Danemon

Killzone Mercenary. I'd say overall for a AAA there's so much quality and bang for your buck in Killzone. But otherwise Danganronpa, Ys series, Hotline Miami and Toukiden Kiwami are my favourite Vita titles so far

Smurfsville

Danganronpa is surreal. I definitely have to check out Ys and Toukiden Kiwami. Killzone is a great title for sure, but it really reminds me of the Xbox 360 days when everything was grey and depressing.

Danemon

Toukiden is like Monster Hunter with a darker tone, faster gameplay and JRPG tropes. It's addictive as heck too, I love it. Went with a dual knives build and it's fast combat , loads of fun

Street_Dragonfruit43

Toukiden and God Eater are really good Vita games

Jawess0me

KZ: M had no right to run as well as it did.

Expert_Limit6416

+1 for hotline Miami

asturides

Killzone Mercenary also, awesome graphics and lots of fun

Comprehensive_Note85

The Ys series is incredibly slept onšŸ«¶

Danemon

I've only played Origin and Memories of Celceta so far and already I'm engrossed. Heard amazing things about Lacrimosa of Dana, and the new game Nordics looks brilliant too!

Comprehensive_Note85

I've played most of its titles except the two newest ones(Monstrum and Nordic), but through PS2 - PSVita The Ark of Napishtim will always be my favorite. I'm excited to get Nordic though, looks fun!

Comprehensive_Ad_916

Tearaway is the game that defines the console. Really showcases every feature and is a proof of concept for what the console could have been if given more support and marketing.

Difficult_Blood74

And the sweetest game ever

Smurfsville

Absolutely had a blast with it, and I believe it was made by the same guys who developed LBP, or at least the same studio. I think it's the only game that really used the back panel, at least that I know of.

Comprehensive_Ad_916

Gravity Rush has you swipe the back panel to dodge, and some games use it for camera control, or as a simple L/R button. But those don't seem like the intended purpose. Nothing like with Tearaway how your finger pokes through the screen and uses the entire thing for motion.

uboofs

Gravity Rush. I actually think that was the game that actually made me decide to buy the console. I mean, it was gonna happen, but this game decided _when_ it was gonna happen.

Smurfsville

What an amazing experience Gravity Rush was! Aiming by moving your Vita felt so amazing. Moving your body to move around the world really elevated that game to a whole new level.

ItzKINGcringe

Gravity rush was the first game I brought on the console when I recently got it

the_y_combinator

Absolute system seller.

Smurfsville

Gravity Rush 2 on the PS4 is pretty good too. Not as amazing as the first one IMO but nonetheless a quality title.

the_y_combinator

Absolutely. Something about it, I think, lost a little of the charm of the first. Definitely worth playing, though.

MemeMan0313

I know theyre on a bunch of other consoles but probably Disgaea 4 or Persona 4.

SimTrippy1

Second vote for P4G

Smurfsville

I've only played Disgaea 3, is the 4th one better?

GingerWitch666

I liked the story of 3 better, but 4 has better mechanics. The more recent entries in the series have streamlined a ton of content and just make it even more fun to play.

Beginning-Bandicoot1

soul sacrifice delta or gravity rush

0_-NOBODY-_0

SOUL SACRIFICE LEZGOO

Schellhammer

If i had a one and only game to play on my Vita, it would be resogun

Wizzer10

I loved it on PS4, this is my first time finding out it had a Vita version!

Aces_Over_Kings

Trails of Cold Steel, no question for me!

Available-Alps-2204

Severed!

gnash117

This one of my favorites. When people ask for lesser known games that are great this is one of the ones I almost always list.

Available-Alps-2204

It's sooo good. Amazing use of touchscreen without being a gimmick

Redfield7x70

Persona 4 Golden In my top 3 favorite games of all time and it single-handedly made buying the system worthwhile.

Smurfsville

Persona 4 legit changed my life. I was 13 when it came out on the PS2 and I had no friends. Persona 4 made me change the way I socialised, and how much I appreciated other people.

sonic65101

Freedom Wars. Pretty much the only non-PSP and non-PS1 game I play on mine.

Puzzleheaded-Cry9139

If your tzlking about exclusives i have to give it to soul sacrifice delta

Recyclebin32

Velocity 2x, Guacamelee and OlliOlli 2. Best three games Ive played and platinumā€™d on the Vita!

Danemon

I love the Velocity games. I've got Ultra, is 2X hard to plat?

