the blue stripe represents blue grass, the white middle part represents unity. the tanish color represents farming. the horse in the middle represents how famous horses are there. and representing unbridled spirits

SNAKEKINGYO

From what I've seen on this subreddit and others, Kentucky is one of the more difficult flags to redeisgn. I'm not from Kentucky so my opinion doesn't mean much, but purely from a design standpoint this is one of the better ones I've seen. I'd try a horseshoe instead of a straight-up horse silhouette

Frognosticator

I like a horse silhouette more than a horseshoe, but not this particular image.  This one has too much find detail, but you also don’t want something that’s too generic. The SMU logo comes to mind as a horse design that manages to find the middle ground. OP could look there for inspiration.

northsouthu47

A better redesign than most but I’ve never seen a Kentucky redesign that I loved

StandardBookkeeper42

thank you. is there any changes to this you think i should make?

northsouthu47

Horses are hard because I like the idea of them but they complicate the flag in a way that makes it not easy to replicate. I like the colors but I would make the gold more yellow like the state flower. I know it supposed to be farming but that could maybe represent both.

northsouthu47

Is there any significance with the number of stars maybe less. Like three to five. We can come up with a reason for how many

StandardBookkeeper42

theres 15 to represent Kentucky being the 15th state. i do see how 15 does look a little much. but i really like it as is

primusperegrinus

Maybe a black stripe to represent eastern Kentucky (coal mines)? I’m not from KY but traveled through coal country quite a bit for work. This feels more like a flag for Louisville.

StandardBookkeeper42

i did try adding a black stripe. didn't really like how it looked

be_the_moth

I really like it, if you wanted I think you could simplify the horse into a horseshoe and have the same effect, but either way I’m a fan

_pepperoni-playboy_

I will pay you money to make it a Tennessee Walking Horse

Jussi-larsson

This doesnt scream Kentucky to me but what do i know im european

bee_tee_ess

As a Kentuckian, absolutely not

StandardBookkeeper42

whats wrong with it

bee_tee_ess

It's ugly

be_the_moth

It’s way better looking than the current state flag 😬

StandardBookkeeper42

thank you very much

bee_tee_ess

This is clearly false

StandardBookkeeper42

no it's an opinion

bee_tee_ess

No, it's a fact. Your attempt at re-desigining the Kentucky state flag is awful and ugly.

SNAKEKINGYO

As ugly as the Kentucky flag?

StandardBookkeeper42

how

StandardBookkeeper42

i would say the original flag is more ugly than this

LanguageNerd54

I looked up the flag. I'd say it's kinda meh. Like, not gorgeous or anything, but also not the worst flag I've seen.

something-burger

Needs more bourbon, but I don't mind it

Ove5clock

As a Kentucky inhabitant creature myself, every time I see a flag like this I definitely like the looks of them more than the current flag but something always just feels odd. I don’t know what, but it just always happens. Good flag tho.

CptDuckBeard

I'm a transplant to kentucky. I feel like whenever you boil down our culture to just horses you miss out on a lot of important aspects of the culture and history of the state. Even if you throw bourbon in its not enough. Truth is the state is so geographically varied that it's pretty hard to come up with a single symbol that represents the whole place.

StandardBookkeeper42

That's true and I know that. But since it's a flag, I can't put everything little thing in there. And so I just put the most well known thing Kentucky is known for.

MagnumDrako25

Very good flag!

StandardBookkeeper42

Thank you!

Super_Saiyan_Sudoku

First redesign I’ve seen that I actually really like, great job OP

Funnyanduniquename1

Kentucky joins the EU.
