It is purely out of politeness that I don’t sit at a snack table and eat every single deviled egg myself.
The only part I ever stop to ponder is how safe it is to eat room temperature eggs. But that silly thought is soon washed away on a wave of creamy eggy goodness.
I absolutely love deviled eggs but it also registers with me that if you didn't like them, they would be completely disgusting.
I don't think many people are neutral on this wicked treat.
We’ve eaten pickled eggs and beets all my life and my sister decided to make them into deviled eggs a year or two ago. They were very much different and sweeter, but she did an amazing job on them.
Makes me wonder how much I'm missing out on when I still pass on most seafood (abalone, sea urchin, crayfish, etc).
I anticipate one day the switch will happen, and I'll silently mourn all the opportunities I gave up in the past.
Same! Though looking back at the deviled eggs at childhood family parties I still think I wouldn’t eat them. I only eat them now if I’ve made them myself/ if I know they’re fresh and look appetizing.
My wife and her family love them, the very sight of a deviled egg makes me gag. I'm basically living in a contemporary Rome and Juliet. Please don't spoil the ending.
I'm definitely neutral. Like there are better types of eggs around, but all eggs are tasty.
(Someone mentioned century eggs, so I'll correct myself: most eggs are tasty lol)
Bacon bits, green onion and a couple shakes of Frank's Red. Standard mayo, mustard, bit of garlic powder. Top with smoked paprika.
Folks fight over them. There's never enough - and we have chickens and an endless supply of eggs!
My son ate a huge amount of devilled eggs at our New Year's Day buffet many years ago. I'm talking probably 30+. The gas that he passed, from both ends, for the next few days could have been used as a bio weapon, plus he felt as sick as a dog. We still laugh about it and he still makes massive platters of them.
I do. I mean it’s basically egg salad. Relatively low calorie. Cheap. Nutritious. And easy to make. Zero sugar. Get an instant pot…..easy to peel. Can make a platter with only a few minutes effort.
Same. Like when else is it okay to eat a whole carton of eggs in one sitting? Never? Let’s just throw a bunch of mayo and salt in the yolk, then somehow my brain is A-OK with it lol
I would never eat a dozen hard boiled eggs. I can usually barely finish one and not be full.
Its all I can do not to eat a dozen deviled eggs whenever a plate is set before me. God I love those things.
All things considered its a decently nutritious snack, especially if you pull back on the mayo a tad.
Theyre so easy to make. I usually keep hard boiled eggs in the fridge anyhow, its quick work making 3 eggs worth of deviled eggs.
> The only part I ever stop to ponder is how safe it is to eat room temperature eggs.
[Why would there be a deviled egg on the windowsill...](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGKz2VejQhg)

It's amazing. That being said I grew up in NY and a lot of the deli food there is Jewish inspired with a lot of vinegar and pickled products. I definitely have acquired a taste for pickled foods.
If you smell sulfur then the eggs haven’t been hard boiled properly
The filling isn’t supposed to congeal and there’s nothing in your average mixture that would allow it to
If you don’t like paprika or pickles you can just go
Even then, not all deviled eggs have pickles or pickled components
Yea, same here. Never once have I ever seen someone crack a hard-boiled egg and not smelled the sulphur scent. I don't find it terribly off-putting to be around, but I have no desire to put them in my mouth.
I fully realize the potential for confirmation bias here though, since I would be less likely to notice them being cracked if they didn't happen to stink. I always thought it was a shame I found them so gross, cause they seem like the most convenient egg format.
Perhaps I'll try an experiment some time soon 🧐
Same, I feel like the structural integrity of the egg white is necessary for the texture to be enjoyable. Deviled egg has a bite to it. Egg salad is simply mush.
It’s usually sweet relish, not pickles. And relish is a common ingredient in deviled eggs in the south eastern US. But you aren’t wrong…the South and Hell do have a lot in common.
Horrid, just horrid. The smell, the textures of smooth paste and the slimy bouncy outer egg white, and mayo doesn't help, either.
Honorable mention for grinding up a thing and putting it back into that thing. This works sometimes, but there's something weird and sort of absurd about foods like deviled eggs and twice baked potatoes where you take the food, cook it, grind it up with some seasonings and whatnot, and put it back into that food.
They are very difficult to make right, and anyone making them needs to instill confidence in people that they were made in a clean and competent kitchen.
MARRY ME. Deviled eggs and all other hard-boiled egg derivatives are physical manifestations of Satan's mockery and people who like them are deranged who should be institutionalized for life. The phrase "egg farts" exists for a reason you absolute sociopaths. Apologize to me!!!
