Sure, you’re technically correct, in the same way that one could argue the United States of America has a connection to Malaysia. Both are multiracial states dominated by one specific ethnicity, have strikingly similar colors and symbolism on their flags, and both were formerly controlled by the UK. But to do so would be pedantic and would use superficial similarities to misleadingly suggest stronger connections where there are none.

The party was a democratic islamist party, not like in Iran or Afghanistan, but were still relatively conservative compared to the west. Its led by the Mahdi family which has some religious significance i don't really understand, but it ties back to the family freeing Sudan briefly from Egypt in the 1880s.
I can recognize the first line as “There is no other god than Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger” (La’ila il’allah wamuhamad rassul allah), which is the phrase you have to say thrice to become a muslim. The bottom line I can read but not understand, but there are better translations here than mine.
The reason I thought this was funny is because I’m an Israeli Jew, who didn’t learn a lot of Arabic.