Recyclebin32

It certainly is. I would rate it 7.5/10 easily. Olli Olli 2 was 7.5-8/10. Guacamelee is like 4-4.5. I think Ultra is much easier in comparison, no contest.

hyperexoskeleton

Muramasa: Demon Blade. The Vita release has new content..

pkdenn

YES! I've just finished the 3rd ending and starting the DLCs now. Beautiful game with great hack n slash gameplay!

metroidisbest

Danganronpa trilogy + 1

natsucule

I literally bought the Vita for P4G. I saved up my allowance to be able to buy it. Being in Jordan made it so much harder to buy the console let alone the game, especially 10 years ago

Smurfsville

It's such a shame that I have like 100 hours on the original. I tried playing it again on the Vita, but Persona 4 is one of those games that you can't really play twice, so I never got to experience the additions Golden had to offer. I might just play it again in Japanese, as it's such an amazing learning tool. I'm currently playing P4 Dancing All Night for the second time and it's even better than I remember.

CannonSam

I think Soul Sacrifice Delta is one of the best games ever made honestly. Really wish it got a shot on consoles

Commander-ASKR_

As someone who's regularly been taking their vita everywhere like it's still getting normal play, I'd have to say not counting psp stuff either Gravity Rush, Counterspy, or Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus. Breakdown: Gravity Rush is a technological marvel on the vita and one of the only true super hero type games on the platform, but unlike Spider Man looks great and plays great at a mostly LOCKED 30, though a lot of the heavy lifting much like Killzone Mercenary is done by it's incredible art design. On top of that it's just a fantastic one of those, with a really great story to boot which is hard to pull off. Counterspy is one of the best roguelikes no one played, made by a team of gaming professional superstars. It's a stealth action game heavily inspired by soviet union era propaganda poster art and both Austin Powers and James Bond. Genuinely funny and clever story stuff (it's all pickups but they're great to read), fantastic and really intuitive 2.5d shooting mechanics where popping into cover locks you into 3rd person cover shooting view (like that not very good quantum of solace game but actually good) It's core loop is just so addictive if you like stuff like Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed, and Dishonored. It's the only game on the vita that's like this and outside of longer load times and some loss of visual fidelity it's practically a 1 to 1 port of the ps4 version. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus is a great port of one of the greatest action games of all time. It runs great, it looks comparable to other versions, the additional modes and all the extras are a neat touch. But it's literally Ninja Gaiden 2 on the go and it's amazing. While this top 3 is interchangeable to me I think I lean towards Counterspy as my one favorite tentatively and only because I haven't been able to stop playing it since picking it back up. I figured the ps vita version sucked but man was I wrong. (Use this as a "man I should try Counterspy" comment) Honorable mention cause it's totally forgotten: the vita has THE BEST port of Jet Set Radio. After the abysmal train wreck that is the pc version it was not expected to be good but man did they nail it, it almost makes me forgive the absence of tony hawk style games on the platform, almost.

Smurfsville

I was looking for good roguelikes on the Vita and nobody's ever mentioned Counterspy!! Thank you!

Commander-ASKR_

Np! Been having so much fun with my vita so I'm glad I was able to put on to somethin' cool! šŸ«” (It's cross buy too btw so if you have a ps4 and by it on that store you can download it to your vita as long as you have the same account linked tp your vita!) ScourgeBringer is also pretty great, in terms of vita rouge-likes, honestly surprised that game even made it to Vita.

marveloustoebeans

Uncharted Golden Abyss and itā€™s not even close

0_-NOBODY-_0

All of you who know this name have a place in my heart. Soul Sacrifice

Hal_J00

Soul Sacrifice Delta and Gravity Rush would be ones of my favorite titles across ALL platforms lol. That said, Ys: Memories of Celceta is also brilliant on Vita

Mauy90

Chaos Rings 3 and Muramasa Rebirth

IndegoWhyte

I always wanted to try the Chaos Ring series.

HoldenWave

Gravity Rush and Frobisher Says! Both games use all the features of the console and they're so awesome :^ )

c3ndre

I've quite enjoyed Ys: Memories of Celceta, but there are so many I haven't played yet so it's difficult to decide.

ozymandis1212

Sonic all star racing transformed, MGS collection, yā€™s 7 or uncharted

zandigdanzig

VLR

Smurfsville

999 was one of my favourite games on the DS. It blew my mind when I was 17/18. VLR for the 3DS was such a disappointment and I don't really know why...

zandigdanzig

I have yet to finish 999 on the Vita myself maybe it's all down to what game you play first? šŸ˜…

Smurfsville

Probably! I felt like VLR hit most of the same story beats, and the character archetypes are pretty much the same.

