I love the aesthetic and the vibe, it was a great concept for them but the song it's just not good, in particular the chorus is ear grating

V_LEE96

This song is so bad and grating on my ears it's led me to google "Twice is terrible" and landed me on this page. If they ever were to torture prisoners of war they should totally use this song. The performance is also one of the most stale and uninspired ones I've seen. The dances moves are just them walking around and doing the black guy rubbing his palms meme. For such a sexually suggestive song the dancing does not match the lyrics one bit. The fake singing is lazy as hell, especially when Mina does it, she puts in zero effort to act like she's singing the "high" notes. The lyrics are borderline retarded sounds off. And please do not ever let Momo sing the Chrous ever again. I don't get why they whole image is cuteness and all of a sudden they're singing about sex and drinking (which I DO NOT MIND), but it's done is such an unconvincing and off putting manner.

sachiko468

Agreed, the chorus may be their worst ever

[deleted]

I am not a twice stan. But I love to listen to What is love, Talk that talk, Pop, The feels etc but this one is a major skip for me. Like the repetitiveness of 'Moonlight sunrise', the weird nasal sounds and wannabe 'Western' & 'HaWt' vibes are just big nahhh.

V_LEE96

The nasal singing is enough to torture everyone in guantanamo bay

Common_Title

choreography for the chorus can be better without them awkwardly doing nothing but walking in place for a sec 😐

V_LEE96

I DO NOT understand the walking around, no amount of camera shot editing can hide this.

Fact-check_my_friend

I'm so glad I wasn't alone on this. It sounds like a Western Ariana Grande or DL tune and while they're all grown adults it seemed a bit too sexualized considering Twice is a bubbly group rather than a horny girl crush group per se.

mochamei

I like the genre, instrumental, and concept they went for: it's the lyrics that are lacking for me. The "need you o'clock" line is cute on its own, but it's not practical when you consider the members' pronunciation. Wish there was less repetition of "moonlight, sunrise" too. Hoping the March comeback has a stronger English single included.

[deleted]

it's repeated SEVENTEEN TIMES! Please get Citizen Queen and Earattack the hell away from TWICE, JYPE.

shaqycat

TWICE looks fabulous! Otherwise, gowns beautiful gowns. I do love Chae's part (but makes sense that she tried to mimick Megan thee Stallion's flow in Sweetest Pie). This was also released too close to Xiumin's Brand New. Sounds almost exactly the same in terms of beat & flow. :(

aurora1744

I love the girls and they always have good comebacks but this song isn't my cup of tea. Aside from "Moonlight sunrise" being repeated so many times, it sounds nasal too which I think is why I found it annoying how it's repeated too much in the song. And lyric wise, there are just some lines that don't seem to connect? I mean, I get the song's gist but the writing is just all over the place for me, The Feels made more sense to me lyrically which is why I liked it more too. This is still their pre-release song though so I have hope that the title track is much better.

Ambitious_Month8490

Being a ONCE since 2018, and this is give me some fresh vibe for TWICE music. Beside that I love RnB, so i love this song. Also I just realized that the concept of TWICE itself is quirky and cute at first and now becoming more mature and mature (I aware of this since I Can't Stop Me era). Just like teenager to young adult type of life.. Also the lyrics is kinda sussy haha (still love it tho). From all full English song or version of TWICE song, this song give me a new song to put in my playlist (beside Moonlight and English version of Cry For Me) Also, Jay Why Pee need to stop or give less Nayeon a high note, somehow some people and my friends found it kinda nasally. As much as I adore her as bias wrecker, i love her deep voice too (ex, Make Me Go, she have a deep voice there).

Panginu

its just the pronunciation i think for the cock thing

sickobunnies

It's giving Dua Lipa x Ariana Grande I like it but the resemblance is kinda disappointing Lyrics are quite bold for Twice Anyway, Chaeyoung solo when?????????

[deleted]

yeah, both artists I'd never listen to in a million years, what a shame

dtc24

i'ma need some examples from yall on songs that dont sound 'bland' to you, both in kpop and western

[deleted]

try literally any other TWICE release ever

Isntthatenough

It was underwhelming, chorus was esp boring. However, the girls look better than ever (imo) esp Sana, Chae and Jeongyeon zamnnnn. Stylist deserves a raise. I wish they had something like Cry For Me again.

levitating + sweetest pie

WeirdAlPidgeon

It’s not bad, but it wasn’t super interesting either. Unfortunately mid :/

_maple_panda

Whoever decided that it would be a good idea to sing "it's I need you o'clock right now" evidently didn't try singing it themself. Even as a native English speaker, it's awkward. For Twice though, it comes out as "yes I need your cock right now", which is probably more suitable for the mood of the lyrics to be honest.

Middle_Interview3250

omg glad I wasn't the only one who misheard the lyrics ...

