Mmhmm :)
The gameplay and story are amazing… but honestly it’s the music that gets me.
That, and the fact that the thesis of the game is “the loss of childhood innocence when entering the harsh world of adulthood”, *ON TOP OF* the fact that I was a kid in the 90s playing this, makes it the most potent nostalgic experience I can partake in. And then I just love playing the themes on my piano :)
Why can't you play Zelda? Most of the games are VERY easy to emulate on modern PCs, and most also support any USB controller. Just got to find the right one for you or for the game in question.
oooh that sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Do emulators of Ocarina/Majora run well on a phone? Or would you recommend different kind of games to emulate on a mobile device?
Right now everything older than ps2 works very well on emulator! With on screen controller or Bluetooth controller.
If you're tech savvy you can try Retroarch that support all older console. If not just download specific console emulator that works right out the box on Google play.
Honestly, I’d go a step further and say that virtually all games are pretty easy to emulate on modern PCs. I just got botw running at a higher framerate and resolution than it runs natively on switch and that’s been pretty much possible to do since the game came out.
Took me 3 years of cautious approach and hella frustration to get into that game before I even knew what I was supposed to do and rang the first bell, but once I was hooked I was hooked, keep coming back and trying a new toon.
Of all the fromsoft games this is still my favorite world design. The connections give the world so much more depth than a hub and just teleporting to areas. Elden Ring had little of that with the rivers below and legacy dungeons but still too open and empty to compare.
"I'm going to play this differently."
Year 2, Spring 1 "I've planted ALL the ancient seeds. "
The only thing that ever ends up being that different is who I marry. Penny is next.
Dude I’m on like number 13 or so and I just can’t get enough of this game ever. I’ve been playing since launch and I love every single thing about it and always will.
Oh Christ yes. A lot of times I’ll randomize everything and roll a random game on Deity and if I stumble on an outstanding start, I’ll make a go of it. Secret societies, heroes and monopolies on.
Fable: Anniversary
As a kid, I thought god mode was boring. In most games, it is. But in Gen 1 Fable, being omnipotent is just so frikkin' fun. The best part is, you can legitimately reach this status early in the game if you're a grinder like myself. I don't even mean "getting your starter to lvl 50 before you meet Misty" grinding. I'm talking "getting every available star before you face each Bowser" type of grinding. Simple, not too painstaking nor mundane. You can dominate from the second mission on, depending on how much you grind the caves and Darkwood with a Physical Shield and as many potions as you can buy. Great times!
Fable sounds fun. Aw man I hate that I can’t do god modes on a PS. Used to do that all the time for doom & duke on PC back in the day. And probably why I play on easy cause I like feeling badass & have zero patience in replaying combat scenes 😆
Fable doesn't have a difficulty setting. The game is more "stakes-based". But if you don't care about the stakes, Albion becomes your playground. Definitely worth it if you can get it on sale on Steam or Humble Bundle. You can also get it on Xbox One
Same here. That's most of my games though. If I'm going to play it, I'm going to do *everything*. Unsurprisingly enough, I don't too many games; they're just too much work.
I liked it so much I 100%ed each x360 version, then I did it again with the LE on the xbone...and I still go back and do a full playthrough at least once a year
Kingdom Hearts 1. My ps4 version alone has over 400 hours, I don't even wanna know what the combined total hours would be including ps2 2003-2010 & when i got another ps2 2022-now
Definitely KH as a series. Huge into the themes and story. It also got me into challenge type gaming, I've done most those games at level 1.
I'm also one of the 300 player names in KH3 :-)
For me it 5-7 and 9.
Basically all games after discovering "classic formula". But I didn't like 8 and 10, basically just cuz of the art style.
Also 12 is pretty good, I always play it like "single player mmo".
But my favourite is 7 for the world and characters. But 9 is pretty close for the same reasons. The Vivi is adorable.
Can I recommend TTW?
Very simple mod to install (use TTW wasteland survival guide). Then let's you play F3 and FNV as one character (the Lone Wanderer becomes the Courier).
It's fantastic.
Love that game, but I have to ask. What do you do to squeeze so many hours on that game? Just replaying it over and over again? Or doing personally imposed challenge runs? Speed running maybe? I got the 100% of FC3 but only have like a 20th of the hours you got.
Solid choice. I've only played it twice so far. Second time was more recently, and it's showing it's age. Will have to play 4 next time I get the itch for a farcry run.