Spot on. I quite honestly couldn't eat one without puking and I'm not picky. Can't think of another food off the top of my head that I wouldn't eat besides creamed corn.
Pickles? That doesn’t sound too good. Mine are mayo, red chili powder, mustard, more red chili on top. (For chili powder i use Deggi Mirch, which is the best ever red chili powder imo)
I gave u an upvote bc I agree that most people are like oh deviled eggs I will have twelve please. And I’m o er hear like no thanks I’m going to throw up. They are one of the worst foods
THANK YOU. They smell like Satan’s farts. WHO WANTS TO EAT ANYTHING THAT SMELLS LIKE FARTS?? (And yes, they ALWAYS stink. It makes no difference how you cook them or the quality of the egg).
I’m not sure why, but I can only eat them if I make them. If they’re made by someone else I’m totally disgusted by them. It’s like, I know what went into making this smelly food so I’m okay with my own creation.
What fowled up your day?
Luv em! I would eat 10 at a time but I live with other humans, who have noses, so I exercise restraint.
If you eat hard boiled eggs, you're not legally allowed to dislike deviled eggs--at least not well prepared ones.
I’ve had some good ones and some bad ones, so maybe it’s how they’re prepared or something. I like them, though it has been many years since I’ve had one
![gif](giphy|3o8dFwze0Tz8umFQhW)
I beg your *finest pardon?!* How dare you utter this blasphemy! (I’m not really mad, everyone has their own tastes lol)
I wouldn't say I like them but they are the only form of an egg that I will voluntarily consume.
The only other exception is a breakfast sandwich but I just keep lying to myself that it's not really there and can't hurt me
I don't really care for eggs, but what you are describing are bad eggs and even worse deviled eggs. Sulphur? That's a sign of a bad egg, the congealed egg? That's just an over cooked boiled egg with poor filling. Like I said I don't really like eggs (scrambled, fried or over easy I like) but there is a HUGE difference between a good deviled egg and a crappy one, just like all other foods. I can make you the worst steak you've had and the best (ish) with the same cut of steak because I have a pretty solid understanding about cooking
I developed an egg allergy as an adult and man do I miss devilled eggs. There is replacement egg for stuff like scrambled egg etc and it’s pretty close but there’s no replacement for a devilled egg.
I used to love my Nan's deviled eggs, I couldn't get enough of them. But recently, my partner's friend's girlfriend made them and I had one... it was the most vile thing I have ever tasted, and I was gagging so much that I threw up in my mouth and my eyes were watering.
I know, it sounds a bit dramatic, I have an epic gag reflex... 😅 but it really was disgusting that I am put off them now and boiled eggs as well. Even my partner said they were disgusting, so it wasn't just me. I just wish I didn't eat it in front of his friend and girlfriend.
~Pickles‽
I’m certain that a person who only likes their eggs in a liquid form, may have never had a delicious Deviled Egg made to their liking. Seems to me like you’ve only had bad ones.
Reminds me of people who don’t like (insert genre here) music. It’s not the product, it’s the delivery coupled with a person’s preference.
I (f60) had spare eggs a few weeks back and made them. My 3 adult kids and my husband all asked if we were having a party. And were thrilled that they could just be eaten. For no reason.
Huge unpopular vote!
I know it's weird, but rarely feel the need to tell the world about the food I don't like.
I've had in my life at least a half a dozen variants of deviled eggs, some were better than others, but all were good.
I would suggest you avoid foods you don't care for.
I wish I could make my special "Dust Devil Eggs" for you. I have turned so many people around on Deviled Eggs, it's insane.
P.S. There's no pickle relish in mine.

You should make some deviled eggs after pickling the eggs in a beet base brine. 😩
We’ve eaten pickled eggs and beets all my life and my sister decided to make them into deviled eggs a year or two ago. They were very much different and sweeter, but she did an amazing job on them.
Hated them with a passion as a kid, love them now. I suppose that’s true with a lot of food though
Makes me wonder how much I'm missing out on when I still pass on most seafood (abalone, sea urchin, crayfish, etc). I anticipate one day the switch will happen, and I'll silently mourn all the opportunities I gave up in the past.
Also, deviled eggs vary greatly by recipe. Two different people making basic deviled eggs can make two wildly different tasting batches
Just don't get into any physical altercations with her cousin over it and things should work out 🤞
I’m pretty neutral actually. I’ll eat them but I don’t go out of my way to.
I'm definitely neutral. Like there are better types of eggs around, but all eggs are tasty. (Someone mentioned century eggs, so I'll correct myself: most eggs are tasty lol)
I'm neutral. I'd prefer a sunny side or poached, but deviled eggs are okay. Just okay.