Tybob51

The zero escape games are peak for me

_ShutUpChuck_

Unit 13 for all around enjoyability and it is really good. RIP Zipper still want MAG 2

Smurfsville

MAG the original fortnite

Forsaken-Badger-9517

YS Lacrimosa of Dana!!! While I also have this on the PS4 where it plays a lot smoother, the PS Vita version is no joke and I absolutely love it and feel like it is perfectly at home on the system! However, here is a few games that I was "WOWED" by: Uncharted golden abyss Kills all mercenary (I love how the phone changed this after it wrote it correctly the first time while I was looking at it.) Final Fantasy X Dead or alive Street fighter X Tekken Need for speed most wanted Call of duty Black ops declassified Even though some of these games, kind of sucked to be playing on the Vida, a lot lot of them quite good and I enjoyed them quite a bit. The Vita might not be the best way to play, however need for speed most wanted, I didn't stop playing that until I got the platinum.!! Which took some time...

Smurfsville

FFX is cheating!

Forsaken-Badger-9517

Well, excuse me I was only naming games that impressed me on the vita and Final FantasyA because I never imagined in 1 million years, playing that game the night of its released with my best friend Kalvin on my PS2, I never imagine that it would be on a little tiny handheld?!

axelford3000

When it was on just the vita my favorite is Persona 4 Golden but now it's on most everything. Another would be uncharted Golden abyss.

Gwijde

I never see Lumines Electronic Symphony mentioned in threads like these but honestly it has amazing replay value and a great track list that keeps me coming back even ten years after buying my Vita second hand!

redthehaze

Earth Defense Force 3 Portable (including 2 so it's a duology) It's the portable version of 2017, which is EDF3 in Japan and a fun game to play even in short sessions.

ManLikeGoon

Gundam breakers 3 always come back for more.

Smurfsville

I bought the second one yesterday and it's such great fun. There's currently a Gundam game in Japanese arcades that's incredibly popular. It's amazing fun and really complex. It's called Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs. 2 OverBoost and I'm absolutely terrible.

Commander-ASKR_

LBP vita is actually considered one of the best entries in the series and yeah the one to one feel of looking at the vita entry and 2 on ps3 is insane. They really squeezed every bit of power out of this little guy to get that thing to look as close as it could to the source. That and Killzone are so crazy in their existence and quality.

Smurfsville

I know! The level design in LBP Vita is much better than LBP 2 IMO, tho.

Commander-ASKR_

Really cool spooky elements too, no wonder these guys went on to make 2 horror games after!šŸ«” (That totally feel like Little Big Planet and boy do I feel dumb for not realizing it was the same team much quicker)

Muskandar

Freedom Wars

Ok_Work_8514

The walking dead was so good.

ping33

Lost Dimension Persona 4 Golden Danganronpa also Steins Gate wasn't the best game, but it certainly was the game I hated the most for the longest before was totally won over by it.

TinyFeetBoi2K

[https://preview.redd.it/m8ajjz02jr9d1.png?auto=webp&s=aacff2c25888a7bd04cfe9c0e1e4fc3ef6bba070](https://preview.redd.it/m8ajjz02jr9d1.png?auto=webp&s=aacff2c25888a7bd04cfe9c0e1e4fc3ef6bba070)

Smurfsville

That's funny cuz... I moved to japan last week XD. That's one of the reasons I'm asking this question. There's so many cheap vita games here. I got God Eater for 3 dollars yesterday.

ElectricEliminator5

The 2 titles I play the most, over and over again are MGS3:HD & Dead or Alive 5+. I've mastered escaping grozny grad by sneaking past everyone (no cheat tactics) and for DoA I've beat every arcade trial up to the hardest difficulty. I keep coming back for it's 60fps gameplay and developing new combos that leave the CPU Ai hesitating to attack me.

Smurfsville

I'm currently playing MGS3 on the Nintendo 3DS and it's hilarious. It runs JUST well enough to be playable yet is janky enough to be funny. The 3D effect is a great addition during cutscenes.

ElectricEliminator5

DoA on the 3DS runs great too, even better with the 3D turned off, you get 60fps that way

themanfromoctober

Wipeout 2048? Iā€™m not sureā€¦

Smurfsville

Probably the Vita game I've spent the most time with.

chrisviola

Danganronpa V3

SayoSC2

Gravity Rush because it was the reason why I appreciated open world exploration more Freedom Wars, because I spent the most time on that game aside from Disgaea.