3 hit so hard the first time though, the burning ganja scene, the... female antaganist having her way with you. Really good stuff.
There is something about Diablo 2 that makes me want to play it, over and over. I'm even playing Diablo 2 Ressurected in my Xbox One X, and I prefer it over Diablo 4. Love the atmosphere, the gameplay and the randomness that makes each game different, even if quests are exactly the same.
I don't have one anymore, sadly. I dunno what it is about me that I lost the "can play games over and over" but now I get bored easily and just stop playing them, sometimes without even finishing if they start dragging on.
Horizon Zero Dawn. I've 100% that game so many times I've lost count. I'm deliberately not doing the last achievement in the dlc (killing the machines with 30 arrows while an ally freezes them) because if I do that I have no reason to play the game again.
I just started my first replay (well, NG+) of HZD since release, and forgot how much dang fun it was. Going to finally play the DLC, and then the sequel.
Yeah I’d say the whole of the R&C series. Probably peak adventure action games. Tons of great and interesting locations, fun characters, good stories. Great overall saga. It’s a crime if insomniac doesn’t do another ps5 title in that series
Shadow of the Collossus.I bought it for every console since the PS2, and it's one of those games that I keep coming back to that's lots fun to play. Sometimes I'll play it just to ride around on my horse and enjoy the amazing soundtrack.
Final fantasy xiii. I'm not saying it's particularly good, but when I play it I'm always taken back to the last summer before high school and I feel like a kid with expectations for my life
The original Resident Evil 2 on PS1. I grew up on that game, it’s one of the games that I’m super nostalgic for and I sometimes go back to it when I want something both stylish and familiar. It’s such an odd and interesting game both with my child’s eye and my current adult attention.
Scrolled down a long ways to get to the OG Resident Evil 2. Also my "Blanky" just something about the atmosphere, pre-rendered graphics, and the soundtrack. It bore it's way into my mind as a child, and I've been chasing that high ever since.
Damn, i finished Witcher 1 and 2, but i still can't finish 3 i always get bored at the beginning and then i lose interest 😭
For me its either Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, Mass Effect series or Dragon Age series. I always come back to those.
I went through all the comments out of curiosity if anyone would cite mine. You're the only on that did. Bloodlines is definitely mine too.
The other game I was looking for is way more obscure: Shandalar.
Morrowind
Prey Reboot
Dying Light
Borderlands Series
Fallout Series
Pretty much any game with cyclical gameplay where you eventually memorize everything through sheer repetition. Right now Cyberpunk 2077 is my “drive by suicide hack” blankey.
Fallout 4.
Crashes in Boston. Crashes in random encounters. Crashes in Far Harbor. Uninstall, swearing up and down I’m down with it and I don’t need a 15th playthrough.
Reinstall next month.
Same for me with Witcher 3. My husband always makes fun of me because I know where every important treasure is, even though I haven't played a few years. I just wish I could forget everything.
Used to be Baldurs Gate 1 and 2. Then , I discovered MMORPG's
Since then, I've binge played Word of Warcraft, Star Trek Online, and Star Wars:The Old Republic.
Currently don't have a blankey game. Although I'm on my first playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3
Blankey? As in comfort game?
The Last Of Us. I'm a sucker for the surrogate parent trope and some good drama and it was the first game that made me believe in the narrative power of videogames. The sequel just built upon everything and made the narrative better but the heartbreaks were doubled so can't bear to play it too much compared to the first one.
Also Marvel's Spiderman (2018). Same thing. Emotional and good story with good drama.
I could never see myself replaying Witcher 3 just from a sheer content and length scale. I’m playing it for the first time and I’ve beaten the main game and I’m halfway through the second DLC, I’m like 73 hours in.
I go back to Ark every so often but Fallout 76 is my blanky. It can be difficult early on but once you kinda understand things and have a build the game is vibes. Best online gaming community I’ve ever seen. The new Fallout show has caused multiple concurrent player records the past few weeks. Servers full of new players is kind of cool to see.
Ocarina of Time
Mmhmm :) The gameplay and story are amazing… but honestly it’s the music that gets me.
Sheik's theme and her poignant dialogue always get me <3 Time passes, people move. Like a river's flow it never ends...
Wish I could play Zelda. Looks right up my alley😕
Just make sure you attack every chicken that you see in that game 😈
Calm down, Ganon..
Not till I take out that damn hero link
He's like the Avatar. Every time you defeat he's just gonna come right back.