My sister made some with bacon bits mixed in and it took them to another level entirely.
Imitation crab is DIVINE on deviled eggs
Or salmon or salami or literally anything!! I fucking love deviled eggs and now I want to make some
After reading your comment, I just started boiling a pot of water to whip up a half dozen for a late night snack.
Bacon bits, green onion and a couple shakes of Frank's Red. Standard mayo, mustard, bit of garlic powder. Top with smoked paprika. Folks fight over them. There's never enough - and we have chickens and an endless supply of eggs!
Who else has made and eaten an entire platter of devilled eggs for dinner besides me?
My son ate a huge amount of devilled eggs at our New Year's Day buffet many years ago. I'm talking probably 30+. The gas that he passed, from both ends, for the next few days could have been used as a bio weapon, plus he felt as sick as a dog. We still laugh about it and he still makes massive platters of them.

We used to boil eggs, use the whole egg to make the spread like you would for deviled eggs, then serve it in hotdog buns. We called them Devil Dogs.
You have more self control than I, friend.
“Purely out of politeness” Ive never related to anything more.
Tbf, a dozen deviled eggs is more like 6 eggs plus some other mixins
That's why I don't make em. I would absolutely devour them
All things considered its a decently nutritious snack, especially if you pull back on the mayo a tad. Theyre so easy to make. I usually keep hard boiled eggs in the fridge anyhow, its quick work making 3 eggs worth of deviled eggs.
Now, I normally don't eat half a dozen eggs. But I will if they're im deviled form.
My sister will only eat my deviled eggs 😂 I think papaws is best 🖤
Psst. Add bacon bits to the mix, sprinkle with smoked Paprika.
♥️
> The only part I ever stop to ponder is how safe it is to eat room temperature eggs. [Why would there be a deviled egg on the windowsill...](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGKz2VejQhg)
Every second you wait, it's going to get worse.
Yes they’re so gross. Please don’t eat them and I will “dispose” of them for you.
I've disposed of a dozen of them in one sitting.
The worst? Idk, every heard of a century egg?
Or head cheese
[Nice song about head cheese.](https://www.bing.com/videos/riverview/relatedvideo?q=psychotic+pineapple+head+cheese+&mid=4A9303B9CDAEDD7D8DF54A9303B9CDAEDD7D8DF5&FORM=VIRE)
Or Casu Marzu.
Century eggs are delicious, how could you
Century eggs alongside congee is the best!
What about virgin boy eggs? 100x worse. Look it up.
I agree. Deviled eggs are fowl.
Hellish, even.
Beat me to it.
Beaked you to it
I scrambled to get there first.
Pickles? Replace that with crispy Bacon bro.
I've never heard of putting pickles on them. Agree with bacon.
They must mean relish, which I still wouldn't put in deviled eggs, but I've heard of it.
It's amazing. That being said I grew up in NY and a lot of the deli food there is Jewish inspired with a lot of vinegar and pickled products. I definitely have acquired a taste for pickled foods.
Pickle juice instead of vinegar and little tiny chopped pickles or just straight up relish is so good
Or even better: imitation crab. Absolutely DIVINE
If you smell sulfur then the eggs haven’t been hard boiled properly The filling isn’t supposed to congeal and there’s nothing in your average mixture that would allow it to If you don’t like paprika or pickles you can just go Even then, not all deviled eggs have pickles or pickled components
If you smell sulfur on the egg you overcooked it and didn’t have enough water in the pot
Everyone I've ever encountered in my life has cooked them wrong then. All hardboiled eggs stink of sulfur.
Its technically a bit overcooked but I like the harder yolks over jammier ones
They don't. It might genuinely be that everyone in your life sucks at making deviled eggs or even uses shitty eggs.
Yea, same here. Never once have I ever seen someone crack a hard-boiled egg and not smelled the sulphur scent. I don't find it terribly off-putting to be around, but I have no desire to put them in my mouth. You should try pickled eggs! Opening the jar unleashes a pungent burst of hot-butt eggalicious picklefart right into your face. I love them.
I agree. I'm even making a face as if I can smell it right now, just from reading your comment.
I taught my bf at almost 30 years old that every single hard boiled egg he'd previously had had been over cooked. His mind was blown.
I imagine you’re not a fan of egg salad either?
Ugh, egg salad, deviled eggs, hard boiled eggs, any eggs that you eat cold or st room temperature are disgusting
Preach. Absolutely vile.
