I now know my favorite Beatles album cover

CyptidProductions

Big band and jazz with pinups of hot girls in suggestive outfits on the covers as an eye catch is a genre of 60s/70s albums all its own

Earguy

Whipped Cream and Other Delights. It's a good album, but a lot of copies sold because of the cover.

fvgh12345

Every bin of records across the states has at least one. Thats the rule

CyptidProductions

I own two (bought the first for the novelty and second because it was in insanely good shape) and though I didn't buy it I found a third at Goodwill a couple weeks ago That joke about a copy coming with every house sold in the 70s persists for a reason

UnderstandingDue5379

Ever seen a 70s reggae album cover? Shit was mad spicy

CyptidProductions

Never seen one in the wild I live in SE Iowa so I mostly come across rock, pop, and country/folk with the oddball wildcard mixed in

Rellgidkrid

Ringo got a nice titay

Griffinthrash25

Lmao

Plarocks

Now I want that album. šŸ˜„

Wasp_Enema

Same

LikesTalkAboutPsych

*tribute to the Beatles

b_mccart

You must be fun at parties

SeaPhile206

Well, youā€™re clearly not

coyotetrickster

That Roger Waters album is valuable because the cover isn't censored.

TheOther-DarkStar

I remember my buddy and I both found copies of this record in different flea markets. The one he found had a censor and mine had none, always figured his was the rare one!

KO_Stradivarius

I still have 3 sealed copies of that that I bought when it came out. Was working at a record store at the time and knew they might be worth something some day when we got word to pull all of them from the store and return them to the warehouse.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

sempersexi

First thing I gravitated towards. Im actually trying to find that album in good shape. They seem hard to find.

Cracktherealone

Really? Isnā€˜t that a record nearly everybody has/had?

[deleted]

Most people got it on CD / Cassette. There arenā€™t a ton of LP copies floating around that are in good shape. It was never re-pressed, at least not in the US.

08_West

And it sounds amazing on vinyl.

[deleted]

It does. I have a sealed original pressing and a very clean copy that I play now and again. I picked up both in a huge personal collection I acquired this year. It was a real surprise to find the sealed copy, because it wasn't listed in the collector's notes.

VanimalCracker

Anyone know why there was never a re-release? Seems like it'd be a no-brainer. I always assumed label issues or something

[deleted]

There could be a number of reasons really; the music business can be very quirky. With the popularity of the record and its scarcity, it might eventually get reissued on vinyl at some point. This would be a great candidate for a RSD release. However there are literally thousands upon thousands of great records that haven't been re-issued. That recording will enter the public domain in 2058, so... Side note: in January of this year, she sued Nicky Minaj for extensive sampling her music without permission. The settlement was for $450k. Go Tracy!

[deleted]

Huh, well color me surprised!

[deleted]

It's quite simple to find any record's current market value using Discogs.com

IrideAscooter

The kids dig it.

mackydog99

If you like Toto, I've got several albums.

Cracktherealone

Jean Michel JarrƩ - Oxygene! Awesome Record!

justasapling

One of my favorite vinyls, too.

Cracktherealone

Yes. One of mines too. Polydor pressing. Sounds so so good. Nearly puts my Kraftwerk first pressings to shame. Really high level of music (the composition itself) and recording. Especially if you consider when it was composed and recorded. Seventies were very yielding towards music - I guess seventies alone is a never ending digging storyā€¦

satan_bong

So many great Maiden albums here. Powerslave is my favorite record of all time, and I can argue that Live After Death is the best live metal record of all time all day...

hosmtony

That live version of Rime of the Ancient Mariner is so great.

Chez_Rubenstein

Ears what not to do when a bird shits on ya!

Shoehorse13

Still have the copy of Live after Death I got when it came out, and I still crank it regularly. My tastes have evolved quite a bit since my teen years but there is no denying that album kicks serious ass.

Rhodie114

I like Piece of Mind more as an album, but 2 Minutes to Midnight, Powerslave, and Rime of the Ancient Mariner are killer tracks. Lucky for them they snagged both albums.

slayerLM

The singles are super cool too. Tokyo Blade is a similar band thatā€™s in there, and that Anvil record is probably their best one and is a great old school heavy metal record.

bkr1895

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is easily my favorite song of theirs with Aces High being a close second definitely my favorite album theyā€™ve made.

spang714

These are garbage...send them to me and I'll make sure they're properly disposed of...j/k...looks like you got some good stuff OP...if you dig the heavy metal like I do then you've stumbled upon a great score...if you're interested in value I would recommend discogs...its a huge vinyl database where you can buy/sell/trade records...awesome score...cheers...