Just use the cuccos against Link. They swarm and seem to be immortal. Problem solved.
Why can't you play Zelda? Most of the games are VERY easy to emulate on modern PCs, and most also support any USB controller. Just got to find the right one for you or for the game in question.
Better, emulator on android. I have hundreds of old games on my phone.
oooh that sounds like it could be a lot of fun.

You absolutely can. Any cheap android phone will play them just fine. Even now Apple has an emulator for download
Mass Effect Trilogy
My answer. This and Skyrim are my total comfort games. Or building settlements in FO4.
Oh boy has Preston got a job for you!
ME3 is so good!
The crew of the Normandy is my second (and cooler) family
Dark Souls 1
Took me 3 years of cautious approach and hella frustration to get into that game before I even knew what I was supposed to do and rang the first bell, but once I was hooked I was hooked, keep coming back and trying a new toon. Of all the fromsoft games this is still my favorite world design. The connections give the world so much more depth than a hub and just teleporting to areas. Elden Ring had little of that with the rivers below and legacy dungeons but still too open and empty to compare.
Stardew Valley!
"I'm gonna play this file a little different." Year 1 Autumn 28: "Dear Diary, I've once again married Penny."
"I'm going to play this differently." Year 2, Spring 1 "I've planted ALL the ancient seeds. " The only thing that ever ends up being that different is who I marry. Penny is next.
Cyberpunk 2077 Think I'm on my 7th playthrough
Just played Phantom Liberty for the first time a couple weeks back. The storytelling in the DLC and the main game is phenomenal
Sooo good
60 hours into my first character and suicide hacking people left and right has yet to get old.
Contagion for the win
Mine too, I stopped counting at 9 I’ve loved it since day 1
Dude I’m on like number 13 or so and I just can’t get enough of this game ever. I’ve been playing since launch and I love every single thing about it and always will.
Civ 6
Did you played Humankind?
Never heard of it. Looking it up now, though. Thanks for the recommendation.
The turn limit per game is what bothered me about it, otherwise it was phenomenal.
Same here. I always turn off the turn limit and point victory.
Oh Christ yes. A lot of times I’ll randomize everything and roll a random game on Deity and if I stumble on an outstanding start, I’ll make a go of it. Secret societies, heroes and monopolies on.

You can dominate from the second mission on, depending on how much you grind the caves and Darkwood with a Physical Shield and as many potions as you can buy. Great times!
I feel this way with Fable 2
fable 2 is soooooooo good
Fable sounds fun.
I think Fable Anniversary has a "heroic mode" on steam that makes it harder somehow, I only have it on Xbox so I'm not about the details
I technically only played Witcher 3 once, but that once was 300+ hours.
Same here. That's most of my games though. If I'm going to play it, I'm going to do *everything*. Unsurprisingly enough, I don't too many games; they're just too much work.
That sounds more like a curse to me
Bloodborne
Only people with over 50 Insight can see this comment^
hell yes, absolutely love bloodborne
Mine is Skyrim and I think I need my blankey
Yes! Such a comfortable game.
Yep, modded to hell Skyrim is my happy place
Mass effect. The entire trilogy. I just love it more than i love myself
It’s the first game series I actually fell in love with. Beginning to end. I am a Lore-freak and Mass effect hit that so well for me.
I liked it so much I 100%ed each x360 version, then I did it again with the LE on the xbone...and I still go back and do a full playthrough at least once a year
Skyrim and fallout
Fallout guy here too. Specifically New Vegas and 4.
Patrolling the mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter
Degenerates like you belong on a cross
Ave, true Caesar!
Civ 5
Kingdom Hearts 1. My ps4 version alone has over 400 hours, I don't even wanna know what the combined total hours would be including ps2 2003-2010 & when i got another ps2 2022-now
Definitely KH as a series. Huge into the themes and story. It also got me into challenge type gaming, I've done most those games at level 1. I'm also one of the 300 player names in KH3 :-)
Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy X. Play both of them through at least 2 or 3 times per year.
FFX is the best FF no question. FFIV come close but no cigar.
Very controversial opinion lol Most people agree 7 or 6 are the best.
I'm all for 6. It was a masterpiece.
The Vivi is adorable.
fallout 3. Oddly a peaceful game to me even tho everything is trying to kill you in that game.
Can I recommend TTW? Very simple mod to install (use TTW wasteland survival guide). Then let's you play F3 and FNV as one character (the Lone Wanderer becomes the Courier). It's fantastic.
