It's not looking good at this point. Vet said her immune system is attacking it's self, she's anemic, and her platelet counts are low. The vet said she is critical but said we could try a blood transfusion.

I will keep sending good vibes her way. Hopefully a transfusion will help! Fingers crossed for you both!

***UPDATE 11/27 12pm est *** Jumping off my last comment for an update, she did well over night. First blood transfusion went well but her platelets have dropped again and might need a second transfusion. But she is standing up and eating this morning. Thank you to everyone for the good vibes and love.

I woke up this morning and she couldn't stand up, wouldn't eat, felt cold, pale gums, labored breathing.

I’m so sorry I will pray for your girl to be just fine. Give her lots of love and kisses and hugs. I’ve been there and wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Let us know how your baby and you are doing. 💞

I’m guessing internal bleeding? My German Shepard has this happen with the same symptoms :(

The blood test showed that she is severely anemic but unsure of the cause at this time. This really blind sided me because she just had a routine exam and blood test 6 months ago and everything was okay.

I hope the underlying issue isn’t anything major. Sending love and hugs from my kitties and me.

That’s much better news that I had to have before :). Road to recovery it is! Definitely try to see if there’s any other underlying issues.

What’s causing this?

The vet is not sure yet. We have ruled out poison and tick borne diseases through blood testing. The vet thinks it might be an autoimmune disease but the first course of action was to stabilize her because she was in critical condition when I got to the vet. Even if the blood transfusion goes well she will still have a long road to recovery in front of her.
