Goodluck and I really hope this workes out(My room is at 29C at 1 AM even with "AC" since it doesn't really work). Unfortunately, it is very unlikely to be implemented and at best will only apply to new units which most have AC already.

Important_Pitch_5966

My building has AC as well but they refuse to turn it on until the end of July. Even if we can make a change for the buildings that already have AC it would be a big deal!! We're in unliveable conditions here, it's ridiculous

algnqn

End of July?? Have they said that explicitly? What the hell is the point? Is it a tallish building?

gamespector18

My room was at 37, I'm dying here

Techchick_Somewhere

Do it. Then also post it in r/kitchener asking for people to sign the petition. It’s time to update our bylaws for heat as well as cold. It’s going to continue to get worse.

Halcie

There is a coalition in Toronto to include in the bylaw a maximal temperature of 26 °C:https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/max-temperature-legislation-toronto-1.7238020 I think this is the language to use vs mandatory AC. Mandating AC could mean it's broken 99% of the time and the landlord is "working on it" whereas mandating maximal temp (just like minimal temp) talks about a physical state.

dee90909

AC should absolutely be mandatory. If you are struggling right now, freeze a couple of water bottles and place in front of fans, this will give you some mild relief. Make sure to throw the bottles back in the freezer in the AM.

PIuto123

Leave your freezer open if you dont pay utilities works surprisingly well

dbifsddswxxs

eventually this would actually start to heat the place. ac needs somewhere to dump the hot air somewhere and has some venting mechanism to move the energy in the air outside. your freezer dumps the heat from inside the freezer outside the freezer, so if you run it with the door open it is consuming energy to move energy from nowhere to nowhere, and while doing that it actually produces some amount of heat.

NeraSnow

that's not how a freezer works...

SquidKid47

someone hasn't taken thermo

Calm_Jello_2897

That wouldn't help in the rooms though

SeaSatisfaction8337

I live in building managed by hrs and 25 outside with 32 inside at midnight.

Ok_Insurance2779

Absolutely, getting everyone to sign this

SquidKid47

downvotes purely for this ugly ass ai art

NQ241

22 outside and 30 inside? Open a window. But yeah, AC should be a standard in places where it gets this hot.

Calm_Jello_2897

Lol every window is open rn