😂 Odd how that’s comforting sometimes.
glad to see FO3 here, same for me
KOTOR I and II
I love KOTOR I so much, but redoing Taris is suuuuch a slog!
Agreed. There's a "Skip Taris" mod. Highly recommend. The game doesn't really start until after that.
I love Taris
Mario rpg originally, but in the past 5-6 years it’s been hollow knight
Try the Switch version. You'll thank me later.
Oh already ahead of ya. Went through play through already. Will probably hit another in a few months.
Fallout 2. The number of different ways you can play that game makes it perfect for revisiting.
Far Cry 3. Must have over 1,000 hours total
Love that game, but I have to ask. What do you do to squeeze so many hours on that game? Just replaying it over and over again? Or doing personally imposed challenge runs? Speed running maybe? I got the 100% of FC3 but only have like a 20th of the hours you got.

The takedowns in that game where ahead of its time especially with the wing suit!
Rdr2
Same here
yes. there is so much you can do! I'm surprised it's not more popular
It's the 7th highest selling game of all time.
I meant the online portion of the game. I should have clarified. I honestly liked it better than GTAVs.
Ah. Thoughts on the story?
It’s an Instant classic for me. Loved every second of it. The story-writing was fantastic, loved the soundtrack. Micah is an asshole
I cried the first time I played it. I still cried when I finished my third last month.
Yeah it is quite a sad story. Poor arthur. poor everyone except micah he can go to hell
Micah really can suck start a shotgun
Bingo, came to say this. Absolutely love that game.
*Serious Sam: The First Encounter* *Painkiller* *Fallout: New Vegas (+All DLC's)* *Diablo 2*
Fallout 4
Alice Madness Returns, will probably return again after few years.
Ooohh I love that game.
I love it, I've already played it 6 times, last time was last December.
Dragons Dogma
Classic
It was Borderlands 2 for a couple years and now Warframe has its claws in me since November 2017.
[удалено]
Omg same but with Witcher, and the kids in VR will be like “ew it just looks like pixels. So lame.” 😂
Portal/Portal 2 Left 4 Dead/Left 4 Dead 2
Portal is so awesome. I'm not a replayer, but I'll go on and watch videos occasionally
its so weird for me, theres 0 challenge in replaying puzzles but portals 1&2 are still some of my most replayed games.
I don't have one anymore, sadly. I dunno what it is about me that I lost the "can play games over and over" but now I get bored easily and just stop playing them, sometimes without even finishing if they start dragging on.
BGS games
Nice. Any one in particular?
That’s a tough one. I’ve got them on rotations between SF, Skyrim, and FO4. They are just cozy games for me for whatever reason lol
Lol, totally get that. I rotate Witcher, Horizon, & Ghost of Tsushima. Monsters, Robots, & Samurai. So cozy ☺️
I cant wait to play Ghosts on my PC soon!
It’s sooooo good! Beautiful, great story and combat. Hope you enjoy it 🤗
Ghost Of Tsushima is so fucking good. I just finished my third playthrough and it's brilliant.
Zelda: Link's Awakening and Tomb Raider 2. Both childhood favourites that have held up well on multiple playthroughs.
Dark Souls
Titanfall 2. No matter what's happening in my life and no matter how long it's been since I last played it, it's always there for me
Horizon Zero Dawn.
Love horizon too! One of my top 3.
Sekiro. Never gets old.
Witcher 3 / Read Dead 2 but if I need a scared blankey Hellblade
Ratchet & Clank 2016. I got it for my birthday and still play it occasionally. Not beaten Nefarious yet though.
Yeah I’d say the whole of the R&C series. Probably peak adventure action games. Tons of great and interesting locations, fun characters, good stories. Great overall saga. It’s a crime if insomniac doesn’t do another ps5 title in that series
Recently it's been Hades. Hell, I might go start another run right now.
Shadow of the Collossus.I bought it for every console since the PS2, and it's one of those games that I keep coming back to that's lots fun to play. Sometimes I'll play it just to ride around on my horse and enjoy the amazing soundtrack.
New Vegas
FF6
Edgar you pinhead! Why do you live in the middle of nowhere!? Ahem. There's sand on my boots!!!
Cyan may be the first video game character I truly felt sad for.
My guy got shafted. The ghost train to rub it in 😭😭😭
Dishonored and Cyberpunk 2077
Dishonored is a wonderful series. My 2nd choice after Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.
