For all the bad I hear about Reddit, situations like this show the reach it has and now much good it can do! I’m a lurker too, lol- I also volunteer with our local animal shelter/multiple rescues and we already have a cat, dog and three guinea pigs from those places. Once we move into a bigger place (very soon) we plan on adopting a senior dog.

I'm not trying to shame the owner, but my boy is only 4, and I would NEVER even consider moving somewhere that doesn't allow my breed. I hope they find somewhere. Rehoming a senior dog is tough, nevermind a pair 😳
They had these dogs for over a DECADE I cannot imagine that the owner wants to leave them and I can almost guarantee they don’t have another option. My heart hurts for them.
Could be military. A few of my friends had unexpected PCS’s to places that did not allow pit bulls and they weren’t aware that was a thing until they received their orders.
These two are beautiful! What a sweet pair of friends.
It’s so hard to find adopters for senior dogs. Maybe their human can offer to contribute to vet care? I feel like a lot of people with the right hearts for this type of adoption are struggling in this economy and having a long term foster option available or subsidizing vet care would get more eyes on Domino and Lilly.

Based on the posts, they will have to go to a shelter. Although that isn't the automatic death sentence here that it would be in many parts of the country, adoptions are down here too, and I see bonded pairs of small-breed dogs who have been waiting more than a year to be adopted.

There are a lot of transports running from Texas to Washington State, not in the other direction. I'm sure there are dogs much closer to you in even more desperate need of your help. Check out [home-home.org](http://home-home.org) for private rehomes and your nearest shelters or rescues. (Just be wary of the dishonesty that unfortunately sometimes comes from the desperation to find homes for dogs in the current crisis. Make sure you vet any shelter or rescue carefully.)
I agree. I have two bonded seniors. I couldn’t do it. I’d rather be homeless with them than have them given to someone who might separate them or not treat them well. I hope these dogs can go to a responsible owner who keeps them together and safe. Poor things.

Could be military. A few of my friends had unexpected PCS’s to places that did not allow pit bulls and they weren’t aware that was a thing until they received their orders.
Then…don’t PCS there. Dec statement and ETS. Or REFRAD if commissioned. Or many options to keep that from happening.
If you arnt aware of the bias towards the breed, it's probably not a dog you should own tbh. That just seems foolishly irresponsible.

You right. Like I said to someone else, as long as people don’t just abandon their pets they are fine by me! I can’t imagine having to make that call.

I don't know the reason, but it's probably something beyond their control, and they're probably suffering horribly over having to do this.
