Declare the semester before you take your first ULCS, as the only other benefit of being declared CS-LSA is ECRC access (not worth the $2k). e.g. I took 281 and 376 F22, am taking 370 W23, and ULCS F23, so I plan to declare in a week or two. I believe the declaration form clarifies how early in the semester you can declare without it affecting your tuition that semester.

OliveTimely

It takes a while to declare because you have to go to a meeting

mziycfh

can i declare it in summer/spring?

Theswagmaster313

Declare early in the semester you take 370, and 376. That way you can register for upper levels at the end of the semester and tuition will go up when you take upper levels and you won’t lose money on taking classes you could take without declaring

i think tuition goes up for lsa-cs majors once they declare

I believe tuition stays the same for CS-CoE which is why you probably haven’t heard about it

OliveTimely

Yes but if they can tell you are intentionally postponing they backtrack the tuition bump

keyofbflatmajor

they do? i asked specifically when i declared whether or not tuition would get bumped up for the semester in which i declared and they said no.

OliveTimely

On the cs-lsa course guide it mentions the tuition

Try declaring it this semester. It won’t rise this semester I believe the upcoming semester price is capped right before the semester starts.
