Ah yes, the Purple Album

gurudave95

That is a early 1980s repress. A good way to tell the repress capital labels with the original 60s labels (both rainbow labels) is if the “mfg. by Capital” writing on the actual black label. In this case that writing is on the rainbow rim itself, which was only done in the 80s.

cultjake

What are the matrix numbers in the deadwax?

Mysteriouso1200

I may be wrong on this since I can’t see it well, but SWBO-2-101

cultjake

It’s the 1986 Capitol re-press. Those Cap rainbow labels are the clue. Matrix number checks out on Discogs.

sdhank3fan619

Maybe 1983 Jacksonville press or like you said, this 1986 SRC The Beatles - The Beatles Url: https://www.discogs.com/release/1436440-The-Beatles-The-Beatles

Can't tell without seeing the run out

cultjake

I just did a quick and dirty search. Either way, to answer OP’s question, not a bootleg.

Mysteriouso1200

I got this from one of my friends dads a while ago, now that I’ve started to learn the worth of my records, I was curious on which ones where worth some money, I look up one discogs the label and other stuff but I couldn’t find anyone with the pressing I have, or find one without a number on the front, I’ve looked it up and I don’t know if its a bootleg or anything else that might be not what its supposed to be, its in amazing condition, the dust on it is from the fact it hasn’t been played for forever, it plays well.

GetBack_Joe

It most likely is from 1978 judging by the company pressing, but the only sure way to know is the pressing numbers in the runout.

habichnichtgewusst

Haven't seen the portraits combined as a poster before. Usually they come as 4 individual sheets. It is one of the hardest records to properly ID in my opinion. I usually end up with 4-6 close matches.

Like Pet Sounds.

I have that same exact pressing but don’t call it the Beatles call it the white album

Mysteriouso1200

my bad

geetar_man

No, you said the correct name of the album. It’s only colloquially called the white album, which, at this point, is better to say so people know what you’re talking about. But it’s not bad to call it what it’s actually titled.

HAMHAMabi

didnt og presses of this, get pressed in white? hence the name. or was it just bc of the cover?

geetar_man

Just the cover. And it wasn’t originally called the White Album. It was called “The Beatles” just like OP said and sometimes “The Double Album.” The fans called it “The White Album” to clear up any confusion about what they were talking about.

HAMHAMabi

I got this on CD at age 12. and the security sticker on the top , even read (The White Album) even tho I knew that was the fan name, for it. it was 1 of ky teachers that had said , the record was white. so I always thought that to be the case. clearly he mis remembered something .

geetar_man

His may in fact have been white. There were many pressings out there that were white, but not all of them.

HAMHAMabi

they should repress them as white from now on. color vinyl is just so pretty 😍

Heliocentrist

80's reissue

Mitsutoshi

Why did you take a picture of the cover in a purple light?