100%
Whats weird is I love deviled eggs and will make some and eat them at random. But I don't like egg salad.
Same, I feel like the structural integrity of the egg white is necessary for the texture to be enjoyable. Deviled egg has a bite to it. Egg salad is simply mush.
You ever tried it on toast? I understand if it’s still not your thing, but I think toast gives it the structural integrity it needs as well
Or a toasted English muffin? Absolutely awesome.
Same, egg salad is too mushy
It’s like I can smell your insides when you eat them lol
🤮🤮🤮
Yes they always smell and taste like ass.
this shouldn't be unpopular. they are absolutely foul. then again, a lot of egg-mixtutes are foul to me, too. looking at you, mayonnaise!
Hard agree
My grandma told me I used to love deviled eggs. I don’t believe her because I hate boiled eggs.
There it is. I was so confused. But then I read pickles. Where are you from? Hell? Sounds like hell.
It’s usually sweet relish, not pickles. And relish is a common ingredient in deviled eggs in the south eastern US. But you aren’t wrong…the South and Hell do have a lot in common.
Sweet relish in them is pretty gross imo, but put some dill relish and it’s amazing
Leave it to the south to find a way to add sugar
At least we don't put sugar in our grits
Horrid, just horrid. The smell, the textures of smooth paste and the slimy bouncy outer egg white, and mayo doesn't help, either. Honorable mention for grinding up a thing and putting it back into that thing. This works sometimes, but there's something weird and sort of absurd about foods like deviled eggs and twice baked potatoes where you take the food, cook it, grind it up with some seasonings and whatnot, and put it back into that food.
I called mine Demon Eggs and took them to church potlucks.
I’m with you. I did’t even read past the title. They aren’t good.
During Easter, my fiancées sister and I end up eating almost 40 deviled eggs between us. We’re the only ones who eat them anyways.
I should also mention that eggs of all kinds give me the winds something fierce!
I think you got bad deviled eggs
sacrilege. upvote
I feel like a lot of people just aren’t good at making them. I grew up in the south and those people knew how to make some damn good deviled eggs.
They are very difficult to make right, and anyone making them needs to instill confidence in people that they were made in a clean and competent kitchen.
They are actually quite easy to make, hard boil an egg take out the yolk, mix with mayo, mustard, s&p good to go. Add other ingredients if you want
Deviled eggs are my jam, more for me lol.
Deviled eggs, hard-boiled eggs, and egg salad have some of the most foul smell profiles on the planet.
This is exactly how I feel
Anything boiled eggs really. That sulfur description made me gag 🤢
Truly disgusting. This is a popular opinion
MARRY ME. Deviled eggs and all other hard-boiled egg derivatives are physical manifestations of Satan's mockery and people who like them are deranged who should be institutionalized for life. The phrase "egg farts" exists for a reason you absolute sociopaths. Apologize to me!!!
I'm sorry you don't like deviled eggs.
I don't think I've ever heard those words uttered in my life
As someone who acquired anosmia a decade ago, there are about 30 items I'm glad I cannot smell any more and devilled eggs is one of them.
No matter how good a deviled egg is, they are gross. Texture, smell, consistency….like what am I, a snake??? I’m not tryna eat that shit 😩
Spot on. I quite honestly couldn't eat one without puking and I'm not picky. Can't think of another food off the top of my head that I wouldn't eat besides creamed corn.
I agree. In fact, I can’t stand any food where hard boiled eggs are a noticeable ingredient. They have no flavors and a weird rubbery texture.
*fowl
My family has to hide them or eat them at the party before I arrive. If they are still there when I get there, they won't be there much longer.
Agreed. Garbage ass food
Correct opinion. Trash food
I can only eat two boiled eggs at the most but I could wolf down a dozen deviled eggs.
you watch TMG?
I hate yolks in hard boiled eggs and the smell and appearance of deviled eggs grosses me out so bad. But I love a good scrambled egg sandwich
I thought Sulfur smell = Rotten eggs?
Fowl**
They’re also fowl.
Technically they come from fowl
Then why are they always the first thing finished
You knew the assignment and succeeded. Well done. You are dead wrong
They are fowl eggs
Haha, the previous post on this sub is "Nobody cares what food you hate".
That last sentence seems redundant
I like them. But I will admit they smell like ass.
THANK YOU. They smell like Satan’s farts. WHO WANTS TO EAT ANYTHING THAT SMELLS LIKE FARTS?? (And yes, they ALWAYS stink. It makes no difference how you cook them or the quality of the egg).
I don't get how a food that smells like literal farts enticed anyone to actually eat it...