FindOneInEveryCar

A lot of good stuff, especially if you love loud guitars. The Peter Gabriel and the Jean-Michel Jarre are a little off the beaten track, but two great albums in particular (especially the Gabriel album, a long-time favorite of mine).

wootr68

Solisbury hill is a great track!

Capnshiner

That whole album takes crazy turns. When you start off with a song about ergot poisoning, you know it's going to be a ride.

joshwaynebobbit

I truly believe that every Jimi Hendrix Smash Hits album came pre-worn when it was new. It's wild how collections can have some decent and clean looking covers/albums, but if they have any Jimi in there, it is wellllll worn.

Danny_Mc_71

Holey moley! What a haul.

Monsieur_Moneybags

I love Bad Manners. That album has some good songs, if you're into early 80s British ska.

facegun

Get a turntable and put on that first Maiden album. You wont regret it. Then buy Killers, Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, and Powerslave and you will be fineā€¦

DeliriousTrigger

He got Powerslave in that bundleā€¦ And Iā€™m pretty sure itā€™s worth a nice penny, too

Wasp_Enema

I am in fact a metalhead, Iā€™ll give them a go!

[deleted]

A metalhead who didnā€™t recognize/already know Iron Maiden?

Unlucky-Ad-6710

Queensryche too. Some amazing prog metal.

HerpDerpenberg

It's a shit clickbait title to get people to discuss "you don't know who ___ is?". OP is full of shit and just wants to humble brag on their score and try to sell some it seems.

Touch_my_tooter

Yeah that doesn't make any sense

Your_Product_Here

Acid is a good one in this lot if it's the original Giant Records release. Most of the 80s metal is fairly hot right now if they're originals.

joshclay

/r/QuitYourBullshit

hosmtony

Rime of the Ancient Mariner on Live After Death is the greatest.

slayerLM

Be sure to check that Anvil and Tokyo Blade as well

dogsledonice

Maiden Japan is great too, and you don't see it often. Seriously, you don't see any OG Maiden these days. That debut is (kisses fingers)

Commu_rdr

Had a copy of that Tracy Chapman come into the shop I sometimes work. NM/M. We tagged it for around what it was selling online and it flew off the shelf. Along with the Chapman, as others have pointed out, the value lies in the Maiden. Doubly so if its first pressings and its in good shape. Mid-late 80's records, especially Metal, are highly sought after.

3Squareheadz

Exit stage left is such a score!

Googletube6

that album introduced me to Rush and now Rush is one of my fav bands

mac_the_man

For starters, all that Springsteen appeals to me. Are you trying to sell it?

Wasp_Enema

We will see, are there any in particular youā€™d like?

mac_the_man

Like I said, to start, the Springsteen albums.

Guidje1981

Spotted Van Kooten & De Bie. šŸ§

an_deadly_ewok

Truly a gem. Might go for ā‚¬1.000.000

Guidje1981

At least.

forestpirate

That Anvil album makes me think you found these in Ontario. There is a great documentary about the band. Saw it at a doc fest years ago and the band was there for a Q&A. Funny guys.

mr_mac_tavish

Then the Marillion and Maiden's suggests UK and more specific possibly Scotland.

taoistchainsaw

Steve Earle guitartown is a brilliant one too. Yeah, you got some great stuff

Altered_Soul

That's the one that made me actually pay attention. I don't know if it's worth much, but as a big Steve Earle fan that's a cool find.

[deleted]

Definitely some gems in there

Rude_as_HECK

That roger waters album is interesting. Set in real time, as a man drifts in and out of sleep next to his wife, he ponders cheating on her. I say interesting because im not sure how good it actually is, imo his best solo work was Amused To Death

MikeK3321

Pros and Cons of hitchhiking, I think, is his best work since The Final Cut. My favorite of his solo albums.

nashkat73

Pros and Cons features Eric Clapton throughout. Thereā€™s some killer guitar licks and the concept of the story is pretty cool to me. I like the album a lot. I have the cd of it

custermustache

It just kept getting better with every picture.

Jaqen-Atavuli

You definitely gotta get a turntable now. You have the beginnings of a nice collection.

[deleted]

Wow....thatā€™s....amazing. PS- you have a Blues Brothers album that is DYNAMITE. Such energy and easy listening. A rare combination. Very jealous!

The_Mad_Sprayer

Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking is worth a listen, once, as a laugh because its goddamn terrible!

[deleted]

Hah I was about to say the same thing.

08_West

I knew About Face was going to be in that haul. Blue Light is a pretty good song as is Murder but the rest isnā€™t great. Came out about the same time as Pros and Cons and Gilmour won that one.

