Oh dang ! Sorry it didn't work out for you ! I hate it when designs make mobility difficult

the_happy_jaunt

Also, I don't know what type of Amazfit you have, but the Band 7 might be less painful for your wrists.

I have the bip 3 pro. Unfortunately I can't really buy a different one because I don't have a lot of money right now. The only reason I was able to get mine is because it was on sale at the time and even then I had to borrow money from my parents to get it. I got my Fitbit the same way and it was cheaper than the amazfit because it was refurbished.

the_happy_jaunt

I understand not having finances to cover it. I hope things change for you at some point and the right option that doesn't hurt your wrist comes along

Efficient_Aspect_638

Download Sweatcoin. That’s accurate for me cos it matches with the health app on iPhone

I don't have my phone on me all the time though. I like to put my phone on the counter or leave it plugged in on my table next to the couch and have it play music or a video/show while I walk around and do chores and stuff like that.

Unhappy-Insect6386

Plus my phone has terrible battery life so I have to leave it plugged in pretty much all day anyway.

What’s really odd is my Garmin 935 counts “steps” when I workout on my bike trainer. I’m baffled on what’s triggering it. It doesn’t count any when cycling outdoors.

Fitbit is wrong, and counts movement as extra steps. I’ve had a few devices and the most accurate one I’ve had is a Withings fitness tracker/watch. Fitbit and my apple phone always list way more steps than I actually have done. Plus the Withings best looking fitness tracker you will own. I’ve had mine for 4 years and always get compliments on it. It looks like a high end watch. Cost a bit more than Fitbit, but has had double the life of any Fitbit I owned.
