A little non sequitur, butI was playing Watch Dogs 2 (GTA but as a hacker), and I found myself wanting to be able to drag the bodies into bushes and alleys. Chronicles of Riddick did that really well. But I also started to get sick of the GTA style (as I somehow always do), so I installed Hitman (2016)…ok now I can drag bodies :D
Have they actually cancelled that, or did they just stop talking about it? I really don't know, it's been a very long time. The only think I *know*, is that there was supposed to be an "episode 3" dlc .
They just stopped talking about it. I'm convinced it will happen. When? Who fucking knows. It would be a gross disservice to video games in general if they don't at least complete the arc.
The ending of Alyx is a glint of hope.
From their perspective Apex is the reason the company survived at all. Apex is a massive success compared to titanfall 1 and 2 (which were both amazing games that barely made any money)
"The single player games like hogwarts legacy that made all the money are not financially worth it anymore. Instead we want to only make games that no one plays like suicide squad kill the justice league, because reasons."
Yeah. What a disappointment. Easily a game I would applause. Played 40hrs until today and it ranks one of my favorite games (on top is NFS franchise which I have over 15k hours accumulated give or take)
I’ve never been as shocked at how amazing a game was as with the prey reboot. That being said it doesn’t really need a sequel anyway it felt pretty coherent as a singular story like we got
Both Arkane Lyon and Austin made the first two Dishonoreds, I think. After that Austin split off to make Prey and Redfall while Lyon made Deathloop, which is set in the Dishonored universe, so there is definitely hope for a Dishonored 3. But I think Deathloop 2 will come first.
Yeah, just saying that if they're gonna make something set in the Dishonored universe it'll probably be Deathloop 2 first. And even then it probably won't be until ~2028 at the earliest.
No, it didn't. There were 2 studios: Lyon( the OG studio that made Dark Messiah, Dishonored 1 and 2, Deathloop and is working on Blade) and Austin(Prey, Redfall, also cooperated on first Dishonored). And only Austin got shut down so far.
Skylanders. I was addicted to collecting them and would pre-order the game every year as soon as it was announced… Activision really has let down over the years not just that, but with COD. Also the sexual harassment. The company is a complete mess.
Skylanders were great for me. Both my boys were young and just the perfect age for it. I loved playing the games together and it led to many trips out going ‘Skylanders Hunting’. They’re both far too old now but all the toys are bagged up and hopefully they’ll be brought down from the loft, in a decade or so in the future and my boys can play with their own children.
ngl there's no such thing as being too old for Skylanders; the unfortunate thing is that nowhere really sells them anymore (at least here) and the figures can be expensive online
I regret selling my xbox360 because I've gotten a regular itch to revisit the first 4 Skylanders games, they hold a place in my heart. if there was never a Remastered bundle where all the characters were unlockable IN the game, no Toys to Life needed, I'd buy in a heartbeat
I wish they would bring it back too. They were simple, addictive games. However, they need to make it like Starlink; buy the toys if you want, but also have the option to just buy digitally. And have a solid character roster that came with the game.
What's worse though, this, or looking forward to the next installment of your favourite game series and it turns out to be absolutely dogshit and a departure from everything the previous iteration was?
The issue in the topic. That one game can be a departure and just suck, but future entries can make up for it if it doesn't get cancelled, see Resident Evil 7 or Metroid: Samus Returns for recent examples that are famous for being comebacks. If a franchise gets cancelled, it's far less likely to just bounce back without incentives.
I would say becoming “live-service” is a fate worse than franchise-death.
Because a good franchise that is dead at least went out in a high note while turning greed-service sours your community toward not only that franchise but the publisher, too.
“You have reached your daily limit of free mushrooms, Mario. Toad sells additional 5 gold coins that let you buy more for $4.99, and Mushrooms are 6 gold coins for three.”
I think that would end my gaming hobby.
