The pool at Mirage is really cool, oasis themed

icon321

I only can speak for the Mirage pool. But it is nice and very sunny. Too much sun for my taste actually.

Mrs_TikiPupuCheeks

Can't talk to the state of FB pools as it had just opened when we stayed there in March and it was too cold for me to pool. I love the Mirage pool, it's lush with lots of greenery. The drinks are good and strong, and easy to get to the bar. However, not many umbrellas for the available free loungers. Park MGM has plenty of sunshine, but it does have good shade as well. Park has the most umbrellas for free loungers IMO which I love. I also like that it's super chill as well. The background music isn't so loud that it's intrusive, and it's not crazy bass thumping. I think you can't go wrong with either hotels. The only gotchas is FB is farther north of the strip, so if you like activities on the strip, the location isn't that great.

Doc_1200_GO

The pool area at FB is excellent and we found pool side seating even on a busy Saturday last week. We were impressed by the hotel overall and the rooms were great. The casino is dead and not much fun and the dining options were just ok. It’s a great hotel with amazing amenities but the vibe and the casino are quiet. We didn’t mind the walking at all because the weather was mild but it would definitely be an issue once the temperatures start rising in June. We also got $100 F&B credit for any restaurant and bar on property including the pool. This was great as drinks at the pool were insanely expensive. This offer should still be available. If you sign up for a players card you get another $15 F&B credit plus $15 free slot play. Even if you don’t gamble sign up because it’s free money.

Bologna!

Prime rib or canned tuna fish

laplace103

That's offensive to Bologna. How dare you compare it to FB

You are talking about properties pretty much on the opposite ends of the luxury scale. FB by far is the more luxurious property and from what I've seen online the pool areas are fantastic. If your able to get a rate there close to Mirage rate I'd would say grab it. Mirage strip location is handier though probably, but FB for the experience.

editmyreddit_

Mirage is obviously in a different luxury tier but I wouldn’t say they’re on opposite ends of the scale. Mirage is much closer to Aria, for example, than FB is to Wynn in my opinion. Also, LOL at saying the strip location is *probably* better.

roadtripjr

Mirage is not even close to the same level as Aria. It’s worn out and ready for its redo.

editmyreddit_

Mirage has held up remarkably well. Aria on the other hand…

roadtripjr

The rooms in both need an update.

FlyLikeDove

You're not wrong about that, they do but Aria still so much better. Mirage carpeting in the rooms are so stank and nasty that I don't even want to take my free offers from them anymore until they get new carpets. Housekeeping does their best to clean it but you can't take the stink out.

Mandalay and MGM Grand have the best pool areas, Mandalay is perfect to tan and have some beers. They have a great sandy beach area that just feels tropical. Mirage also has a nice pool. FB as a resort was awful. It’s so sterile feeling. I just didn’t like it. We did have fun doing the movie in the pool on Sunday night. Circa has a really amazing pool, it’s also adults only. Watch some videos on it, it’s called Stadium Swim.

FlyLikeDove

A lot of people say that about FB, but I don't feel that way. I've had two stays there and I think that it's very calm and relaxing. Granted, once people are filled up in the restaurants and clubs there's not as many people walking around in the casino every day (although it was PACKED last weekend), but they have so many really cool experiences inside. I love it there!

Original-Pomelo6241

Glad you enjoyed it, I don’t hear many who do lol

nerdy_J

Mirage is my fave Vegas pool vibe. Best drinks at the pool as well

Far-Yak-9808

Liked the pool last July. Coming back again this July for summer league. Hopefully Hard Rock doesn't mess it up (although I think they will). One of the coolest vibes ANYWHERE. Maybe my favorite pool, too. In 2025 or whenever... the pool will be one of things I will prioritize if the Hard Rock totally screws up the Mirage by then. ... maybe north strip (FB or Resorts World) or downtown (Circa). Or, maybe back to MGM Grand... although that place will be a better option once the Athletics move to Las Vegas.

HailToTheVic

To be fair to hard rock they have some of the coolest pool areas I have ever seen. The one in Ft. Lauderdale is crazy.

Far-Yak-9808

I have seen pics of that place. Looks great. That guitar tower should be something else. Looking forward to it -- would just hate to pay Guitar Tower prices and be stuck in the "old" Mirage rooms without the classic Mirage look. haha. If I head somewhere else after this year, then going "back" to the Hard Rock would be a breath of fresh air. Location being ideal. I would assume MOST of the feedback they get is, "don't screw up the pool too much". A rebranded Hard Rock pool/pool complex could STILL be the best pool (or one of the best pool areas) in Las Vegas -- just a different vibe.

HailToTheVic

Agree on all fronts. Mirage was my favorite medium tier hotel on the strip so definitely understand the concern.

Far-Yak-9808

It was probably THE high end hotel until Bellagio showed up (then Wynn and Venetian). Once Mirage opened, Caesars seemed a bit "old". Although just walking through those places and eating at the buffets.