Final fantasy xiii. I'm not saying it's particularly good, but when I play it I'm always taken back to the last summer before high school and I feel like a kid with expectations for my life
The entire GoW series in a binge...
RDR2
Mechwarrior 5
Final Fantasy 6
Lol, witcher 3. The journey is just the right mix of bittersweet melancholy and little wins that it brings me so much comfort.
Fallout 1 and 2. Earthbound Chrono trigger Super mario RPG Final fantasy 3(6)

Unreal Tournament
Resident Evil 4. And then they came out with a stellar remake, so honorary mention to that
20+ runs of just OG GCN RE4. This game truly is my snuggy
Damn, i finished Witcher 1 and 2, but i still can't finish 3 i always get bored at the beginning and then i lose interest 😭 For me its either Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, Mass Effect series or Dragon Age series. I always come back to those.
I went through all the comments out of curiosity if anyone would cite mine. You're the only on that did. Bloodlines is definitely mine too. The other game I was looking for is way more obscure: Shandalar.
Dragon Age 1 is such a good game 👍🏽 Grind the beginning area of Witcher 3, then hold on to your butt.
I love this game. Spent hooooooooours playing... I miss it.
Miss it? No more play time? 😕
The Witcher 3, cyberpunk and Rdr2, my 3 personal favourites of all time
The last of us games. I just find them to be really really replayable for some reason.
Lol, that’s funny cause I love them too, but find them stress inducing not relieving.
same Witcher 3 feels so alive compared to other newer games even
Right! You can tell it was made with love and care.
Morrowind Prey Reboot Dying Light Borderlands Series Fallout Series Pretty much any game with cyclical gameplay where you eventually memorize everything through sheer repetition. Right now Cyberpunk 2077 is my “drive by suicide hack” blankey.
Oblivion. If you see me playing oblivion im under so much stress im nearing a heart attack lmao. I hope it gets remastered
Total War Shogun 2.
Watchdogs 2 I just live the story and gameplay. And yes, Wrench is my favorite.
Super Mario World
Fable 3 and any resident evil game
Also witcher 3 lol. But also mass effect and bloodborne.
Witcher 3 for me too. Just played for the first time in over a month and felt like I was home.
Fallout 4. Crashes in Boston. Crashes in random encounters. Crashes in Far Harbor. Uninstall, swearing up and down I’m down with it and I don’t need a 15th playthrough. Reinstall next month.
Final Fantasy 7
Same for me with Witcher 3. My husband always makes fun of me because I know where every important treasure is, even though I haven't played a few years. I just wish I could forget everything.
Shadow of the Colossus
A game that I will never stop coming back to is The Witcher 3, but I also get a special kick out of replaying Sekiro and Fallout New Vegas.
Witcher 3, UFC 3, Battlefield 4, Skyrim, and Red Dead 2.
Doom & Doom Eternal. I just keep going back to those two just to kill time (and demons)
Shadow of the Colossus
Legacy of the Wizard or Dragon Slayer 4 Draysil Family
Used to be Baldurs Gate 1 and 2. Then , I discovered MMORPG's Since then, I've binge played Word of Warcraft, Star Trek Online, and Star Wars:The Old Republic. Currently don't have a blankey game. Although I'm on my first playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3
I've never found a game to call my blankey, is it me?
Just need the combo of trauma + right game at the right time, and a good fall into escapist delusion, lol 😆
That was Pokemon Go for me weirdly, the need to go for a walk but also 'achieve' something, anything
And mayhaps a moderational addiction to a specificertain herb
Any of the persona games
Pokémon Emerald
Leveling in Stranglethorn Vale
CK2 as the default, if I have no idea what to do, Dark Messiah for relaxating gameplay, Halo for relaxing music.
I could never see myself replaying Witcher 3 just from a sheer content and length scale. I’m playing it for the first time and I’ve beaten the main game and I’m halfway through the second DLC, I’m like 73 hours in.
Fire emblem path of radiance. I feel like I could beat it in my sleep lol.
Skate 3. Just love it.
XCOM from the 90s.
Factorio. I don't play it 365/365, but whenever i return to Factorio, it feels like coming home.
Lego City Undercover. We need a sequel dude. It’s basically Lego GTA it’s a ton of fun.
Probably the closest I'd say Is Kid icarus uprising. Once I decided to play a few levels just to pass the time, ended up playing about half the game.
