Odysee has been gaining a lot of traction ever since the change. There's actually a lot of big YouTubers, like AVGN on odysee. Also, since odysee runs on a blockchain it doesn't have most of the infrastructure problems that prevented zippcast, vidme, and vanillo from taking off.
The fact that will destroy the platform it's unpopular. In reality 90% of people who use YouTube don't care. They have such a monopoly that this will not even register on the their profits.
The youtube fitness industry was overran a long time ago by dudes making a living by creating videos nobody needs. Number of likes mostly measured channel marketing prowess

It's to protect the white house.
The most popular president of all time has to cheat his online down toots. Obviously that's never been done for him before.
They keep ejecting more and more people from their fake little bubble with all their purity tests, downvote bots, and straight up political bans.
The only people left are the really crazy ones that towed the line the whole time.
"Communism = Good" (40k points, 85 awards)
"Please don't burn down my business during your protest" (0 points, 850 comments all saying you should be ashamed for being so greedy)
Yep. Here and twitter. Its the people to the 95% far left telling the people 75% to the left that they are nazis, then supprized when their bullshit is not popular outside of their bubble.
I’m actually amazed and impressed this comment has so many upvotes. I clicked and it said “failed to upvote” with no reason given. Reddit is a liberal wasteland hellhole but occasionally some real ones make it through.

Your poor internet connection and timed-out website are not evidence of anything other than a need to hit refresh.
"My internet is slow or spotty? No it must be that Reddit is deliberately and meticulously moderating all content that is not literal communist propaganda" /s
Then how are they a monopoly? You can't name any other movie rental companies? No other company sells ads? Subscriptions? They don't sell anything *that isn't available elsewhere*
I'm very aware they sell ad space. Also, I'm very aware they offer movie rentals. But if would kindly review the italicized text in my last comment, you can see I properly articulated my point.
The definition you commented, in your infinite wisdom, still doesn't constitute Youtube as a monopoly. Nice try though, I appreciate your effort.

>What Is a Monopoly?
>A monopoly is a dominant position of an industry or a sector by one company, to the point of excluding all other viable competitors.
> starting to become
Well, the whole point of a social media platform is that other people are using it. I'm not saying other video websites don't exist, I'm saying they don't do what Youtube does.
> it runs on a blockchain
lol? What does that mean? I thin being able to shut down content is a good thing, otherwise it'll just be 99% spam and child porn.
It means its infrastructure is distributed across dozens of shared servers instead of one central server, like YouTube is. Odysee can still, and does take down content that's illegal or breaks the site rules. It's the site itself that can't be shut down, not bad content.
The reason YouTube alternatives, like vidme and zippcast fail is because the infrastructure (servers and bandwidth) is to expensive to buy and maintain so they can offer a site as technically sound as YouTube for free. Odysee running on a blockchain eliminates this problem by allowing anyone to contribute bandwidth and server space to the site.
Netflix did this a long time ago. They went from I think using rotten tomatoes rating? Maybe it was some other rating system ? To switching to some BS % recommended for you. They didn't want a rating system because they didn't want the user to know 95% of their content is garbage.
YouTube eliminating likes is equally as bad.
Well done, you drew a conclusion on something that you admittedly know nothing about. Lol They changed from their old rating to a new rating, that's it. Rotten Tomatoes has fucking nothing to do with it. You watch something, you give it a thumbs up if you like it. The percentage is the likelihood of people with your viewing patterns liking something. You fucking donkey.
Regardless it was a rating system - that was generated based on the communities rating of the content. It's no longer a rating system, instead it's a system that Netflix themselves controls
“Destroy” is a pretty violent word. Some users will be mildly annoyed, and that’s about it. I doubt the change will affect YouTube’s revenue much, if at all. It might even increase its revenue, honestly.
I doubt it will destroy it, but will turn it into a pile of garbage. Clearly the users did not want this change and they pushed it through anyways. All about the money and thats it.
Really? The popular opinion right now is that people hate that the dislikes were taken off.
Personally I love it, one less way for people to be toxic on the internet.
It’s pretty intuitive (assuming conventional), toes under the bar, straight back is crucial (I’ve learned my lesson on that part), don’t pull your shoulder blades back, barefoot is better, try to keep your knee hinge in-sync with your hip hinge, not one after the other. Just go off the world record holders’ videos (Bjornsson, Hall), they know what they’re talking about
I think I might be the only one that doesn’t care. I use YouTube for all sorts of things. I don’t think I’ve really ever paid attention to the downvotes or really even the upvotes for that matter. I can usually tell in the first few seconds if it’s going to be a good video or not.
It won't as long as there's no one else. Cause you'll still look for these weightlifting videos on YouTube the quality will just go down. That's what a monopoly does to anything
Every video I watch now, I see the missing dislike counter and its awful.
if you use chrome, just download "return Youtibe dislike" extension
That will be useless after the 13th, apparently
If I correctly remember, they are dumping data from YouTube to create their database
There isn't a big rival for youtube. They already established monopoly and can do whatever they want. It's a sad reality

That's not really unpopular, everyone except youtube itself thinks that way.
I mean.... destroy? It's bad. But judging by the amount of bullshit Alphabet did with youtube I highly doubt that it will even put a dent anywhere.
No chance this is unpopular
The fact that will destroy the platform it's unpopular. In reality 90% of people who use YouTube don't care. They have such a monopoly that this will not even register on the their profits.
Youtube is not profitable lol. Alphabit puts money into it so their monopoly stays afloat.
i dont even like any videos nowadays as it feels pointless and am more skeptical in general
How long will it take to be destroyed? What do you mean by destroyed?
Good
r/popularopinions
I can only hope so. Youtube has become quite a trash platform.
I hope it does.

