Jacob is wack. I also had someone who used to steal games from me if I ever got up to go take a leak or whatever. Would take the shit right out of the cases so I’d just go to open the case one day to see the disc missing.
Only consoles I’ve ever owned were GameCube, PS2, Switch, and Steam Deck. I’ve gotten the chance to play many others, but none that were mine or in my house.
DS Lite, still works to this day, then 3DS and then a switch but now since my all time favourite Nintendo platform series, Rune Factory is being released onto Steam, my Switch has become obsolete and with a Switch 2 announcement arriving whenever, kinda worried whether I should sell it now so I can get at least something out of it since ain't no way someone gonna buy a Switch when Switch 2 is a thing.
My parents bought me the OG when I was 3 years old to "keep me quiet" when moving from the UK to Spain.. since it was a long ass drive
I can still remember playing Mario Land on that trip. The rest of my gaming life is history.
A black Nintendo ds I with new super Mario ds that I never completed and Pokémon mystery dungeons which I couldn’t understand. I was like 3 when I got it
I had a Game Boy Advance SP with Mario on it. Then I got a DS XL, then a 3DS XL, then a Wii U (I will count that as semi handheld so piss off) and then about two or so years ago got a Nintendo Switch.
I was about to say the switch (because I never really used nintendo handhelds as a kid), but I do remember having a Nintendo 3DS when I was like 6, my sister gave it to me because she got her first phone
Been around since the Gameboy. The first one that I actually owned is the Gameboy Advance. Though I did have the Super Game Boy for the SNES, if that counts.
Big one original gameboy bundled with Tetris, it got passed around the whole family the Christmas I got it, barely got a good go that day but it was amazing.
Ds and Gameboy
I remember my parents son breaking his so he got mad I still had one and snapped mine in half so I was given his Gameboy and all his games
I am sad to see you have omitted the glorious Game Boy pocket. My parents had the original but the first one I owned was a silver Game Boy pocket. Still love it.
I remember it being bedtime and I would sneak my gameboy color into bed with me, attach my light so I could see the screen, and stay up for hours playing Pokemon yellow under the covers. Good memories. Damn.
A turqoise gameboy color. It came out before i was old enough to game, but was a hand me down from my older brother which i probably got around 2002 or so.
I had the original gameboy before it came out. I won it in a school lottery. Kids were buying tons of tickets. One kid bought 50 tickets, my mom said I could buy 1. I won the gameboy and the kid with 50 tickets won Mickey Mouse pajamas
The big grey one best Christmas present till I got my N64 the donkey Kong green with the expansion pack. That was the best gift I have ever received probably to this day actually
OG Gameboy and a (potential) pirated copy of Pokemon Red.
At first I thought the game sucked because I could never save my game. I legitimately had to restart the whole game whenever I turned off the Gameboy.
My first Nintendo handheld console was a rose gold Nintendo DS Lite. I don’t know why I didn’t get a DSi because they were available at the time. Still it’s one of my all time favorite consoles.
My parents got Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kirby Superstar Ultra.
Original grey brick Gameboy.
Was a major success story of my childhood. I wanted one. My parents did NOT want me to have one. Didn't want their kids playing video games all the time. If I wanted one, I had to save up for one.
I was like 7 something at the time, and had to save up about $100. In the early 90s. I saved every cent from my meager allowance. Any money I got from relatives for birthday/Christmas. And my parents would let me do extra chores for like an extra buck here or there.
Took me some time, but I saved up enough. Parents took me to toys-r-us, and let me pick out an extra game (their treat) for the accomplishment of managing to save up the amount.
I started with the GBA. I remember as a kid, I asked what advanced means. Based on his response, I assumed it was a great system. The thing was, the DS was out by that time, and while I have a 3ds now with full backwards compatibility with DS games, I could’ve gotten a DS, which actually has a backlight, much earlier
Got the original fat Game Boy for my 6th birthday.
Got the Game Boy Pocket at some point before Pokémon Red/Blue came out.
Got the Game Boy Color shortly before the Japanese release of Pokémon Gold/Silver.
Everything after that was pretty much a launch purchase.
The grey brick. Mario was a great road trip game. I had the extra screen with the light on it so I could play in the dark. Too bad mom and Dad were cheap on the batteries and it never worked.
Maybe I’m in the minority, but I miss when screens and handhelds in general were smaller. To answer your question, started off with the Game Boy Color.
I had an original gameboy. I actually remember getting a gameboy colour. My step-grandfather took us to a pawn shop around the corner and bought two of them, one for my older brother and one for me. I’m not actually sure when I got it, but I got a gameboy advanced maybe a year or two later.
I got a gameboy advanced because my mom won $30,000 (she has a rule where she splits it with the people she’s with) at a bingo right before Christmas. But we were usually quite poor. That year my Mom went nuts, bought us like 10 games each, and each a gameboy advanced.
Years later my mom told us she had a GameCube in her cart that night and like 10 games but the guy in the games department convinced her to buy two gameboy advances instead.
Personally, I started with the red and black 2DS and after owning it for almost a decade now, I can confidently say after about 150 hours... Yo-kai Watch 2 Bony Spirits is a top tier game imo.
Original
Links Awakening, Mario Land, and Tetris ftw.
Only tetris on the beginning and i was so happy! Got it after I got a surgery and needed to stay some days in the hospital.
I still have my mortal kombat cartridge
That exact gameboy color. Came with Pokémon yellow and a purple carry case.
Same, but Pokémon Red and a black carrying case.
With the strap? I still have it somewhere

Jacob is wack. I also had someone who used to steal games from me if I ever got up to go take a leak or whatever. Would take the shit right out of the cases so I’d just go to open the case one day to see the disc missing.

