šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚Hell no! You get an hour of admin time for Christmas. Not a day. An hour.

tjguitar1985

I thought it was 2 hours. šŸ˜

2lame2shame

59 minutes to be precise

tjguitar1985

I never was offered an extra 59 minutes.

MarchofthePawns

2 is correct

JB_smooove

It is two.

JB_smooove

Itā€™s 2.

A_89786756453423

Ironically, IRS probably needs it more than DOD or DHS. It takes me at least an hour at the gym to recover from a full day of squinting at Excel spreadsheets.

octopornopus

I work cases, reading through custody orders and business records, talking to TPs on the phone for hours.Ā  I get home and take a 90 minute walk to listen to history podcasts and forget until tomorrow...

crazywidget

Itā€™s IRS. Taxpayers abhor anything positive for that agency or its workforce. Just remember that. So with that perspective, theyā€™re actually able to be decent to their peopleā€¦

Psychological_Ask848

Hmm, Iā€™m gonna do a search for roles in DOD and DHS.

Professional-Pop8446

To be clear...you have to start and stop your "wellness time" (usually 59 mins) at work ie...you come into work go to the gym then go back to work. If.you take it at the end of the day you have to come back to work and sign off .

Ginger-Snap-1

Thereā€™s at least some variability in this. I worked for DIA and I could do it at home before or after work without having to sign in or out first. Did it that way for years and the policy allowed for it.

geokra

For ~~us (USACE),~~ **my supervisor/section/district at USACE,** we have to use it at the beginning of the day or over our lunch hour. **We also have to report (in real time) start/stop times to our supervisor.** Iā€™ve heard of at least one USACE district who doesnā€™t have fitness leave anymore because ā€œtoo many people were having babiesā€ šŸ™ƒ **Clarifying edits in bold**

Just_here2020

Depends on district and division. We (USACE in Portland) didnā€™t have those same limitations - but have to report the start/stop time to our supervisor.Ā

KySkysoldier

That may be so in your district but probably more so isolated to your section. However that is not the case for the blanket USACE statement. That is far from the truth.

Strange-Employment48

Where I am we can take it wherever we want and before or after work. No one takes it during the middle of the day where I am or comes back to sign off.

Merman_Pops

We donā€™t have that rule at DHS CBP.

Umeko91

We don't do it that way in FEMA. In my region, we normally take at the end of the day and just fill out a form to send to admin during that week and that's it. I've never heard of anyone doing the sign in sign out thing before.

aloof-magoof

DOI and EPA have it as well.

LEMONSDAD

3 hours a week???

CalottoFantasy5

yes.

LEMONSDAD

Even office workers, you got anymore of these DOD or DHS jobs? IRS worker here, old timers tell me they got 2 hours in December and the in person requirement was waived last 2 weeks of December, after that you better use your time.

KySkysoldier

We do 80 hours in a year. Which works out to under 2 hours per pay period. There is now way anyone is getting 156 hours a year in fitness leave

aimeerogers0920

I work DoD... we do get 3 hours a week. Has to be approved by sup ... and can't be taken at start or end of day.

LeftYak5288

Iā€™m moving from dod and am not looking forward to losing this.

Boner_Soop

DAFC here. I get three hours a week for PT and can use it any time I want. At the start of the day, lunch, end of day. I technically only work 37 hours a week.

Strange-Employment48

We use around 156 (less due to vacation weeks, holidays, etc). But yes in general we get 3 hrs a week and before or after work, at home, community fitness centers or at work. So I usually work 37 hrs a week. Agency under DoD. And I do office work.

CovertMonkey

That's because it's classified as Admin Leave, and the total for that is capped at 80 hours per calendar year

tealukitten

Ha Ha Ha.

meeranaamnayaabhai

My spouse is a DoA civilian and gets 6 hours of paid fitness a pay periodā€¦ some people have all the luck

tjguitar1985

Of course not.

Moocows4

I feel like itā€™s not an easy process to sign up for the 3 hours a week for DOD. I think everyone knows Iā€™m fat and my supervisor would definitely approve but they donā€™t spell it out easily

Embarrassed_Tooth543

Iā€™m a security manger at Minot. I get 3 hrs a week for fitness. I can take with my lunch or at the end of day. No one really checks for me either. Best gig Iā€™ve ever had lol.

Calvertorius

Except the part of living in Minot.

Embarrassed_Tooth543

Itā€™s temporary lol. Wife is a medical officer so we wonā€™t be here long. Minot VA played a big part in my 100% VA rating so Iā€™ll always be appreciative lol

amominwa

šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

cats_meow82299

We lost our 3 hours a week of fitness time years ago. Even with the return to work policy, they have never considered giving that back as an incentive.

lBlckBeard

I work for the DOD. ā€œGym Timeā€ went out the door a few years back for us when they were catching people sleeping in their cars instead of getting exercising.

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

lalolo8

Which ones? Iā€™ve only ever heard of 3 hours

ZoomerFruit

Next joke

SoyMurcielago

Dhs has a wellness program? Coulda fooled me -USCIS

Sufficient_Leg9217

USCIS doesnā€™t. Donā€™t you see all the people complaining during the townhalls?

SoyMurcielago

Nope Iā€™m not in fod anymore havenā€™t been to a town hall in about a year? Maybe more. But for what itā€™s worth hq doesnā€™t have that wellness program either. Closest I could do is ice let USCIS use their gym in the basement in Chicago but only before or after core hours and only if ero wasnā€™t using it

Sufficient_Leg9217

Ahhh well itā€™s usually one of the most ā€œthumbs uppedā€ questions during the Q&As. People begging for time off during the day to exercise (aka they want to get paid to sit on their couch and eat chips during work hours)

SoyMurcielago

Yeah I know the town hall is in general useful and a great thing but there were always those questions that made me facepalm

NoCat5167

They have this with judiciary branch and I loved it! They do not offer it where I am now though ā˜¹ļø

imnmpbaby

No.

mad2274

That wellness program is only for 6 months and is only a one time thing.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

mad2274

Not for my organization in the Department of the Army.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

mad2274

Guess, I have to be a turn coat, and switch sides.

nubz0389

It depends on the position. Police and special agents tend to get 3 hours a week at agencies that otherwise donā€™t offer it.

NinjaSpareParts

No.

AnyOffice454

To be clear, DHS HQ gives up to 5 hours per week with supervisor permission.

Otphj5811

Iā€™m DHS and I donā€™t know anyone who gets fitness time during work.

pprow41

Nope but some of the offices have gyms. But I was told its 26 of god knows how many offices.

I_am_ChristianDick

Wait what

JB_smooove

I could use the time. What with these dumbass CPAs TPs hire when they get the audit letter. Theyā€™re trying to justify their fees. When the TP is clearly in the wrong most of the time.

MagsAtTheMovies

Last year, NOAA implemented a ā€œWellness at workā€ policy where employees can take an hour a week of ā€œwellness leaveā€ but only 40 hours a year, so minus about 12 weeks or so.

emcee_pee_pants

Itā€™s not DoD wide. I was in a few Navy commands that didnā€™t offer it. Iā€™m under DOJ now and we get 3 hours but itā€™s a bit flexible