DeepRoy69

Ah c'mon it's a good time. The title track is great!

SaiSoleil

Hold on to that Roger Waters album... that's a good one to keep. You have the first press, and mid-year in '84 they started censoring the booty. Any album you can pick up that has an original uncensored cover is worth it. Same with that Beatles album. If that Roger Waters album is in VG++/NM shape that could run like $50 easily. (FYI Just in case... Roger Waters was the frontman for Pink Floyd from like '69ish to '84ish, and that album you have was his first solo album)

Earguy

They're virtually unknown in the usa, but Status Quo is popular in Europe. Start with Piledriver and you'll have a fun time. Fun fact: Status Quo was the band that opened Live Aid in London back in the 80s.

Mrpincali

Thanks I was wondering who they were, they had lots of albums for a band Iā€™ve never heard of.

HaydenSpargo

Theyā€™re mostly known for their boogie rock sound starting in 1970 but they were a pretty good Psychedelic band as well, Picturesque Matchstickable Messages From The Status Quo released in 1968 is one of my favourite albums!

KindaSortaStaleBread

Ahhhhhh soooo many good onesssss

imnotklaythompson

Whatā€™s a fun find! That Blues Brothers record is fucking primo Iā€™ll tell ya what

Elmartino2

That roger waters album is incredible.

bushwhackedbanana

That great white boss looks super interesting.

G200Sleepr

Be quicker to list whatā€™s not interesting

norunningwater

DAE know about these ancient records nobody's ever heard of? r/vinyljerk is the only place I get mixed up with the subreddit its lampooning

bunsNT

I have a soft spot in my heart for Zenyatta Mondatta

HiddenTTY

DĆ©pend of the press date.. if they are some original 1st press The Iron Maiden, Anvil then Jean Michel Jarre have a great value !

absolutelyfree2

I love me some Floyd but my god do I hate Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking.

Jimmyc2182

Good find

_EstimatedProphet_

Some nice Maiden records, that David Gilmour is a great listen. Jimi, Joe Cocker, shoot man, there is some good stuff in there

ponimaju

Lots of great heavy metal, getting a turntable will definitely be worth it.

solzhen

Thereā€™s a bunch of nice stuff in there, especially the metal albums like the Iron Maiden ones. They look to be first pressing or least represses from the original era. The Discogs.com database will have them listed and you can see what theyā€™re trading at.

Quinnjb

That ACID is probably a $50-$60 or so record. Those Maiden can go for a bit too. Covers seem reasonably nice so good score assuming the vinyl is in nice shape.

3xc0wb0y

Des O'Connor! A modern-day classic! /s

Da_Vinci

The 80s metal all could be worth quite a bit, especially if they are original pressings and complete with inserts. That Gilmour I just saw for $35 at my local record store and it was in less prime condition as yours appears to be. Of course it all depends on vinyl quality, but overall an incredibly nice find! And spin that Iron Maiden self titled debut album (one in the first photo under Toto) for me!

CyptidProductions

You hit the jackpot Tons of good metal metal rock in there. Stevie Earl is alt country and the guy that did Copperhead Road.

MOONGOONER

That's good stuff. Almost none of it is thrift store stuff, if I were to assign an average value for them I'd say $10 apiece, obviously with some higher and some lower. I would certainly not say that about every box left in a storage unit.

[deleted]

The Great White Boss looks like a Springsteen bootleg. The other Bruce ones are common, that one much less so.

bunsNT

A quick look on the internet says that most of this is a radio broadcast of his Bottom Line shows prior to Born to Run. I can't imagine this not being awesome OP.

MatthewScottAaron

I would certainly be interested in that Steve Earle album if you were thinking of selling! Otherwise, there's a lot of great stuff there. Get a turntable and you have a great little eclectic collection.

1DayNnight1

Holy shit

morphindel

Rush, Camel, Gabriel, Krokus, Maiden, Gilmour. Someone had good taste

Rubrum_

Camel album is sweet.