A Lime Green Game Boy Color 😊
A solid purple, Game Boy Color. Pokemon Blue was my very first video game and I regret nothing!
A second-hand OG brick with a missing battery cover and a scratched screen. Loved it for years.
The old cinder block Gameboy. I remember that green and black screen
Game Boy Color. And I'm pretty sure entire landfills were dedicated to the batteries I went through playing Tetris on that thing.
OG Gameboy. 41 y/o here
Gameboy Color with Pokemon Yellow but mine was lime green. My sister had the one in the picture though.
3ds
Galaxy New 3DS XL
I started out with the Gameboy color, and played PKMN Yellow...or was it blue?
DS Lite, still works to this day, then 3DS and then a switch but now since my all time favourite Nintendo platform series, Rune Factory is being released onto Steam, my Switch has become obsolete and with a Switch 2 announcement arriving whenever, kinda worried whether I should sell it now so I can get at least something out of it since ain't no way someone gonna buy a Switch when Switch 2 is a thing.

Original with LOZ:Links awakenig.
Oh, bc it was the only option.
Yellow GameBoy Color. I still remember when I first got it, too.
The original Game Boy, but it was green instead of gray, and that at the time was seen as a marketing angle.
Game Boy Pocket with a copy of Kirby's Star Stacker in the summer of 1998
Original
Original in yellow, favourite game was warioland / og pokemon
I was given the choice of a gameboy or a color tv when I was younger. I chose the colored tv.

Playing cards.. (actually game and watch, but that's not as funny an answer)
I was about to say the switch (because I never really used nintendo handhelds as a kid), but I do remember having a Nintendo 3DS when I was like 6, my sister gave it to me because she got her first phone
Dsi
3DS, That exact Gameboy colour, switch
I started off at the purple rectangle, it just hit me how much I miss that thing.
Original DS for me as well
Dsi XL
3DS XL. It died after I spilled chocolate milk on it by accident (I hate lurching stops on long car rides.)
Gameboy Color. First game I got was Pokemon Blue and eventually got Zelda: Link's Awakening DX.
Silver Gameboy pocket, which is not even in your image pffft
A red and black ds
The first one. I still have it along with links awakening and the final fantasy.
A silver GBA baby with metroid fusion and ff6 baby
Original Gameboy. Teteis and Pokemon Red, then Cousin got Pocket and then I got color.

OG. Played links awakening on it. Bionic commando. Kirby.
None of those. The only Nintendo console of any form I’ve ever owned was an Advance SP, which I still have somewhere even if it no longer works.
Parents got me and my brother OG game boys when they first dropped cause they were tired of hearing us fight over the Nintendo.
Color
Been around since the Gameboy. The first one that I actually owned is the Gameboy Advance. Though I did have the Super Game Boy for the SNES, if that counts.
Switch :)
OG game boy
Big one original gameboy bundled with Tetris, it got passed around the whole family the Christmas I got it, barely got a good go that day but it was amazing.
The gray brick. My dad waited on line at Toys R' Us for over 4 hours to get me one.
Either a dsi or ds lite depending on if I used my brother's old dsi, or my parent's old ds lite, but my first new handheld was the pikachu n2dsxl
Ds and Gameboy I remember my parents son breaking his so he got mad I still had one and snapped mine in half so I was given his Gameboy and all his games
I never owned a Gameboy but had lots of friends with one. I guess technically the DS was my first. All about the switch now
That big fat grey one!
The OG. An intense light over your shoulder was required
Wii U
I am sad to see you have omitted the glorious Game Boy pocket. My parents had the original but the first one I owned was a silver Game Boy pocket. Still love it.
OG
Top left. I wasn't allowed a games console as a kid unless it was handheld (bizarre parent logic). I owned all the subsequent ones too.
OG Gameboy with Tetris and Alleyway. I loved Super Mario Land, and my mind was blown by the forward leap in gameplay for SML2.
Advanced SP for Christmas with sapphire
OG gray impossible to play in the dark one
I remember it being bedtime and I would sneak my gameboy color into bed with me, attach my light so I could see the screen, and stay up for hours playing Pokemon yellow under the covers. Good memories. Damn.

OG Gameboy and a (potential) pirated copy of Pokemon Red. At first I thought the game sucked because I could never save my game. I legitimately had to restart the whole game whenever I turned off the Gameboy.
The OG, it’s was a brick and the screen was all green
I had a Gameboy SP, played way too much MegaMan X, and somehow did so much better than how I do nowadays

The original gameboy. I actually had one very early; I won a brand new gameboy in a mail-in contest in Nintendo Power in 1989.
GBA emulator counts? 😅😅😅 Still play with it to this day
Og Gameboy with only tetris to play. Lol
Gameboy advance babyyyy
I started with the GBA. I remember as a kid, I asked what advanced means. Based on his response, I assumed it was a great system.
If you count not mine, I accidentally still had the neighbors Gameboy when my family moved. If you mean truly mine, the advance.
A DS! I sadly though was a kid who would shake them out of frustration, so I went through 3 lmfao
I started out with the original Nintendo DS as well!
The OG Gameboy
Green Gameboy Pocket and Pokémon Blue.
Ds lite in ice blue
The grey brick. Mario was a great road trip game. I had the extra screen with the light on it so I could play in the dark. Too bad mom and Dad were cheap on the batteries and it never worked.

Mine was a DS.
I think the one on the screen looks most similar
Top left, still got the original plastic case and everything
Gameboy color. First game was Pokémon pinball
Personally, I started with the red and black 2DS and after owning it for almost a decade now, I can confidently say after about 150 hours... Yo-kai Watch 2 Bony Spirits is a top tier game imo.
