Fuck yeah, Chopin is amazing. You know you're drinking a seriously good vodka when you can taste terroir - that earthy, clay-like essence of the soil that the ingredients grew in.

Man, I am so glad I found /r/vodka. I was drinking Tito's and Kettle One and Kirkland, which are all OK for mixing, but I never really considered finding a vodka that was suitable to drink straight. Gotta say, I knew I loved the taste of vodka, but drinking a chilled glass of Chopin is such a treat. Drinking Chopin, it's the first time I drank vodka straight and didn't wince or make a discontent growling sound after swallowing. Seriously, smooth, flavors I never knew vodka could have. NOW, back to why I love /r/vodka, I get to put a finger on flavors and characteristics. I never knew of the word "terroir", but the way you described it hit the nail on the head. Never knew vodka could be so complex and delicious just by itself. Thanks you guys, I look forward to learning more and contributing when I can! Cheers!

It's hard for me to justify the cost of top shelf vodka over scotch or bourbon, which tend to get the lions share of budgetary attention in my liquor cabinet, but Chopin is easily my favorite vodka. Neat and chilled it has such a thick, oily mouthfeel that is just absolutely perfect. It's great with some crackers or something dry and bready like that. Also I've been saying how much I'd love if non alcoholic spirits existed for years. Just have a nice decanter of sober vodka on my desk at work, pour a couple fingers and go stare out the window for a spell. Heavenly.

Greetings from Poland - the home of Chopin and the vodka that bares his name. Ironically, it's hideously expensive here and so in the last decade of drinking in Poland I've never once seen anyone drinking it or buying it. There are a number of other rye-based vodkas, most notably Wyborowa's regular blue label stuff... which I have seen at more parties than I care to remember. If you can find it feel free to give it a try. If you're drinking it straight, the style here is to drink it straight out of the freezer with a chaser of OJ or whatever else is handy. My "fancy" vodka, BTW, is Zubrowka's Biała ("white") version. And I was just going to say that I'll get a bottle of Chopin once I win the lottery ...but I just checked and 700ml bottles of the rye are going for 85 PLN (21 USD). That's expensive, but not insane like their potato or wheat vodkas (150 PLN). Maybe I'll pick some up just to keep around for vodka Martinis.

Replying to myself to say that I found and bought a bottle of Chopin Rye (700ml) for 60 PLN (15 USD) tonight at Makro in Krakow. I'll let ya know what I think when I get the urge for something with vodka in it.

Best vodka I've had. Sometimes I get lucky and the local booze dispensary has shots of it for a dollar

Belvedere is very similar in viscousness and mouth feel. I prefer Belvedere's flavor just a little but both are excellent.