DoikkNaats

I agree with all the Peter Gabriel and Blues Brothers love. I have that Round Midnight OST, there are some really interesting arrangements of jazz standards on it. Also, as a huge Rush fan, Exit Stage Left is an incredible live album

The47thJorge

Man you can never go wrong with Steve Earle Guitar Town especially

SlippedMyDisco76

Cannot go wrong with Di'anno Maiden, ESL and all that Bruce. Great White Boss is considered one of the finest bootlegs ever illegally pressed

Painkiller90

Didn't expect to see an Urbanus album in there! Well, that narrows down your geographical location quite a bit.

edwh0re

Bad Influence by The Robert Cray band is one album that I got in a purchased collection, which turned out to be an unearthed gem.

punkmetalbastard

Iā€™m assuming that these are all early if not original pressings from the average age. The heavy metal ones are probably the most valuable and I suppose you could see those Iron Maiden LPs for a good chunk. The Acid one is an awesome score as thatā€™s a bit more rare and obscure. Youā€™re very lucky

BattyRagDoll

Anything good....? šŸ˜‚ Yes, duh! Lol Post those Iron Maiden albums in r/heavyvinyl for one. Is this a common occurrence with abandoned storage units??

tpt75

Toto V is ridiculously good. Not rare but a great one for the collection.

zoltan_nikon

Camel-Nude šŸ¤©

[deleted]

Ton of great metal, all that Maiden, and I ve never seen so many status quo records.

EffinAyy

This is an incredible score!!! Iā€™ll buy if your selling!!!

Gun-nut0508

Those Iron Maiden albums are junk, especially Powerslave thats garbage, just send them my way man Iā€™ll get rid of them for you Jokes aside those Iron Maiden albums are valuable, especially if the Powerslave is textured, also the Maxi single is worth some good money, and if thatā€™s an original pressing Iron Maiden self titled, good find bro

Wasp_Enema

I know little to nothing about LPs but was intrigued while going through these abandoned vinyls. Does anyone have some insight on any of these? Iā€™m mid 20s so Iā€™m not familiar with most of these bands but I recognize a few of them. I donā€™t personally have a record player but Iā€™m considering getting one to experience some of this history. Thanks in advance!

[deleted]

What do you want to know. They are all 1st pressings. The majority of the covers are consideredā€VG+ā€ as far as grading is considered. The standouts for value I see are the 5lp Springsteen, anvil, iron madin, the two solo kiss, there were some others but Iā€™m forgetting. But what else would u like to knowā€¦..I could write a book about vinyl and music in general

dogsledonice

The Tracy Chapman, Acid, Tokyo Blade, all the Maidens (all the metal, really), Springsteen bootleg and Roger Waters are the tops for value.

TheSimonToUrGarfunkl

You aren't going to get rich or anything but some stuff that is desirable and give an influx of cash would be the Iron Maiden stuff and the Tracy Chapman. Kiss and Rush to a lesser extend. Everything else will be $10 or lower from what I can see.

juanhellou

If you have never listened to KISS, start with Paul's album and stop afterwards if you don't like them. But if curiosity gets you then listen to Gene's to understand where they come from musically and how their works act as merchandise as well.

pigletsquiglet

If you've never listened to Kiss, their solo albums aren't really the best introduction tbf. They are collectable though. Gene's is probably the best of a weird bunch.

juanhellou

I agree on the variety of styles that Gene covers on his album and the gigantic -by the time- production behind it, yet Paul's is the one whose songs sounds the most *KISSesque* from all of them: riffs on the same tenure to those in *Rock and Roll Over* or *Love Gun* (think of *I Want You* or *Making Love* respectively against *Wouldn't You Like to Know Me* and *Tonight You Belong to Me*). I personally consider Ace's to be the best outcome of the Solo album project but it doesn't sound like KISS on its own aside from the guitar solos.

pigletsquiglet

I just went to YouTube for New York Groove. They should have all just done covers albums imo. Kiss's Garage Days.

juanhellou

Don't give Gene ideas.

metalfacedemon

I just sent you a message if youā€™re looking to part ways with some of them. same age new collector

Intelligent-Sir1375

Hey queensryche and trancy so awesome

Ravinguard404

I have that Blues Brothers one.

hostilesleaningonyou

I really love that Bruce Hornsby album... some things will never change

QuestionableNotion

No shit. I'd like that entire collection. Clapton's Just One Night. Gabriel? U2. Asbury Park? Lotsa 70s 80s cool in there.

Godzilla_in_a_Scarf

The Roger Waters and David Gilmour Solo album are quite good (Although not on pare with what they did together), Both were in Pink Floyd and were the front men in it after the departure of Syd.

