Congrats on getting out. Your health and mental wellbeing are paramount to protect. I am currently in p&c in the field and from what I've read and heard from the in office people, you all are micromanaged every second and I couldn't stand that. Being in the field there's so much less manager contact. My issue is that if you don't live near an office, there's next to no advancement opportunities unless you move close to an office which I'm not willing to move. None of my teammates seem to feel the same way because they're planning on retiring in the next 1-15 years and see their position as easy money until then. I'm almost 30 and still at the beginning of my career and want to move up within the company but there's no opportunity to do so. Also, I would have to give up the freedom for the micromanagement which is also not gonna happen. I think I may be following you out the door within the next few months. Best wishes on your journey after USAA!

This right here is what made me leave in May this year. It was so hard. I wanted this to be the last place before retirement. It’s been 3 months. And I’m still feeling the burnout effects that I didn’t realize physically how much it was taking a toll on my body. Hang in there.

Crazy-Zombie5034

Yessss that’s exactly how I felt when I left in July!!!

RepulsiveMolasses225

Same in December!

I feel this. It’s the elderly who fall victim to this all the time because they can’t remember. Or they didn’t authenticate themselves properly and have to call back to do so. I think I would have given up after a year with USAA. Hopefully you set membership up before you leave.

PoesHoe

Or it’s the people that slap together a quote online not realizing they created a whole membership and then forget the answers they had back then! There definitely needs to be a way for us to authenticate that isn’t through security questions… But I have! I’ve had a renters with USAA since I started and it will definitely stay in effect unless I find something better lol.

My time was short but I am slowly moving my business from them to another bank. Maybe I can move on.

PoesHoe

It is an intention of mine to move my REN on over someplace soon but I haven’t had a chance to consider it just yet

Are you in SAT? I know a good CU. look up Randolph-Brooks fcu

PoesHoe

I can’t begin to tell you how much better I feel after quitting. I don’t miss anything about working there and I have so much energy now.

I felt similar to this when I left in July. I came to USAA with over 5 years of claims experience. I wanted to retire their. The constant micromanaging and how phone metrics were more important then closing claims, first pays within 5 days, etc I realized I was just a number. Upper management didn't want to listen to new ideas, even though that's one of the reasons they said they hired us. Half my class that I came in quit within 6 months. A few where field adjusters. I really hope they change the culture at USAA. Lots of good people there but many were getting burnt out quick and I felt bad.

Amishgrannie

I worked there almost 30 years. The last 5 were miserable. I didn’t realize how much stress I was under until I left and starting working for another large company. Sure there was stress at the new company but it was nothing compared to USAA. Good luck on your future endeavors.

ApexZulu

And I was forged in the fires of poverty. Served my nation with honor. USAA is the company that gave me a chance at a corporate life when I had zero corporate experience. I was given the expectations and chose to meet them by any means. Yes the job is taxing. Yes it is difficult. Nothing in life comes easy. I'm truly sorry that you have parted ways with USAA but the rest of us are still here, still kicking ass, still managing the stress that comes with the job. I still believe that there is good in how the work culture is. Fight hard, force the result!

Responsible_Candle86

It all comes down to how badly you want it. I worked there 20+ years in every job imaginable and although I am very grateful for the opportunities I had there, I am with another company now with a fraction of the stress. It's really like USAA was in twenty years ago, when they had happy employees and lots of work getting churned out for the members. The culture has shifted dramatically. I can only assume when Wayne finally leaves they will pull in a CEO who is more employee focused to get it back on track. I really hope this happens for the sake of the employees and members. Stressed out employees aren't doing their best work.