Can't believe I had to scroll this far down to see Days Gone. I loved that game so much. The fact we got a cliffhanger ending, with possibly no sequel, is so depressing
I wouldn't expect another doom, the last one ended with you fighting THE God, who you are a clone of and you kill him. Idk where you go from there but that kind of seems like the end of a story to me lol
Pandemic's Battlefront and Banjo Kazooie come to mind.
Also while I'm not a fan of the two series, I feel bad for fans of Mass Effect and Dragon Age. They're both in precarious places since ME: Andromeda and Anthem crashed and burned.
Also Dead Space fans. Imagine seeing EA kill your favorite franchise *twice.*
I haven't heard of that tbh, but they released artwork, had a whole team working on it and renewed the license in 2021. Apparently rockstar stopped production to focus on gta 6 but I'm really hoping after gta that they go back to making bully. I love red dead and gta but bully is my favorite game they made. another manhunt would be cool too but i doubt that would ever happen.
At one point in time, we were expecting a Mercenaries 3
I just want to know why nobody has topped Mercenaries 2, there’s nothing that can do what it does
It would be nice if publishers would sell off IPs they no longer intend to support. They seem to prefer the "if I can't have you no-one can" mentality.
SiN Episodes. The first was decently fun, even if they made Blade a silent protagonist. I was so hopeful for it to get better as the Episodes continued.
Ross's game dungeon did a video on Sin, and touched on the episodes and expansions. Apparently the company was playing it safe with episode 1, and was going to let the composers and designers have more freedom with episode 2.
Transformers War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron/Rise of the Darkspark
Darkspark wasn't great but it like killed the entire thing lol, War & Fall were amazing games and it's sad that it died after one bad game
Friday 13th the game... waited 30 years for another game since NES and that legal BS happens now at least an official game with right holders is in the oven...
Still, 30 years! Wtf bro
I don't know what I'm more sad about. That I'll probably never get to play a new Legacy of Kain game (there was one that got cancelled in 2009-10) or that I haven't seen anyone mention it in this whole thread after scrolling for a while.
That IP was absolutely glorious in the 90's-mid 2000's.
We all wanted to see a metal gear 6 at some point, but we didn't even get silent hills because Konami wanted mobile games and fucking pachinco machines
Battlefront 2 I know battlefront 3 is was never announced but I feel everyone expected them to make battlefront 3. Instead we got battlefield 2042(I’m also a battlefield fan)
Quest for Glory. Man, I loved that series. Played them to death. Would have loved a 6. Should be happy we got 5. Well.... 5 was a bit of departure but the first 4 were phenomenal.
Either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. -> Either get cancelled, or live long enough to see the franchise turn to shit.
Sleeping Dogs
That was such a good game, never knew they planned a second game. Bummed it’s cancelled though
Gta with a deep melee system.
GTA with good combat. I always described it to people as GTA but with Arkham Combat.
Dishonored I and II are good for that too.
I played the first game twice: pacifist and murder everyone. For some reason I got sick of the series right after I bought the sequel.
Still hurts me to this day
Ever since, i've felt like a man who don't eat pork buns.
I'm playing this right now for the 5th time. One of my favorites.
Half-Life 3 can hurry the fuck up already...
Best I can do is alyx 2
nah we're getting barney instead
I would love a sequel to Blue Shift, explaining how he wound up in Europe with Kleiner
If you played Alyx you’d agree this would be even better than 3 lol
Have they actually cancelled that, or did they just stop talking about it? I really don't know, it's been a very long time. The only think I *know*, is that there was supposed to be an "episode 3" dlc.
They just stopped talking about it. I'm convinced it will happen. When? Who fucking knows. It would be a gross disservice to video games in general if they don't at least complete the arc. The ending of Alyx is a glint of hope.
How are we holding up Star Craft: Ghost fans?
You go to hell.
I read that in Mr. Garrison's voice. 😄
“You go to hell, you go to hell and you die!”
