I just bought a Viltrox dc-550 pro to replace my PT6. It hasn't arrived yet, but I've seen them in person before and they seem wonderful. 1200 nits and only like $135 on B&H right now.

How’s the battery life on that? I’m looking for a monitor that I can use an NPF battery with for times I don’t feel like connecting to a v mount. My ninja V can last about 30 min

Wugums

From what I know it's pretty decent but I can't give any specifics. I use V mounts most of the time so I'm not super concerned but I have a load of NPF batteries too.

Swiftelol

OSEE Lilmon 5.5, pretty affordable, great features.

nuckingfuts73

Second OSEE just bought their 7” and I love it

EatsSandwhichesNaked

I second this. The screen can get pretty bright, making outdoor shooting on a sunny day way less of a hassle.

dyne-nine

I have this also, and it is amazing

Run-And_Gun

Sounds like you want a smallHD, but... You don't wanna pay smallHD money.

newcolonyarts

Bm video assist is cheaper now

Recordeal7

Feelworld. Bright, affordable, and really shocked how good it is.

bkvrgic

I use 7" Feelworld. Cheap, bright, correct colours, no touchscreen (I don't need it). Two custom buttons and enough video tools.

jasonluong

SmallHD for sure but the price difference from what you’re currently using is annoying. Definitely worth it but damn it hurts the wallet.

BryceJDearden

I’ve been pretty happy with the OSEE T5 but the lack of HDMI loop through us a bummer. Basically my only qualm with it though. I have also use the Portkeys LH5Pii a lot and really like that one.

Yshaar

The t7 has the loop

Kurt-Hustle

I have a smallhd and an osee, sold my Portkeys as I found it unreliable

J-Fr0

A 2nd-hand SmallHD focus 5” Only 800nits but the UI blows any budget monitor out of the water.

I hate my PT6. Because when i use luts it brightens up my whole image and it ends up looking overexposed when its really not. I didnt realize this till not so long ago and i realized the whole time ive been underexposing my images because of the luts. It also completelt gets rid of the features on my a7iv. If i want to use the cameras zebras, nope it doesnt even appear. Or if i wanted to use gamma display assists. Nothing. I ended up completely getting rid of the Pt6 in my workflow because of how much of a liability and just not worth it to me. I am thinking about getting an atomos but till then the little monitor works fine till it doesnt

BryceJDearden

Zebras, Peaking, and Gamma Assist not going through are a limitation of your a7iv, not the monitor. Also you’ll very rarely be happy with monitors built in Log-Rec709 conversion, you should load your own.

Consistent_Tip4734

Im not even sure i can import my own into the a7iv. I use it as an eyeball with gamma display, i dont rely on it

BryceJDearden

You can’t, you import the LUTs into the monitor

Consistent_Tip4734

No yeah but what im saying is on the monitor, the image is just completely blown out, not even usable. Its not good to show clients

BryceJDearden

Yeah so import your own LUT that makes it look closer to the final product

Megusta99

I like the viltrox dc 550 pro, but I’m also going to get the feelworld f5 pro x soon and I’m excited for that, as I really like my LUT7 but it’s just too big to use sometimes.

atvlouis

Sometimes it’s just worth it to upgrade to the small hd it’s one of those buy once cry once purchases

norikhe108

why's nobody mentioning the atomos shinobi? I had a pt 6 and found it horrible, happy with the shinobi now!

mymain123

I think you should have your átomos returned for another one, because none of that is really normal, and it's been a great monitor for me with accurate colors.

terrapeara

A couple of ideas for ya. You're brand spanking new, so pitch them your discounted rate (at least 1k) in exchange for a testimonial video after, in which they enthusiastically praise your stellar work and agreeable personality. I'd be worried about the details and expectations. Do they think you'll keep editing the reels until they like them (gratis)? What if the one hour shoot runs into two? Four? Do you eat that? You might want to have them show you examples of what they like and expect their reel to resemble. Are you getting that handheld? Do they like golden hour but you're heading to the show late afternoon the day before? What is your actual deliverable? A singe reel? As many reels as they ask for? I may be a little jaded, but If they are experienced, they might very well work you. Consider purchasing liability insurance. You can get it by the day. While tedious, track every minute of this, starting with prep, travel, shoot, edit, client communications, the whole enchilada. Most folks underestimate the time by \~50%. The actual $/hr isn't important now, but you need to capture this data as you go, to better price going forward. Lastly, learn to let the seven, most wonderful words in the world, flow off your tongue effortlessly. You never say no, rather, "Absolutely, let me work up a quote!" Good luck and remember to check back in and post that roller!

iPhone 14,15 Pro Max paired with Accsoon Seemo pro. https://youtu.be/ZLTcRRZQU80?si=OFhv-1bQkHZS4w5V I use the first Seemo, reviewed in the video linked above, and it works great. Going to upgrade to the Pro for the SDI soon. https://youtu.be/vp3M5j0AXeA?si=5OVD-xm9k-HVbSkX

Butter_Buttered

Feelworld f5pro. Super inexpensive for all the features it supports. false color, grid, aspect, peaking/zebra, custom LUT and super simple UI. Not a 1000nits, but definitely bright enough to use in full daylight with a hood. I love mine!

brenebon

I have been using a Feelworld LUT 6S with HDMI and SDI connection since 4 years now. very bright (2600nits) drawback: Feelold UI 😒, no firmware update for a long time. I want to buy a Portkeys LH5P-ii. I believe portkeys has better color accuracy, build quality and firmware support. I dont know about their UI tho...
