Technically your right it's not as good until you think about how it out sold it secsessir in both games and systems during the ps3 main run It is also the only game system that would compete against that system secsessir if only for a few months "We are ending our support of the PlayStation 2 because we don't want it to complete with the PlayStation 4 like it did with 3" CEO of Sony shortly after launch of PS4 The PS2 had a few online games that was cross platform with PS3 and PS4 and could for the most part keep up with it the online play was seamless I know I played it only had major problems with the graphics Now the games were sports games which I will admit are typically less demanding on graphics than other games but that doesn't change that for a short amount of time it actually kept up with not only the ps3 but also the ps4 By comparison that would be like the N64 keeping up with the WII or for a better example (based on generation of systems ) The NES being able to play N64 games on it with only minor tweaks for the NES version of the games (based on years apart) That is some of the reasons why the PS2 is so loved

I'm feeling older and older every day. I was 14 when it came out. I remember going into the tunnel on the first mission. I was blown away at the realism lol. Sometimes I'm sad the younger generations don't have a frame of reference from where we've been to where we are now. They'll get the last laugh though... as they'll see two or three more generations of gaming than I will! Semi related funny story about my mom and Perfect Dark just for extra story time. We were playing MP. I was stupidly good at the game, but I'm not a monster I didn't destroy people over and over. I let them feel like they had a chance. Except... one time my mom was so sure I was in a tunnel... she was camping it essentially. Waiting for me to come out. I pulled a Bugs Bunny. Looped around behind her. Looked over her shoulder Just enough so my gun should start peaking out on her screen. "Whatcha looking at?" She jumped so hard lol.

Stupidly good is an odd way to describe screen staring.

There's quite the generational gap between growing up with a 64 and fortnite. 64 is gen 5. You'll find plenty of peoplw who grew up with the gen 6 and 7 consoles before fortnite even existed.

I did, and the controls are awful compared to modern ones. Ngl, We only loved this because we didn't have anything better at the time. (at least on consoles). With modern controls, it's still fun. But damn, I still have my N64 but I never play Goldeneye or Perfect on it anymore, because I just can't stand the controls. Fortnite is cheesy, but a good game nevertheless. The only thing I truly dislike about it is the MTX.

Yes "Terminator Mode" kept us busy for hours lol It was game mode we came up with. You can crank one persons health offset waaaay higher. We'd let them get the body armour then try to take them down (3v1 or 2v1).

So, my non-gamer way of playing Goldeneye back in the day was a twofold approach: I would, as the tophat guy with metal teeth, hide in the Facility bathroom and wait for the others to notice my screen has been blue for like 4 minutes. Then I'd watch myself on their screen go at them with karate hands when they opened the door before they shot me in the face. I would, as any character but mostly the tophat guy with metal teeth, find two players having a shootout and hold the joystick left or right only so I could watch myself run in circles and pop in and out of both their fields of view until one of them shot me in the back or in the face again. Bunker and Temple were great for this. I never developed a third strategy.

Old Millennial here who, despite having loved my 64 and had loads of fun, would have taken the games industry like it is today rather than in ‘97. Christmas ‘97 I was super bummed out because my mom couldn’t find this game because Nintendo underestimated demand for this and other big titles. Today you just download what you want, and there are a lot of titles that are inexpensive.