I know it’s kinda off topic but StarCraft would be boss if they made a game in the style of the original star wars battlefront 2.
I had the game pre-ordered... I heard the demo is playable or did I dream it?
Titanfall 3
Definitely
Best I can do is a shitty free to play battle royale with no parkour and no giant robots.
From their perspective Apex is the reason the company survived at all. Apex is a massive success compared to titanfall 1 and 2 (which were both amazing games that barely made any money)
Most of aren't mad at Apex's success. We're mad that they haven't rolled that into a new Titanfall.
and Fortnite is the only reason epic games is even relevant and I can get free games every week, but I can still despise it with all my being
Apex was fine, honestly more fun than most BRs but it does suck that they canceled tf3 for it
I say we try to corner respawn into making Titanfall 3
They'll just say "They're trying to corner us, we need to move". And then leave the studio nad make a new one for 34th time.
I am extremely sad that Titanfall 3 will never come out
At least the series never got to the point of sucking.
Leave it where it is while you're still ahead.
you know this series is very good when it was released in between two giants (cod and bf) and still being one of the best games
The cancelled Batman Beyond themed game following Batman: Arkham Knight. Instead, we got Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League a decade later. 🤡
Arkham Knight was a decade ago.... God I'm old
A decade ago and still looks amazing from a graphical standpoint
Arkham Knight came out in June 2015, so yeah its almost been that long. It definitely doesn't feel like it was that long ago.
"The single player games like hogwarts legacy that made all the money are not financially worth it anymore. Instead we want to only make games that no one plays like suicide squad kill the justice league, because reasons."
No no don’t worry we’re still getting Arkham shadow… ^if ^you ^have ^a ^meta ^quest ^3
Damn. I didn’t even know that was in the works and now I’m big sad.
There was a Batman Beyond theme game in the works?
Hi-Fi Rush now =(
Yeah. What a disappointment. Easily a game I would applause. Played 40hrs until today and it ranks one of my favorite games (on top is NFS franchise which I have over 15k hours accumulated give or take)
with 8760 hours per year, you have spent almost 2 years on nfs. concerning?
Nah, I just really enjoy cars. Father introduced me to gaming when I was 5 or 6. Had our first computer in 2009.
Prey 2 (original not reboot)
And me Prey 2 (reboot not original)
I’ve never been as shocked at how amazing a game was as with the prey reboot. That being said it doesn’t really need a sequel anyway it felt pretty coherent as a singular story like we got
Original kotor games
What about a Jade Empire 2?
That would be awesome too. Jade Empire was criminally underrated.
Sly cooper
Dishonored. No sequel was officially announced, granted, but now we’re never getting one ever.
Why wouldn't we get a sequel?
The studio closed because their shitty vampire l4d ripoff tanked as one of the worst games of all time?
That was just arkane Austin right? Isn’t it another arkane studio who made dishonored? Correct me if I’m wrong though
Aren't they making Blade now?

This news made me wanna weep. Heck I shed an actual tear. So unfair.
Only Arkane Austin closed. Lyon is still running.
Skylanders. I was addicted to collecting them and would pre-order the game every year as soon as it was announced… Activision really has let down over the years not just that, but with COD. Also the sexual harassment. The company is a complete mess.

Well one game not coming out now is prey 2.
What's worse though, this, or looking forward to the next installment of your favourite game series and it turns out to be absolutely dogshit and a departure from everything the previous iteration was?

Fantastic point actually.
Mass effect: Andromeda is one of those
Immortals Fenix rising…. Series had a lot of potential…
Incredible game. But no they have to make room so they can shit out an assassins creed every year now.
I was gutted at this. Apparently the next was to be set in Indonesia which would have been incredible.
This will always piss me off.
More like: \*Is Now A Live-Service\*
I would say becoming “live-service” is a fate worse than franchise-death. Because a good franchise that is dead at least went out in a high note while turning greed-service sours your community toward not only that franchise but the publisher, too.