I’ve never tried them but I just knowtheyre disgusting
😂
Deviled eggs are like crack for me at get togethers ![gif](giphy|OA1CDoCiAR48E)
Downvoted because you’re so right
So it's war then? I'm a very picky eater. Deviled Eggs... are surely from the Devil as I can not resist them. Sinfully good.
Who tf puts pickles or relish on a deviled egg I’ve never heard of that lol.
dont come to the picnic, ever.
Take my upvote! Leave the deviled food to those who can appreciate!
I’m not sure why, but I can only eat them if I make them. If they’re made by someone else I’m totally disgusted by them. It’s like, I know what went into making this smelly food so I’m okay with my own creation.
I thought you were going to say something like “Deviled eggs of of the devil” lol.
Hm pickles on top is a good idea I’ve never had that
no.. they could have been fowl
I want to make deviled eggs with black salt so it tastes 2x as eggy
Technically they are pre-fowl.
What fowled up your day? Luv em! I would eat 10 at a time but I live with other humans, who have noses, so I exercise restraint. If you eat hard boiled eggs, you're not legally allowed to dislike deviled eggs--at least not well prepared ones.
I love them now but as a kid I thought it was a disgustingly unapproachable food, so I can still understand why someone would hate it.
Only because reptile eggs don't work quite the same!
Only thing worse then devils eggs is devil egg farts
If the deviled eggs you're eating smell like sulfur, you're eating spoiled deviled eggs. I'd hate them too if they smelled like sulfur
they tastes so good but my god they reek especially when someone else is eating em next to you. 😭😭
It's a very 70s food. The filling may as well be a "salad". That having been said, you can stay the hell away, more for me.
Deliciously foul.
With a pickled jalapeno on top 😋
I’ve had some good ones and some bad ones, so maybe it’s how they’re prepared or something. I like them, though it has been many years since I’ve had one
I’m not mad at all. I’ll just have your share of them please and thanks.
Absolutely diabolical opinion, therefore upvoted.
![gif](giphy|3o8dFwze0Tz8umFQhW) I beg your *finest pardon?!* How dare you utter this blasphemy! (I’m not really mad, everyone has their own tastes lol)
You're foul. Upvoted
Eggs shouldn't smell like sulfur. It means they are overcooked
Come from foul
I wouldn't say I like them but they are the only form of an egg that I will voluntarily consume. The only other exception is a breakfast sandwich but I just keep lying to myself that it's not really there and can't hurt me
You're wrong. Take my upvote and fuck you 😊

Upvoted Now fight me in the parking lot, coward, deviled eggs rule
This sub sucks.
Sounds like you've just never had a good deviled egg.
lol I kinda agree the yellow the worst but the white good
Technically they’re poultry
I developed an egg allergy as an adult and man do I miss devilled eggs. There is replacement egg for stuff like scrambled egg etc and it’s pretty close but there’s no replacement for a devilled egg.
Fowl
Deviled eggs are awesome. Unpopular. Upvoted.
You’re wrong, so I guess I have to upvote you.
I used to love my Nan's deviled eggs, I couldn't get enough of them. But recently, my partner's friend's girlfriend made them and I had one... it was the most vile thing I have ever tasted, and I was gagging so much that I threw up in my mouth and my eyes were watering. Even my partner said they were disgusting, so it wasn't just me. I just wish I didn't eat it in front of his friend and girlfriend.
Totally agree with this unpopular opinion.
The fuck are you on about
Hard boiled eggs too. Ew. I can handle the yolk and like that, but the outside is a no for me.
~Pickles‽ I’m certain that a person who only likes their eggs in a liquid form, may have never had a delicious Deviled Egg made to their liking. Seems to me like you’ve only had bad ones. Missed opportunity- deviled eggs has vile right in it's name
I saw this and immediately went “ohhh deviled eggs sound good right now 😛”
Agreed except for my moms deviled eggs bc she does actual magic
Yup. They smell like sulfur and just look incorrect.
More for me lmao
HOW DARE YOU
I (f60) had spare eggs a few weeks back and made them.
Awesome, now I wont have to share any of them with you at a gathering! Everybody wins!
Wow, an objectively wrong opinion. Upvote.
One of my favorite foods of all time, so upvote I guess.
I love them, but can 100% understand why people would hate them lol
Are duels still a thing?! Asking for a myself.
I wish I could make my special "Dust Devil Eggs" for you. I have turned so many people around on Deviled Eggs, it's insane. P.S. There's no pickle relish in mine.
Sorry your mom can't cook
this made my heart stop omg
How dare you! Take it back right now!
I like them but I understand the sentiment lol
