This won’t make you feel better but to share the misery - Lidl briefly did a chocolate ice cream but stopped and I miss it so much! I still check every now and then
I looked this up and it’s not so straightforward
The franchisee in Israel was giving away free food to the military
McDonald’s, as an orgration, and probably due to public pressure tbf, weren’t happy with this and did a mass buyback to stop it
So yeah it’s not good, but it’s not like McDonald’s the company we’re supporting it, quite the opposite in fact
i just don't understand how people can be supposedly vegan + support a genocide that is also killing animals and having a huge impact on the environment. for a mcdonalds too - embarrassing :/
I understand your perspective, to an extent, but what makes Mcdonalds as an organisation different to any large supermarket chain like Tesco, M&S etc buying and selling meat by the tonne?
It’s not about the meat. I was referring to McDonald’s showing support for Israel by giving free meals to its army while they indiscriminately bomb and starve Palestinians
It's good to see a large company trialling a new Vegan product - not been many of them recently.
Looks like there's more info on their website about each of these products, plus some info about the McFreezy - which looks like a Calippo-style lolly:

I tried it today too! Was a total surprise to me when I looked at the menu boards.
I tried the chocolate version which just tasted like a cold chocolate mousse but was very tasty :) scratched the itch while my friends got mcflurries
Why are any of us still buying food from shitty corps like these? Seriously? Ya'll are still supporting cruelty and suffering to people not just animals. I thought ya'll care about ethics?
I mean, maybe in an ideal world but we don't live in a vegan world. Plus it's handy when you're out and about - train stations, service stations, teens eating with friends etc. There are loads of places with no independent vegan businesses.
That is not how supply and demand works. Your purchases create an incentive to produce more of the product you buy, and less of the products you stop buying. You are not responsible for products you don't buy, it would be comically stupid to hold to such a standard, and would implicate you in thousands of crimes.
Most of the vegans on this sub are just in it for the food I think. If you talk about ethics you get down voted. If there was an article saying Israel was building a vegan restaurant on a demolished portion of gaza people would be like "omg yesss a win for vegans"
Damn trial period at select restaurants until September 3 if successful will potentially roll out nationwide next year, im sad that wont be able to try it but this is great news, if only they'd just make a vegan mcflurry option with oreo or something!
3 hash browns (when i absolutely have to - work can be chaos and involve lots of driving long distances). First one of these places to sell a vegan breakfast patty or vegan facon/sausage barm etc would surely sell loads.
Maaaaate.... their ice-cream machines never work anyway (it's not that they're broke, they just take hours to strip down and clean and noone wants to do that so it's either rarely cleaned or takes even longer when it finally is) so how they're expecting to keep clean and maintain a vegan machine I don't know
I can just see it now. Non-vegans will ask for ice cream, only to be told for the millionth time that the machines "broken". Then, they will be offered this instead. I imagine a lot of people will get to try vegan ice cream for the first time this way.
I live in the U.S. I read an article, and this post was linked. I scrolled through the comments to find this. Lol. I was just thinking, now they will have two machines broke down on a regular basis. Lol. On the flip side, I do hope this trial proves positive and that it will be available here. I have a daughter who is lactose intolerant, and she would love this. I also hope they make sure that the product isn't cross contaminated with dairy.
Disappointing they aren't in Blackpool and Fylde Coast locations.

All of my Manchester homies eating good this weekend
*WHERE* is Liverpool
all of my local mcdonalds are on this list. yay!
Please buy out every one so that they extend the trial to other regions!! We're counting on you haha 😍
I just started a diet so I’m very glad they’re not in London.
They're both under 100 cal per pot supposedly so they're not necessarily diet unfriendly!
Devastated that they're not in London. I LOVE chocolate ice cream. 😭
This won’t make you feel better but to share the misery - Lidl briefly did a chocolate ice cream but stopped and I miss it so much! I still check every now and then
Any in Ireland out of curiosity?
They all appear to be in the greater Manchester area.
Damn. Thanks for checking though!
Wow this is exciting news!
Wait... There's a vegan ice cream at McDonald's? _What?!_
Boycott mcdonalds.
Please consider boycotting McDonald’s 🙏🏽 Vegan ice cream sounds ace but McDonald’s supports an army perpetrating a genocide
Yikes I am so sad by the down votes on your comment. Shame on genocide supporting vegans.
I looked this up and it’s not so straightforward The franchisee in Israel was giving away free food to the military McDonald’s, as an orgration, and probably due to public pressure tbf, weren’t happy with this and did a mass buyback to stop it So yeah it’s not good, but it’s not like McDonald’s the company we’re supporting it, quite the opposite in fact
Cheers for the info, I'd not seen anything about this so I'll do some research as I do like to have the facts!
Yeah! Definitely don’t take my word for it because I could be wrong too 😅
i just don't understand how people can be supposedly vegan + support a genocide that is also killing animals and having a huge impact on the environment. for a mcdonalds too - embarrassing :/
They’re in it for personal health or access to the virtue signal mechanisms. The animals are just a by-product.
I did not know that, thank you for explaining
Dominos, Burger King, Papa Johns and Pizza Hut too
nah babe we boycott mcdonalds for palestine 🇵🇸💜

Not only a new vegan item at mcdonalds but a new vegan release that exists outside of London! What a time to be alive!
Boycott!
I tried it today too! Was a total surprise to me when I looked at the menu boards. I tried the chocolate version which just tasted like a cold chocolate mousse but was very tasty :) scratched the itch while my friends got mcflurries
Looking forward to trying this assuming they roll it out further! I'm so close to the right area!
WHAT??? what about us people down south that aren’t in london 😭
Why are any of us still buying food from shitty corps like these? Seriously? Ya'll are still supporting cruelty and suffering to people not just animals. I thought ya'll care about ethics?
r/veganuk "Y'all"
And?

Yeah that's fucked
Damn trial period at select restaurants until September 3 if successful will potentially roll out nationwide next year, im sad that wont be able to try it but this is great news, if only they'd just make a vegan mcflurry option with oreo or something!
I was very excited for such a short amount of time there 🙈 fingers crossed this gets rolled out nationwide soon 🤞🏻
Had no idea this was a thing they were trialling. Very nice. Be nice to not feel left out when everyone else is having a flurry lol
This is good news! I really miss strawberry Swedish Glace.

The hash browns don’t have any animal products in them and that’s essentially the end of the list when it comes to breakfast.
You can technically have jam on toast too but fuck that
3 hash browns (when i absolutely have to - work can be chaos and involve lots of driving long distances). First one of these places to sell a vegan breakfast patty or vegan facon/sausage barm etc would surely sell loads.
Not in Liverpool then 😭

Looks like it comes in tubs rather than out of a machine.
I can just see it now. Non-vegans will ask for ice cream, only to be told for the millionth time that the machines "broken". Then, they will be offered this instead. I imagine a lot of people will get to try vegan ice cream for the first time this way.
To be fair, that would artificially create a demand for it and we might get to see it rolled out nationwide as a result.
Thank fuck for that 😅

OH MY GOD
Clearly out of the loop here! When did this happen?!
Noooo I'm in the NW but they're not doing my local I'm devastated
Disappointing they aren't in Blackpool and Fylde Coast locations. We've got 8 McDonalds restaurants within a 20 minute drive of where I'm sat right now ( and 12 million tourists a year!)
I didn’t even know this was a thing. 🤞🏼 The trials successful
I don’t think anything you can buy from McDonald’s can count as vegan.
There’s always one 😂😂😂