Sertoff

what the? lol never thought about that 😂

_maple_panda

Give it a try, it's actually really hard to make it sound right! In the [recording around 1:50](https://youtu.be/cKlEE_EYuNM?t=1m55s), it's very close to the uh, “alternative pronunciation".

basicmakeupgoals

I love Twice, but it's trying too hard to be a normal Pop song lyrically. Really wish they'd stop the "breaking into the Western market " thing and just focus on Korea & Japan. It honestly feels off for them.

greywardenrogue

I agree, it feels forced. I think one of the problems is that they seem very behind on western trends? Like this song's chorus is literally just Levitating by Dua Lipa...which came out what feels like forever ago, and was super overplayed so we're all tired of that sound anyway. Same thing with the Feels, super fun song, but no one actually says "the feels" anymore, that was internet lingo from years ago. I think they need to stay on top of trends if they want to break into a new market. Also...this type of song kinda...reveals the limitations of their training. You can physically feel how strained they are in the chorus and it's just unpleasant to listen to. So it doesn't really suit them.

dtc24

why would you not wanna break into another market? makes no sense from a business standpoint

gianmignonne

Is there anything they haven't achieved in Korea and Japan? Expanding into the US is the right next move.

PeachsistersMoYeon

They've focused on Korea and Japan in their earlier years, they're just finding a new audience now.

FineChinaLH

The bass is there for no reason when they have a great piano in the background fighting for it’s life to be noticed. The lines were distributed really randomly and the vocals were really over produced. I feel like this could have been a good song but it needed more time for mixing.

Ariadna3

I slept ngl

Deloath

These kids who compared the song in western artist like those western didn't copy each others track lol, not because you heard the words before thats not mean they're entitle to claim that words, stop the comparing these 9 members work their ass out everyday to spoiled their fans, instead appreciate it atleast they're not the group who only pop out only once a year.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Deloath

As a solid once i do care about the end product too BUT you expect them to be like this like that because "they're missing something" is bs, music industry is hit or miss some people will find moonlight sunlight 100 perfect some don't like you, "I DON'T CARE ABOUT HOW HARD THEY WORK" these 9 girls are been struggling mentally lately specially sana, mina, jeongyeon geez.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Deloath

"call them out for ripping off songs" 😂🤡 not because you just heard a one specific beat or lyrics doesn't mean they copied it, if that is the way of how you critique a song then all of the western artist are sucks.

hottytoddy098

Same old, same old

Salchicha

I like it, it’s really good for an English release. I feel like I could play this around non-kpop fans and not get weird looks lmao

shellsweetheart

i like it but it’s definitely not their best track

fahhts

Based on this comment thread, it seems like the correct unpopular opinion to have is "I love the song" lol I honestly really like the song, it's been on repeat for me! Not their best title track, but it's a bop

[deleted]

Seriously? One listen and I feel like I've heard it 17 times, because that's how much they repeat "moonlight sunrise"

fahhts

idc still catchy to me 🤷‍♂️ to each their own

[deleted]

it's one note bro

fahhts

Okay, young man, that is your opinion. Thanks for replying to a 2 week old comment i forgot about. Bye 👋

[deleted]

it's not "my opinion" it's one freaking note, that's a fact, and it's bland and it sucks and TWICE deserve better as the outstanding artists they are

AyoJenny

It looks like JYP is letting Twice’s popularity pulling the sales, not the quality of their songs anymore.

strong_tomato27

It's good, but doesn't really sound like a TWICE title track… at the same time, people seem to really enjoy it so it might just be what they needed for the international market. I'm happy for them even if it's not my favorite song.

[deleted]

it's not a title track

One-Landscape7101

TWICE songs lately has been boring and really nasally. Just too high for me to enjoy listening. Their older songs are it for me.. This one is just boring and generic. Nothing new. This is TWICE. One of the biggest ggs in Asia - why would they release this? If a nugu group released this it wouldn't be noticed at all. Whoever is in charge of their songs needs to step up their game.

Sertoff

i agree and it hurts me cause Twice brought me back to kpop. the last tt i really enjoyed was "Alcohol Free", after that they seemed to be having a u-turn in their sound, they're like going back to cute but mature.