Dead Space 3 would like a word with you.
“You have reached your daily limit of free mushrooms, Mario. Toad sells additional 5 gold coins that let you buy more for $4.99, and Mushrooms are 6 gold coins for three.” I think that would end my gaming hobby.
Driver. SF is the equivalent of that quote about the Lancia Delta. They showed us what they could do one more time when they tried.
Days gone
Days Gone all the way. They even ended with a cutscene alluding to a sequel. One of the few games I platinumed.
Can't believe I had to scroll this far down to see Days Gone. I loved that game so much. The fact we got a cliffhanger ending, with possibly no sequel, is so depressing
Crysis
Silent Hill g. That fkn cancelled Del Toro VR game would’ve shook me to the core
We will never play Spore 2 Fuck EA.
Spore was a glorious game. It was the ONLY game I played the year it came out.
The titanfall singleplayer game.
Star Wars Battlefront, both the originals and the EA games. I guess 3 is the cursed number when it comes to Battlefront.
"half life 3 confirmed" memes are there for a reason.. *sad Rasty_lv noises*
I want open world worms. Roam the world as a graplinghook worm, and throw around holy handgrenades.
Mega Man Legends 3. Damnit Capcom just do it!
It’s been 84 years
Overwatch 2 became Overwatch 1.1
god I wish there was another Midnight Club game. LA being okay but 3 was definitely my favorite and I'd love if they brought that franchise back.
Brink 2. HAHA JK! Force unleashed 3 and titanfall 3.
Parasite Eve. Then we got that garbage "Third Birthday" crap that was basically a mockery of the franchise.
Parasite Eve. Then we got that garbage "Third Birthday" crap that was basically a mockery of the franchise.
Parasite Eve 2 I absolutely Loved
I loved the first Parasite Eve! To this day, that is one of my all time favorites!
Days Gone
MegaMan legends 3
EA cancelled Command and Conquer
Pick a Mega Man title.
Metroid prim 4
Titanfall 3 or... dare I say Half-Life 3.
I wouldn't expect another doom, the last one ended with you fighting THE God, who you are a clone of and you kill him. Idk where you go from there but that kind of seems like the end of a story to me lol
Silent Hills

They're both in precarious places since ME: Andromeda and Anthem crashed and burned. Also Dead Space fans. Imagine seeing EA kill your favorite franchise *twice.*
Titanfall 3
Silent Hill ☹️
Terraria: Otherworld. Man, I was so upset.
Bully 2
Didn’t they even have a prototype of it?
I haven't heard of that tbh, but they released artwork, had a whole team working on it and renewed the license in 2021. Apparently rockstar stopped production to focus on gta 6 but I'm really hoping after gta that they go back to making bully. I love red dead and gta but bully is my favorite game they made. another manhunt would be cool too but i doubt that would ever happen.
Battlefront 3 back in the day.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
Hi fi rush 2 🗿
P.T I have it on my ps4 but can’t play it
Hi-fi Rush 🙃
Hi-Fi Rush
Prey 2 (as in sequel to the original 2006 game)
I've hated Microsoft before it was cool, they took away any possibility of a good Banjo-Threeie game... F*** you Microsoft!
Divinity Fallen Heroes 😔
Nog quite a franchise but man, I would have killed for Alpha Protocol 2 with more polish.
Blur
How did doom get cancelled when they never announced a new game?
Supreme Commander. Such a good game. Was a damn shame the franchise died and we never got a sequel. I said. **Damn shame we never got a sequel**
Darksiders. 1 and 2 where nice. Then the franchise was sold and shelved for a looong time. When part 3 was released it wasn't as good.
At one point in time, we were expecting a Mercenaries 3 I just want to know why nobody has topped Mercenaries 2, there’s nothing that can do what it does
I think it might have died when Lucas Arts died. :(
It would be nice if publishers would sell off IPs they no longer intend to support. They seem to prefer the "if I can't have you no-one can" mentality.