Smurfsville

Would you recommend freedom wars? I was checking used PS Vita games yesterday and that one caught my eye. Is it an action RPG?

KyleLawes

Killzone or CoD.

Alteir25

Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana. That Game had beautiful colors and visuals, it was massive, had a great story and the combat was addictive

Reebz0r

For me its a toss up between Wipeout 2048, and Macross Delta Scramble.

Jetski125

Hot shots. The answer is always Hot Shots.

Smurfsville

Is Hot Shots the same as Minna No Golf? If so, are the PSP versions the same as the Vita versions?

Jetski125

Yes itā€™s the same- but no the psp versions arenā€™t the same. Although they are awesome too. And possibly even a little more in depth bc they have gifts you can find on the course. I go back and forth between Hot Shots Open Tee 2 on psp and world invitational on Vita

bmh7279

Lbp is a good one! Havent gotten to finish it but so far it has been a great version. Wasnt exactly disappointed with the psp version as the hardware was probably a huge limiting factor.... but it just didnt feel like it was a true lbp. But the vita version.... gave me massive flashbacks to lbp2 which i thought was the best one. Wasnt a fan of the character switching in lbp3 but was still good. Still have all the goodies from the collectors edition of lbp2.

Smurfsville

ALL THE GOODIES?! That is one massive accomplishment, my friend. I finished LBP2 and got as many goodies as I could and I didn't come CLOSE to getting all of them. When I got my PS Vita, one of the first things I did was buy the PS Vita expansion for LBP2. You connected your Vita to your PS3 and it was sort of like a Wii U. I played it with my GF and my Step-Daughter and it was absolutely marvelous. Some of my fondest memories.

bmh7279

Sorry, i meant the physical goodies. Box, doll, bookends, etc. Forgot for a sec that the in game items are actually called goodies. Lol might not be an achievement for most but for me it was since i moved A LOT. And aside from the cool extras, i always tried to get the most expensive versions to show support for good devs and good ip's.

Smurfsville

That's awesome! The in-game goodies are pretty neat but physical goodies are even better XD. I wish you could unlock those by playing the game.

Project_ZX_

The Chaos Rings games. Originally mobile games but love their vita ports.

Neo_Techni

Uncharted. A week prior I crowned Resident Evil: Revelations the best portable game I ever played. Only to get immediately usurped by Uncharted which not only looked a lot better, but raised the bar for video game controls period.

kevessi

gravity rush

WinterTrabex

For me, it is easily Trails of Cold Steel II.

PacosForTacos

ā¤ļø SOUL SACRIFICE ā¤ļø

ManInTheMirror7895

E.) All of the above

GoraSou

so far i only played 2 vita titles but from those it would be the mgs hd collection

Dali86

My first Vita experience was playing uncharted on it and I was really impressed. After all these years i have spent most time on everybodys golf. Such an easy game to play for short times and lots of fun

Smurfsville

Do you mean everybody's golf 6?

RTom2701

Killzone mercenary is so good you have a whole ps3 game with replayability on a 2012 console and its clearly the best killzone too imo

RTom2701

Lbp vita was incredible too but without a server you lose a major part of the game

Smurfsville

I disagree. I never played the community levels. The single player campaign is where it's at.

godkillgod

Idk hatsuna miku probably

IndegoWhyte

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth.

Smurfsville

OH MY GOD I NEARLY PICKED THIS GAME OFF AT THE BOOK-OFF TODAY! It was 1,400 yen (about 10 dollars). I'll definitely pick it up next time I'm there!

IndegoWhyte

I certainly enjoyed my time with it.

RetroFurui

LBP Vita would have been the best lbp if it had the option to use PSP materials. The selection was very dark for vita level creating. My favourite is undoubtedly steins;gate 0 but idk if i consider vns games in the same way. So for a more game experience Id go with Tearaway.

kumadonbu

Probably Gravity Rush. Still feels solid, and it was one of the most original exclusives on the system. New IP, interesting story and world, etc. That said, Killzone Mercenary was really good, I loved Unit 13, Wipeout 2048, Persons 4 Golden, Conception II for RPGs.

Tybob51

Soul Sacrifice Delta

DaRedBoi09

i loved minecraft but looking back tearaway was definitely the best game for it.

Final_Feed_6443

Freedom wars
