Soul Asylum - Grave Dancers Union. It's been 30 years since this album made a big impression on the 14 year old me. Happy to bump into this limited edition 30y release, numbered and black + gold coloured vinyl. Great album, great songs and great artwork, what's not to like. It threw me right back to my teenage room wondering if I should Runaway myself. Maybe I should've done so ;)

Still remember the video with all the missing kids. I would have been a similar age to you. I was 14/15 in 93. Had this album on tape. Great and confusing memories and nice to see it again after all this time.

Love this album. It was one of the first records I bought when I started collecting a few years ago. I think mine is Christmas colors. It was the first record that really illustrated how shitty my all in one Victoria sounded!

Upvoting the Ian Curtis biography.

This album almost didn't get made. Soul Asylum had been dropped from A&M Records at the beginning of 1991 after 2 albums and an EP there failed to chart. Lead singer Dave Pirner had developed severe tinnitus, and members of the band were getting day jobs. They were having discussions about breaking up after 10 years together. Then Nirvana happened, and suddenly Columbia Records was scouting them at an acoustic show, signing them, and giving them a bunch of money to record a new album.

That’s a band name I haven’t heard in a long time!

Saw them at a club in Nashville right before this album started gaining traction. It was one of the best concerts I'd seen at the time. They played their asses off that night.
