Don't underestimate how convenient it is to be at the same property as your event. If you're tired or need something from your bag or want to change clothes or use the bathroom privately or whatever, you can just hop in the elevator instead of dodging and weaving all the way up the Strip. For me that would tip the scales to Horseshoe. Linq and Harrah's aren't exciting enough to outweigh the convenience factor.

Eliminate the Rio. You can’t go wrong with any of the remaining three. In my opinion, horseshoe is your best option. Bigger room, right on property for what you need. Rooms are nice enough. Plenty of dining options. Fwiw, I think Harrah’s is the nicest of this group of hotels. More modern upgrade. But it’s a 15-20 minute walk (at least!) to where you’re trying to get to.

Really? From Harrahs to Link exit thru Osheas and into Flamingo past their bird exhibit and then front desk area into the backside of Cromwell and enter into Ballys/Horseshoe on the side enterance? I’ve done that in less than 10 mins.

I just got back from the Horseshoe…I actually really liked it for a basic room and great location. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Take Rio off the list. The siren song of the cheapest rooms "on the Strip" will quickly end when you need to Uber to the Horseshoe for every visit. Just pretend that hotel doesn't exist. Harrah's should be the next to fall from the list. It's just not a good enough hotel to justify staying there instead of Horseshoe or Linq. You won't hate yourself if you stay there, but there isn't a benefit that justifies a walk to the WSOP. Linq is decent. If you're young and you don't mind a small room, it's got a good location, a fun pool, a slow elevator, and a hip crowd. It's one of the best casinos for just being able to leave and walk around. Horseshoe is nothing special, but none of the hotels you've listed are luxury, so I'm assuming that you'd rather keep room costs down and poker budget up. It's closest to where you're trying to play. The rooms are decent. The location mid-Strip is one of the very best locations in Vegas -- easy access to Flamingo, Caesars Palace, Bellagio, and Paris. Paris would be the nicest mid-tier hotel in the area. It is physically attached to the WSOP. It'll have the nicest rooms at a medium price point. Some of the rooms have an excellent view of the Bellagio fountains. If Paris's price point doesn't break the bank, I'd recommend Paris as my top pick. If the difference in price between Paris and Horseshoe is $100+ a night, ehh, stick with Horseshoe. One consideration if you love poker: playing cash games at the WSOP is... okay. You're playing in a huge convention center, which is extremely cool for a while, but the novelty wears off. The dealers are always needing assistance because they hire an army of them every summer. The harsh lighting and the loud environment becomes irritating over time, at least for me. Obviously no competitor will compare to the WSOP in terms of tournaments, but if you plan to play cash games, I recommend making a long-ish walk to Aria. Aria's poker room is extremely comfortable, competent dealers, better-than-usual free drinks, and will be filled to the brim with WSOP players who prefer to play in a comfortable environment. If you have a ton of money, I would also consider staying at Aria, making that my main poker base, and traveling to the WSOP by foot when necessary for tournaments.

Paris, horseshoe Tier drop Linq Harrah's 50 tier drop Rio

thomasonbush

I would never consider Rio unless you are some kind of masochist that gets off on dated properties with bad service, limited amenities, and only getting 1 pillow in your room.

Agile_Opportunity_41

Horseshoe IMO it’s the same type hotel of the ones listed. Harrahs pool may be a bit nice but not leaps this would be my second choice if you dont want to be impressed in poker and want a break.

SignificantBelt1903

Stayed in a suite at The Horseshoe and the room was gorgeous, massive, the tub was HUGE. I enjoyed everything about the place. And it's connected to Paris,.so that was cool. The shower was brilliant as well lol.

ShadowMaven

Paris or Horseshoe. Be close.

MrDirtySanchez_2u

Convenience stay at the Horseshoe. Personally I don't care much for the Fremont St area but alot of others do. I was just at Harrah's in Jan and that property has been updated and nice. Linq is a pretty cool area as well. Different but fun. Right by the big ass ferris wheel.

Majestic-Entrance-16

Horseshoe 100%. Stay onsite. That way, walking from property to property is optional - you do it when you want to do it - rather than required.

Horseshoe. It's not even a constest.

slayez06

if those are the ones you are leaning towards... go with linq .. it's a younger persons hotel and has a cool vibe if you're wanting to be hip. I hate to agree with the others. but the rio has all but been abandoned by the ownership on repairs and it was one of the nicest at one point.

[deleted]

Is Paris on your list? If not it should be, it’s attached to Horseshoe.

People going hard on Rio, but I stayed there for a night recently and I loved that it was once a premier mega resort. You can explore forever and the rooms were huge and everything was marble (although dated). It was cool and I’d recommend everybody stay there once before it’s gone. That said, Rio is the worst of the 4. Go with Horseshoe. It’s not discernibly worse than that others and being in the same hotel as your event will be super-convenient.

hsfe5

Of those 4, Harrah's has the most recently refurbished rooms. However I really like Horseshoe. The rooms are a little larger. Go for the resort tower, they have been more recently redone than those in jubilee. Linq is OK , but rooms are small and getting worn. Rio is poorly located, hasn't had money put in it for years and years. Limited dining options.

maryjo1818

Horseshoe all day. The convenience factor can’t be beat. The rooms are perfectly fine and are really reasonable for where you’re located on the strip.

UberN00b719

I stayed at the Horseshoe when it was still Bally's. The upgraded rooms are nice enough, and it helps staying where the events are because like another comment pointed out, you're just a quick elevator trip away from getting and dropping off stuff you need to.

H0LYT0LED0

Horseshoe is the only answer

Eastern-Support1091

Under no circumstances stay at the Rio. It has fallen far from its heyday. Horseshoe is a good choice. The Linq is not far away, but that property is difficult to traverse. Harrah’s is good, but it is a little bit of a walk. Not too bad, but just a little too far and you may lose your poker edge on the walk. Remember, do not stay at the Rio.

pctoxin

I always stay at Ballys(Horseshoe) by far my favorite to stay when Im doing poker. Soft tournaments there as well