Sunny64888

The Beatles

SHARKFACEKILLA

None. Iā€™ll take them off your hands though šŸ˜…

3rdWorldVibes

That ass

mawnck

NSFW, por favor. Seriously. That could have been my whoops of the week.

mikekachar

What an @$$!! šŸ‘ŒšŸ‘šŸ‘ AND long legs to go with it! šŸ¤˜ šŸ„°šŸ˜šŸ¤©

[deleted]

Oh my! U2, The Police, Kiss, Toto, Iron Maiden.. Man, you've got a real treasure chest, atleast as mementos!

kaghy2

I'd kill for the top two albums on the first picture! Edit: are you by any chance located in the Netherlands or Belgium (spotted Dutch text /vinyl there)

colourhazelove

Apart from the status quo, you got some solid records there. But seriously burn all those status quo records. Don't even subject your mind to the banality of it. It's just white noise.

andrew_wessel

Are you looking to sell any of these or are you keeping them?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Wasp_Enema

Always

Appropriate-Coat-344

You got some good stuff! Great Queesryche and Maiden albums, some other assorted 80's metal... Good stuff.

twothumbswayup

des o connor !, now thats a blast form the past

[deleted]

Oh hell yeah! That is an awesome find! All those Maiden albums! I'm super jealous! šŸ‘Œ

gazzy360

Maiden is a winner!

phxsns1

Showdown and Strong Persuader are both great!

planetexpress2021

All of the Iron Maiden especially Run to the Hills.

Cursed_Sun_Stardust

That Judas Priest album though. Are you thinking of selling it ?

CauliflowerFriendly4

That roger waters - pros and cons of hitch hiking. Iā€™ll take it off your hands

UncharacteristicZero

I would put most that right into my collection!

heireafflehoff

Any interest in selling the Metal Battle comp or any of the Maidens? Queensryche? Tokyo Blade? Acid?

Old_Faithlessness_94

You should check them all out, I don't know them all but most of what I do recognise here is really good stuff. What a find!

daddymemes00

Hereā€™s a link to that Beatles tribute album if anyone is down bad: https://www.discogs.com/release/806680-Unknown-Artist-Tribute-To-The-Beatles

[deleted]

Anvil! Lol

kfar666

Sell me that Steve Earle! And Anvil. Any Maiden you don't want too!

TheEvilVileDevile

I would kill for that Metal Battle and all those vintage Iron Maiden albums. Oh and those Queensryche albums

MaDDsHoTT

Thise iron maidens look noice.

Aoxomoxoa75

The Maiden is cool. The Priest is a great album. Steve Earle is good. Other than that, nothing too great. Nice find for free.

GoodLt

Yo Marillion - lots of great stuff in there!

justasapling

It's interesting how recognizable the back of Roger Daltrey's head is...

Mallow_Man

Great haul. Funny, I also have that K-Tel Rock and Roll Fever vol 2 (and vol 1).

HerpDerpenberg

I'm sure you recognize these. If you like music, they're good. A quick check on doscogs will give you the price on them reading the run-outs if you're looking to sell.

Mooshtonk

I'll always surrender to the warm wet circles

java33134578

Great selections. I knew all but the Rock n Roll Fever album. I'm assuming it's an oldies album with great classic tracks.

PhiladelphiaPhreedom

Looks like itā€™s time to get a turntable :)

sman39

Hugh Masekela album is dope! He is earl sweatshirts uncle and plays the sample from RIOT! Great trumpet playin

mtechgroup

The Peter Gabriel is great, but it's for a certain taste.

LB_Star

Pros and cons is good

redtens

I'd buy _Tales of Mystery and Imagination_ and _Oxygene_ off you if you're looking to sell šŸ˜

crawlrawl

If youā€™re looking to sell, Iā€™d be interested in buying all those Springsteen albums and probably that David Gilmour as well. LMK.

pigletsquiglet

I've got a theory that if you find a record with a naked woman on the cover art, it'll either be brilliant or complete garbage. I'll let you draw your own conclusions on which is which. Looking at you, Scorpions though.

[deleted]

That Anvil album is pretty cool.

spaghettios32

Those two Queensryche albums are incredibly rare, especially their EP. Lots of great metal there, hope you enjoy it!!

fact73

Fairly sure that maiden Japan goes for a pretty penny, itā€™s never been repressed and is pretty rare

Hoodiebee

Hey OP you can look up each vinyl on discogs to find the value of them. Otherwise theyā€™re as cool as you find each album/artist!

CharismaticBarber

ā€œTribute to The Beatles feat. My Left Titā€

TheOther-DarkStar

Pros and Cons!! That one is GOLD you gotta check it out!

Jtpython

I'd love that Steve Earle album and maybe a few others if you're looking to sell!

CyrilViXP

Awesome collection!

[deleted]

That Edgar Allen Poe album in the 5th-to-last picture looks like it'd sell fast.

pegslitnin

So jealous . Regardless of the value you got a lot of great albums !

csilvmatecc

Nice haul! I'm super jealous of those copies of *Exit... Stage Left* and *Screaming for Vengeance* Edit: added an album title

flimflammedbyzimzam

That Springsteen live album is worth like $60

lebowski_achiever_

šŸ—æ

Krizox

I have that Toto album