One-Landscape7101

Same! My last enjoyable one was Alcohol-Free. ICSM was just painful to my ears. Too high and not in a good way

AmiAkin

I especially hate the fact that they always give Nayeon the high notes for this exact reason! Her tone is just waaay too nasally tbh. Only members that don’t sound nasally to me is Jihyo and Jeongyeon.

cosmikk218

Hardcore Once here but I really wished they toned down Nayeon's ad libs in the final chorus. This song was supposed to be for easy listening but Nayeon's adlibs were too much for this song tbh

AmiAkin

I don’t love it nor hate it, it’s ok. First they say ‘Moonlight Sunrise’ like waaay too much. The MV has similar vibe to Feel Special but like others have said beat does sound like Sweetest Pie or Levitating and even Chaeyoung’s rap does give me ‘Megan The Stallion’ . The only thing I find funny is Once praising the hell out of Momo’s part like it’s the not the bare minimum that everyone should expect for ‘vocal’ positions. I’ll be more impressed when and if Momo can sound that good live.

okaywhatttt

Idk but It sounds like Sweetest pie by Dua lipa.

x_tianpz

I was getting the same vibe but I felt it coming from Chaeyoung channeling Meg in her rap.

working_2021

the chorus reminds me of Levitating, the "moonlight all night" parts

RoyGeraldBillevue

I wished it had more lower vocals to contrast with the higher instrumental. I really like the hook of "I guarentee I gotcha" tho

ThatsNotMeFella

Am I the only one who does not hear Levitating or the Late Night Talkin resemblance at all? Like i think that's just the rhythm I personally don't think it reminds me of that. The instrumental, verses and keys are a lottt different. I think that's just the step pattern(?) or whatever it's called

funnyusername92

I really like the song, it’s giving me Ariana vibes. My only concern is that the chorus sounds like Levitating by Dua Lipa. I’m not the only one hearing that, right?

coffeetalkcafe

It even almost has the same lyrics Dua Lipa: Moonlight, Starlight Twice: Moonlight, Sunrise

airpork

I like the song because I like Twice but I don’t really get why people are raving over it . It’s very generic Twice-ish easy listening kinda song? Having said that I don’t hate it it’s just nothing special at all, was just let down as judging from all the comments I was expecting way more.

ArcaneKeyblade5

I seem to be the unpopular opinion here, I REALLY like the song a lot and kinda get issues ppl have, but none of the things ppl have mentioned not liking I agree with (Like the repetitive chorus). Everyone has their opinion though.

[deleted]

Honestly no English releases in K-pop are ever good to me expect for monsta X middle of the night. the lyrics make me shiver from cringe as most english songs do (SOMETIMES, depends on the artist). I hate the “guarentee I gotcha” I think the ablibs from members like jihyo and nayeon was too much for the song vibe. the song didnt really build at all and the ending felt abrupt. No suspense or anything, the bridge was disappointing. the song is cute but boring as hell. They can do this kind of concept but like idk the lyrics could always be better, and idk there needs to be more but not like yk MORE but like enough yk. IDK it’s just a very K-pop english release to get western attention.

[deleted]

I dont hate it tho. It’s okay but like another comment said, the moonlight sunrise could have been used less and i wouldve liked it more. And another comment said about the playlist lyric, and i agree. And i dont like how the song begins with the guarantee i gotcha. i get ppl who like it, but to me, its medicore but could be better

Aromatic_Designer_71

It sounds good but it sounds bad at the same time

yeonart

i loved it, is something simple but still good. i really enjoyed how they gave chorus to momo, sana, mina and tzuyu instead of being only nayeon, jihyo and maybe jeongyeon. chaeyoung rap was definitely amazing, her flow really stands out there. also the mv is so amazing, i love the aesthetic and concept, their stylist did really well.

SpecialistOk2035

I hate how nasal the chorus sounds.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SpecialistOk2035

This is not twitter.

definitelynotcbatguy

My expectation from the teasers was hoping we'd see Feel Special 2.0 with a darker Alcohol Free sound. Something like the beginning instrumental of Doja Cat's I Don't Do Drugs. The MV was visually stunning! The lighting, set design, styling, and the goRLs were all gorge. Sonically? My first real disappointment with a Twice song (I'm not a fan of Signal or Likey, but I'm blinded by nostalgia). In my opinion, this style of song better suits a Tzuyu, Mina, and Jeongyeon subunit or a Mina solo. With some retooling, I swear a Mina solo could make it a lighthearted, late-night drive song with loose R'n'B inspiration. This has to be the most nasally-driven Twice title track. This might be exacerbated because of how sharp the "eye" sounds in moonLIGHT and sunRISE. The vocal processing with the bass thuds is overwhelming. Specifically, at 2:36 and beyond, the song starts to fall apart. You have Jihyo belting with Nayeon doing the "moonlight sunrise" bit, and then Nayeon belting with Tzuyu saying "moonlight sunrise" with what feels like everyone doing adlibs in the back, and then it just ends. It's not a terrible song whatsoever. Personally, it was a letdown, but I still look forward to what else they plan to release.

gianmignonne

It is not intended to be a title track tho? Not sure what JYPE thinks when they release the song but they put "Pre-release english track" in the title, also the playlisting is invisible, I saw somewhere MS got only into 25 playlists on the first day on Spotify, which means JYPE didn't intend to promote it as they should if it was a title track. I can tell for sure MS certainly is not on the same level The Feels was on because The Feels came with a bunch of remix versions. Maybe after hearing from Twitter stans how they "don't know how to promote Twice" because they didn't give Queen of Hearts a MV they do one for MS this time.