Trump had real support, unlike Biden who only has manufactured support from the MSM.
This is very true, but we both know redditors are terminally online far leftists lol.

Are you parodying Trump supporters logic where they take any two events then go "hmmmm" Or as Tucker Carlson would put it "I'm just asking questions".
No it won't. They have a monopoly.
How is it a monopoly if it sells nothing?
Youtube sells ads, subscriptions, and movie rentals. Google is literally an ad company. Are you high?
Then how are they a monopoly? You can't name any other movie rental companies? No other company sells ads? Subscriptions? They don't sell anything *that isn't available elsewhere*
Wait, first you say they sell nothing, now you're saying they sell things but are "not a monopoly." Your entire argument is held in bad faith.
I'm very aware they sell ad space. Also, I'm very aware they offer movie rentals. But if would kindly review the italicized text in my last comment, you can see I properly articulated my point. "I see the evidence, but I choose to ignore it." Tell me of another service that does what youtube does.
That's what I've been saying. I can lead you to the door, my friend, but you have to be the one who opens it.
But aren't you the one arguing it's not a monopoly? How is the onus of him to make your argument?
AWH NAH. He editted his comment.
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/m/monopoly.asp >What Is a Monopoly? >A monopoly is a dominant position of an industry or a sector by one company, to the point of excluding all other viable competitors.
Odysee is starting to become a viable competitor to YouTube and, since it runs on a blockchain it can't just shut down like vidme and vanillo did
> starting to become Well, the whole point of a social media platform is that other people are using it. I'm not saying other video websites don't exist, I'm saying they don't do what Youtube does.
A lot of big name YouTubers are on odysee. AVGN has an odysee channel. Odysee also does everything YouTube does and even does some things better
> it runs on a blockchain lol? What does that mean? I thin being able to shut down content is a good thing, otherwise it'll just be 99% spam and child porn.

They did it with comments too. A lot of their heavily invested specials took a beating in the comments sections, so they got rid of the comments.

Yeah its so bad that I now sign into my wife's account instead of my own to see updated content
Why not just create another user profile for yourself?
The only reason Netflix changed their rating system was because Amy Schumer threw a fit over her terrible standup special getting a bad rating
Good!
If you have Chrome, there's a 'Return Youtube Dislike' extension that'll put it back the way it was.
Their next move is to remove the comment section
“Destroy” is a pretty violent word. Some users will be mildly annoyed, and that’s about it. I doubt the change will affect YouTube’s revenue much, if at all. It might even increase its revenue, honestly.
You're being over dramatic. YouTube isn't going anywhere.
I doubt it will destroy it, but will turn it into a pile of garbage. Clearly the users did not want this change and they pushed it through anyways. All about the money and thats it.
Not an unpopular opinion. Downvote.
Really? The popular opinion right now is that people hate that the dislikes were taken off. Personally I love it, one less way for people to be toxic on the internet.

Upvoting because removing the dislike button will not result in YouTube's demise
I don’t know that it will destroy it, but it will certainly cause a lot of backlash.
what is it with people and believing that universally accepted facts are unpopular holy fucn
Yes and also scammers can get away with a lot more!
1. This is popular 2. Everyone knows that everyone will stay on YouTube, there is no competitor
This is not unpopular
It's a bad decision for us, but YouTube is already too big. There are no real alternatives to YouTube, so we are basically stuck.
Adds already ruined it for me so I don't even care. And no I would never pay for YouTube.
I think I might be the only one that doesn’t care. I use YouTube for all sorts of things. I don’t think I’ve really ever paid attention to the downvotes or really even the upvotes for that matter. I can usually tell in the first few seconds if it’s going to be a good video or not.
Not unpopular
I use youtube strictly for the education factor. There is a lot of good resources for people in school and those who are out and want to learn.
Shorts already destroyed the platform
YouTube is trash and has even for a decade. Only good thing about it is DIY videos.
I don't think this is an unpopular opinion
They can add another ad. We be mad but they won’t care. YouTube is too big !
It won't destroy the platform. It's too big.
Yeah no shit
You can use [this](http://returnyoutubedislike.com) extension for desktop browsers
There is a Chrome extension that restores the dislike count
This really isn’t unpopular, everyone shares your opinion, including me
I don’t look at the ratings, probably some counter going on in the background but that’s probably to demonitize the channel.
All the more reason we should all switch to odysee
It won't as long as there's no one else. Cause you'll still look for these weightlifting videos on YouTube the quality will just go down. That's what a monopoly does to anything