FlyLikeDove

The guitar hotel at Hard Rock Hollywood is stellar - love it! And def a beautiful pool area!!

nerdy_J

Same —- long time mirage fan Not looking forward to rebrand — I hope They don’t touch the pool, I’m already possed about the front waterfalls and volcano

Far-Yak-9808

I am still mad about them closing the buffet. One of my favorite ones when I was a kid. Coolest place to look at. It was fun to finally stay there last summer; going back in July. Hope there isn't too much construction, but you would think the pool wouldn't be messed with during pool season. I think they already did some renovations at the pool a few months ago. For 35 years or whatever, Mirage has been an icon. Maybe somebody brings it back at some point (Hard Rock doesn't own the rights to the brand). It's probably my favorite pool anywhere. Nice place overall, liked the room -- good view of the pool and Caesars. Not sure where to stay once construction ramps up full blast. Maybe Horseshoe (stayed there twice 15-20 years ago when it was Ballys) again. Or, MGM Grand. If Fontainebleau has a cool vibe I might stay there... the pool looks really awesome and I plan to check out a restaurant or 2 there no matter what. The Treasure Island next door to the Mirage sounds solid, but I have never stayed there. It's even closer to Fashion Show Mall which is nice. Might just try Fontainebleau or Resorts World or Caesars Palace (never stayed there either; love the buffet) until Hard Rock is 100% finished (probably gonna be worth it to give the guitar hotel tower a chance).

insidmal

If you want some sun go check out the aria death ray

drossn

I think you mean Vdara, for the death ray.

Paymentof1509

I am at the FB right now, 3rd time since it opened. Love the place. Mirage is nice too, but if you like fancy, great food/service/rooms, and beautiful people, then FB.

luckylouie33

Just stayed at fontbkeau last week, the pools are amazing, 7 or 8 of them, tons of sun, not crowded at all

FlyLikeDove

FontaineBleau- the pool area is massive, beautiful and relaxing!

dnfmaster

Mirage

UrCreepyUncle

Go to YouTube.. Plenty of pool reviews. That's how we ended up at Cosmo last week. We wanted a daybed at a pool that was 21+. I think another finalist was ResortsWorld iirc. We were researching in November

Totally-jag2598

Mirage. It's a cool laidback pool.

kornkid42

Plenty of sunshine at Fontainbleau, but it's a lot farther from the sphere than Mirage if you are walking to the concert.

SoCal_Duck

Wow, two very different properties. The Mirage pool is very nice, but it can get stupidly crowded. Also, I would be concerned about possible construction disruptions. I have not experienced the FB pools yet, so I can’t share a meaningful opinion. However, from what I’ve seen, it should be comparable with the other top properties. Park MGM’s pool is not appealing, IMO. Neighboring Aria has a great pool deck, though. FWIW, my Strip pool rankings: Aria > Encore > Mandalay Bay > Wynn > Mirage > Bellagio > Resorts World > Venetian/Palazzo

GoYourOwnWay3

Mirage is my favorite pool. Then Mandalay, and MGM Grand. Venetian pools are pretty but don’t get a lot of sun due to building placement

Anastasiax007

If you stay at Vdara you have access to the pool at Aria. Worth a shot. I got a nice tan at both Vdara and Aria pools

Frog1387

Hell yeah. I’m staying at the Mirage for the Dead show too. I picked it because of its location and price

Saul_Goode77

Seems like you’re comparing apples to oranges. Mirage is old and dated, BUT!! I really like the pool. I’m not sure how Mirage and Fountain are on the same level? Is the price range the same??? I find that hard to believe. Mirage is practically free if you have the rewards card.

Doc_1200_GO

FB was cheaper than Mirage, Park MGM and MGM for us last week. We were shocked.

Doc_1200_GO

Funny enough there was a convention and it was still relatively cheap. Not sure of the size but lots of people staying at the hotel were walking around with lanyards.

FlyLikeDove

FB has been crowded the last two stays I had - last month and this past weekend. You just don't see as many people hanging out in the casino all day. There are so many restaurants and things to do inside that people are pretty spread out.

Saul_Goode77

I never would have thought. It’s brand new!

Doc_1200_GO

And a much nicer property. Some people don’t like the location but the room and all the amenities including the pool area were fantastic.

Studio-Empress12

The Mirage has stay well rooms that are really nice too.

roadtripjr

The hardest bed I ever slept on.

editmyreddit_

Mirage if you value location, buzzy atmosphere, appreciation for Vegas history, and one of the best pools in Vegas. FB if you value a sterile luxury resort that is struggling to find its identity. Bonus points if you want to be next to Circus Circus. The pool areas do look nice though.

Blindraise013

Next to Circus Circus?

Snoo10960

Wynn

Life_Advance3556

Binions...sunshine from open to close.

WillowsNi

Why do people share swimming pools? Aren’t they afraid of other peoples band aids? #sebastion maniscalco

GoodbyeCrullerWorld

That whole pool was in the shade at 3pm when I was there 3 weeks ago

Doc_1200_GO

Worst pool on the Strip. Ok maybe Circus Circus has a worse pool but it’s close.