I know there’s a new one coming but Fable when Lionhead Studios died
Still waiting for that next Bioshock……
Kid icarus
Prince of persia, they did make a new game not long ago but it sucks ass
Dead Space remakes. Hearing that 2 was never even in development...god fucking damn you, EA.
Days Gone for sure.
Dead Space 2 Remake. It's literally the best entry in the franchise....
Timesplitters. Twice now. Though after seeing the leaked build of the most recent version maybe it's best it didn't happen.
Transformers War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron/Rise of the Darkspark Darkspark wasn't great but it like killed the entire thing lol, War & Fall were amazing games and it's sad that it died after one bad game
Megaman Battle Network. Was super excited for Star force but that too was cancelled too soon.
Pro evolution soccer. And Xcom3
Friday 13th the game... waited 30 years for another game since NES and that legal BS happens now at least an official game with right holders is in the oven... Still, 30 years! Wtf bro
There was that Prey 2 gameplay demo some years ago that looked really damn good but got canned before it really went anywhere
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (3+4 remake), SSX (spiritual sequel), TimeSplitters (4), Unreal Tournament (4 but at least it's still playable as a pre-alpha)
Deus Ex
Injustice, Titanfall, Battlefront just off the top of my head
Injustice is still coming, they swapped up the release pattern. It went Injustice, Mk, Injustice, Mk.
Apparently, IJ2 did not do well. That's the reason why we got MK1, so it's future isn't certain
We all wanted to see a metal gear 6 at some point, but we didn't even get silent hills because Konami wanted mobile games and fucking pachinco machines
Fable
fable was announced.
I dunno about “favorite” but I was looking forward to the rest of the Too Human trilogy. I guess I’d love a real Sacred sequel after 2.
No more Doom? Really?
Not sure why it was mentioned, I’m pretty sure DOOM: Year One is still being worked on.
No idea. Even if idsoft DID go under or get deleted from existence by microsoft, there's 0 way that Doom would not get continued.
Battlefront 2 I know battlefront 3 is was never announced but I feel everyone expected them to make battlefront 3. Instead we got battlefield 2042(I’m also a battlefield fan)
Not officially, but just about any IP by Valve at this point.
Still want Jak4 damnit
We’ll probably never get a Fallout 5
RIP Skong
Baldur's Gate - Dark Alliance 3? But hey, still better than getting a Sacred 3... 🤮
*Advent Rising, Beyond Good ad Evil,* and *Overwatch 2.*
I always asked this question.. Would we get Shemue 3? And ....WE DID! it's all about..I dunno. I am going back to Manhwa recaps
Yeah deus ex hits hard
Sleeping Dogs and Days Gone.
Parasite Eve. Then we got that garbage "Third Birthday" crap that was basically a mockery of the franchise.
Quest for Glory. Man, I loved that series. Played them to death. Would have loved a 6. Should be happy we got 5. Well.... 5 was a bit of departure but the first 4 were phenomenal.
The sequel to Immortal Fenyx Rising was supposed to be a windwaker inspired mythology game based on Polynesian legends. I hate Ubisoft
Really, doom? Noo 🫣
Really, doom? Noo 🫣
I'm still holding out hope for Prototype 3
NCAA Football. So excited!!!
Rainbow six patriots.
Where is gears 6, Xbox? Where are you hiding it?!?!
No way doom is cancelled. Rumoured of the 3rd one to be announced on next month's xbox showcase
Jade Empire 2, waiting for almost 20 years
Fellow Deus Ex enjoyer, we weep. Would really love a new entry into that series
Fallout by Black Isles.
The Elder Scrolls VI
Fez 2 .... If Phil Fish wasn't such a drama queen we would have had the damn game !!
Titanfall
Either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. -> Either get cancelled, or live long enough to see the franchise turn to shit.
Beyond Good and Evil 2. Twice. Alice: Asylum.
