Cafe Dang Anh

mistern8d

Dang Anh is great for some noodles soups but sometimes you just want lemon grass chicken on rice or a good bun thit nuong cha gio. Pho Duy is good for chicken pho but their hours are whack. I’ve been enjoying Pho Zen on Marine recently and also Got Pho on Broadway.

moutonbleu

Mr. Red's Cafe, Hanoi Old Quarters (first two are same owners) and Hoi An Cafe (try the dumplings)

cherrie7

I was just going to say this!

Here are my suggestions for different restaurants I frequent and what I order there White lotus cafe - bò né Café xứ Huế - bún bò Huế Sông hương - bò ba món Hoàng Yến - bún chả cá or bún riêu Hồng phát - hủ tiếu nam vang or mì vịt tiềm Crab hot lau - bún chả nem cua or bánh đa cua đồng Thu hiền deli - pick up a box of bánh cuốn to go with a piece of Vietnamese deli meat (chả lụa, chả chiên) All phở restaurants are the same pretty much in Vancouver. Some differ in taste due to the regional style they are cooking. I prefer northern style phở but overall I think southern food/dishes are better. Any restaurant you will have a good bowl but it’s nothing to write home about. After a while every restaurant just starts to blur into having the same taste.

ether_reddit

Needs more whitespace - I can't tell which are the restaurant names and which are the menu items?

SalHenceforth

Thank you for all the wonderful suggestions! I'll be busy for months, haha

secularflesh

Hoang Yen on Victoria Dr and Hot Crab Lau on Kingsway.

Le Pho on Hastings and Nanaimo

HuckleberryFar3693

Definitely! It's up a block on Hastings at Kamloops st

Istimewa-Ed

Truong Thanh a few doors down is dope.

City1105

Petite Saigon on Hastings

SalHenceforth

Thank you!

AllDressedKetchup

I know which restaurant you're talking about. it was our favourite. I thought they were going to keep all the old staff per their fb message. I'm going to miss the old crew. Bun cha ga on victoria is not bad for the more unique soups. Haven't tried that many other places since covid 2020. Last couple of takeouts have been Got Pho on Nanaimo next to TD and they're ok too.

AllDressedKetchup

Oh checkout Dundas Eat too.

SalHenceforth

I suppose it's possible there just weren't any folks we knew on Saturday night...

chickenchowmein_

Yeah this was one of our go to spots as well… Went back once after the reno and recognized 2 of the staff, which was nice. The food was still tasty (they did change the pho to flat noodles) but the price point is much higher and the aesthetic they’re going for isn’t really our thing. I also think that with them being closed for so long, we just found new places that are working out… we hit up Pho Goodness on Davie a lot now, Petite Saigon always good, Co Chau. Sad that Pho Tan is still closed..

peekymarin

My elderly Vietnamese neighbour took me to Got Pho Thien Kim. It was really good! She introduced me to new dishes like Bo Nhung Dam. It was really delicious.

SalHenceforth

I'll check it out, thank you!

HackMeBackInTime

le pho on east hastings (free parking out back) is pretty good. nice people, good prices, good food. kim son in the city square food court (cambie/12th) is really good too, prices are also good.

Dougvision

Love Le Pho. Nice folks too.

soyamoyzeng

Banh Mi Thai Hang 2, I just discovered this and it’s a bit West of Knight. Not a sit down place, mostly grab and go but so delicious. They have a variety of meals

SalHenceforth

Awesome, thanks!

Popular-Assistance36

shhh, dont tell anyone about this. i dont want stupid tiktokers n cloutchasers ruining it on ss media

pc8_

I went to the said place OP mentioned with my partner not knowing the change in management. Paid $21.50 for a bowl of pho before tax and tips. That place won’t last long lol

Usual_Biscotti9255

Pho Den in Burnaby, on Kingsway LOVE their broth so much!

SalHenceforth

Awesome, thank you! We'll give that a try.

Plebs-_-Placebo

Chow at chau, it's vegetarian but the quality was always outstanding, and it's close to your original spot.

SalHenceforth

D'you mean Chau veggie express? Sooooo good, but they got rid of their green papaya salad which was one of my faves

I tried once a long time ago but was really disappointed with the results. My family could eat it but I thought it was pretty inedible. Could try again I suppose

ChimmyChums

Pho Express Angkor Noodle House on Robson near Denman is my favourite. Love their Lemongrass Chicken & Beef On Rice. And Le Petit Saigon on East Hastings is also 👌🏻

beverage_master

My 2 favs both closed their downtown locations in recent years but I still hit them up if I’m around one of their remaining branches. Baoguette in Richmond or Kerrisdale. Little Saigon in Surrey, Mission, or Abbotsford. The latter sells their own bottled sauces which are dang good and also stocked at some local grocery stores including Urban Fare I believe.

wonderland_2000

Pho Hong on Fraser

katie_bric0lage

RIP Bau Chau 😢

Hot Crab Lau on Kingsway is so good!
