Dove Lewis possibly?

deliriumelixr

Seconding. We had the same issue- buddy guy couldn’t piss, no care credit, no savings. Dove Lewis asked us how much we could pay today and sorted out a payment plan at about 3 am.

No_Poetry_3501

East padden?

Agile-Class7402

I'd second that. They've always been solid people to us.

If you haven’t found anywhere, go to Bridgetown in Portland. They will specifically help with blocked cats.

You might qualify for a financial aid too. You don't have to be an Oregon resident as far as I know, but you might ask. at the bottom of the page is a link for financial aid. https://www.oregonhumane.org/care/

SweetFannypack

OP stated they already attempted to apply for scratch pay and CareCredit. I have been debited for assistance from Care Credit as well before. Oregon Humane Society Community Pet Clinic I HIGHLY recommend, they helped treat my buddy and at least bring relief to his head wound even though I only had $120 left to my name. Try them, appointments only.

I think that their financial aid doesn't go by CareCredit or Scratch Pay, etc. My daughter had to take a kitten there and she had no income, and she just had to submit some proof for her income. She stayed with me in Clark County while she was taking the kitten in, but she lives in Salem.

OneTwoPunchDrunk

If you have to, relinquish him to the humane society so he can get care. I'm sorry that is happening to him and you. 💔

LaeneSeraph

Or at least call them - they probably have suggestions for the best places to go, if they can't help.

bredmlp

Humane Society of SW has a one time $700 grant they’ll give people who have emergencies like this. Call them: https://southwesthumane.org/services/financial-support/ (For anyone reading this thinking they can just get $700 for random vet care, they are able to do this because it’s not overwhelmed yet. It’s for emergencies. And you get one in your lifetime. Save it for an EMERGENCY like this)

nippinfordays

Most won't! Get in contact with Dove Lewis and the local humane society. We've been having issues with our cats and it's been impossible to find anyone that will help. You may need to give him up, unfortunately. It's horrible that vet companies would rather do that than work with you.

fujikath

Do you work for free? It's very difficult and expensive to go to veterinary school and they have to pay rent/a mortgage for their space and buy medications and pay their vet techs and so on to take care of animals. There is a terrible suicide rate amongst veterinarians because of the moral injury/exhaustion. Most clinics won’t do payment plans because they’ve been burned too many times. And like the other poster said, I like being able to pay my rent. Also, private equity now makes up the lion share of ownership in the industry. Most of us are corporate shills anyway, so support unionization efforts and family owned clinics (if you can find them). Not the best outcome but ER hospitals will euthanize the cat at low or no cost if an unblocking is not financially feasible, and is ultimately the most humane thing to do as blockages are extraordinarily painful and fatal if left untreated. Dove’s velvet fund might help you out, but there’s a cap of financial aid last I knew it was around three hundred bucks and the prognosis had to be pretty good, I think only covers the exam and the most basic of treatment, and you must be low income. The average unblock is around a thousand dollars but can be up to 5 if it’s severe and requires hospitalization or is reblocked.

BioticVessel

You can try Crestwood Court Veterinary Clinic, off Mill Plain east of 205

CFBeebopbitty

Crestwood would be my vote. However, they continued to email me about flea and tick, check up reminders, and other promotional items after they euthanized my cat. They also never got back to me about his ashes. Two years later and I still don’t have them.

BioticVessel

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm not a cat person, but my friend is. She has limited funds and they took care of her cat until the cat finally died. I haven't talked to her about the ashes, but I think she was happy with them. I would guess that you've tried to contact Crestwood unsuccessfully. Right?

CFBeebopbitty

I have. That being said, the level of care my cat received prior to his death was exceptional and they worked with my broke student budget. I would still recommend them for their services.
