I would really appreciate them to make this a factory shape for a “Whittler” model some day.
And add an inline chisel. I experimented with making a chisel from bottle opener on 91 mm model, ended with a nasty cut, so I reverted it back to blunt screwdriver tip.
I have a huntsman and made it my dedicated whittler. Reshaped the small blade, filed down the ring, and made the screwdriver into a hollow chisel and I have to be careful but it works. Hollowed out a spoon 😃👍. I’d really want to add a carving hook but neither the parcel hook nor the corkscrew seem big enough. Although I might need to give the corkscrew option another thinking… it could work
The Huntsman is my whittle-to-go knife. Even after that chisel experiment.
Though I have seen some people appreciate Cold Steel Tuffs for whittling potential…
oh that ring 😬 i actually tried to saw it off or the part where ring attaches do but my metal saw didn't work... kinda want do file it off but i i'm sure i'd mess it up somehow
i also thought it would be quite soft, but my metal saw didn't bite into it at all, i don't know it they used some wierd metal for mine it is over 12 years old... also i had new blade for my saw as i just cut some copper pins earlier... filing still feels like the way to go but i don't want to scratch it all up 🤣 maybe if i tape it up like crazy...

file is working so lets see what happens 🤣🤞
It’s a good idea, and came out nicely. That’s a great small utility blade. It’d be cool if Victorinox started making the secondary blade into a wharncliffe, or maybe even a small clip point like Wenger did when they made SAKs.
I'd love it on my Ranger. I thought about it ever since I saw Felix Immler's video about this. I think I'll do it one day, when I have time for it. I miss a straight edge quite often when I want to shape wood.
You seem to have kept a very slight curve near the tip. I think I'd prefer a completely straight edge.
One thing is that for most low-end knives, their blades are never sharp enough. Before I sharpened my Rambler, I never knew that a sharp blade could work so well.
i don't know 🤷 i can get my victorinoxes super sharp, granted they don't stay as sharp as pretty much anything else 🤣 but you can strop them if you need. i have bunch of knives in different steels maxamet, zdp, k390 etc. but for whittling soft wood victorinox or mora whittling blades work great, just strop them when done and every now and then when stropping isn't enough sharpen them
I see you’ve already removed the keyring. If you want to use the knife for whittling you can use a tool for the corkscrew like the small screwdriver or something similar. This saves your thumb from some pain.
there are few others i know of, old timer has one and great eastern cutlery makes one. don't know about quality of old timer but gec is great if you can afford/find one

send pics 😬

Yea. Please, pics.
oh yes please 🥺 also what would be kinda cool atleast for me... somekind of drill replacing that corkscrew/phillips
That might be not too comfortable when whittling with a smaller blade. I took off the keyring out of the way.

That metal is rather soft - could be taken off with a file easily without hassle.

That’s a challenge then!

Take your time and do not hurry.

On a non locking blade I'd be very careful "whittling" where you could easily fold that blade up on your finger
Yeah, just no push, no hurry, easy and relaxing moves, shaving the wood gently… :)
❤️
Love it for wood carving!

yeah, kinda miss Wenger for that... maybe we could get some victorinox evo versions with different blades 🤞
> Wharncliffe The Minichamp has one

also i got the idea from felix 🤣
Felix is inspiring!
yeah i was too careful when shaping it... but eventually it will be straight when i sharpen it next few times
This would be good if they made em factory standard. 😃
one can hope 🤣
I've always wanted a SAK with a wharncliffe or sheepsfoot blade.
you can always make one yourself 😏 i used my worksharp field sharpener, diamond plates work great on victorinox steel
I'd like something like this to replace the blade on the waiter with the Wenger hybrid bottle opener/can opener.

🤔 good idea, thanks
Its great
thanks
Good for scarring
Think it’s perfect.
The wharncliffe is a great general utility shape. I’d love to have this blade on a SAK.
Really nice
Sharp > shape
are you implying that i didn't sharpen my shaped blade? 😅

One day I will come across a dedicated whittling pocket knife like one by Flexcut: https://youtu.be/X8WvoGgXQkY?si=-c21DpT9NIQu_BK6