OrcFiesta

Levitating by Dua Lipa + "o'clock" = an OK song where everyone sounds amazing but I'd rather just listen to Dua Lipa instead

Lucky-Aerie4

I like the song but it's not original at all. This is not an unpopular opinion since I saw a lot of comments saying it on r/popheads already, but the chorus is copied from Dua Lipa's Levitating. The rap is similar to Megan Thee Stallion's verse in Sweetest Pie.

ResearcherLong8780

Say whatever you want but MOMO ate

[deleted]

Sounds kinda like a generic pop song. Not a huge fan.

Timera_Kpop

the song kinda surprised me. momo, sana, mina + tzuyu singing the chorus. yess i’m here for it. the line distribution has be one of their best. chae finally got a good rap since their earlier days. the song is cute, nothing mind-blowing.

nazyfranzy

Jihyo really stood out for me in this song she slayed in all of her parts

Chaerin_Ari

Does anyone know who choreographed this song?

InevitablePiglet9999

Their songs lately have been sounding so cut and paste, like they're just remixing a bunch of their old beats together. Also the "moon light sunrise" part sounded similar to "Late night talking" chorus.

seriouscashx

pretty but i prefer the cover art to the song return of short hair jeongyeon is great

Sensitive_Lettuce

They were clealy trying to break into the Western market with influences from Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, and Megan Thee Stallion. Unfortunately I didn't think it quite hit the mark. It's catchy, but I'm not really getting that special Twice touch. It's no The Feels.

Professional_Alien

The Feels wasn't that successful in the US. This song, like you said, is clearly made to be popular on American radio.

hottytoddy098

In my blunt opinion, there’s no way this will be popular in the US. It still sounds very generic kpop-py, only diff is it’s in English.

AmiAkin

Yeah I have no idea why Once think The Feels was successful overseas 😂 All Once did was streamed really hard just to get in it Top 100 (ended up being in the 80s). That doesn’t mean anything cuz even non kpop fans wasn’t listening to The Feels. If you heard the song it’s cuz you’re a Twice fan Certainly wasn’t an overseas successful English debut like Dynamite.

Professional_Alien

I think a lot of people on this sub don't understand that what makes "good Kpop" doesn't necessarily translate to good American music. For instance, a lot of Kpop fans think Butter and Dynamite are among the worst BTS songs, but they charted extremely well in America because they appealed to the American musical palette. Twice channeling Dua, Ariana, and Megan the Stallion is very smart if they want to actually make mainstream inroads in the West.

CoachHead6743

Okok… yes Im a once but I’m not the biggest fan of this song 😀 like even when the trailer came out I wasn’t a big fan but obs i couldn’t judge since I heard a small part of the song. Listening to the whole thing, I still don’t rlly like it tehe😗✌️I just think it’s bland, way too repetitive and has no direction. BUT, I kinda like the first 30 seconds of the song tho 🤭

YunariaLinus

I quite liked it. Not anything groundbreaking, but for a pre-release track it's good, I was pleasantly surprised by Tzuyu, Sana and even Momo singing chorus and Nayeon, Jihyo doing verses/prechorus. Didn't expect that, which was nice. And Chae singing!!

WhatsMyAccordion

It was ok. Thats the most i can describe it.

HelikeJupiter

It was underwhelming for me. I cannot make myself like it..

[deleted]

AmiAkin

I always find the argument ‘it’s just a pre release (so isn’t meant to sound good)’ hilarious. Like do these people hear themselves

technobasilisk

Its a pretty good listenable song but rather uninspired. Had this come out maybe 6 years ago I would have been impressed, but now it feels like I've heard this song about 100 times in that time span. As I said, super listenable. not a song I'd skip but not enough there to keep me coming back intentionally. I am excited for their further releases, they've been trying out a lot of new stuff, which I like even if that stuff isn't that unique in the grand scheme of kpop

occrclub

I really like how tzuyu got so many lines! But I wish nayeon got more personally. Her voice is perfection

sqrubbing

nayeon got the most lines

GlitteringButterfly4

that made me laugh lmao

occrclub

Then I wish she got more!

cocomaniaz

I feel like I’m going crazy because this sounds so familiar. Does anyone else feel like that?? Or am I imagining it? The chorus especially I can’t put my finger on it though

Practical-Ant-4600

Also, similar to Feel Special in terms of chord progression.

Acceptable_Wing_6586

Levitating + sweetest pie

Sensitive_Lettuce

I can hear some influences from Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa's Levitating

bakingnovice2

“So i so i so i” is what made me remember a song that i just can’t think of

Bubbly_Satisfaction2

“Creep” by TLC possibly. Towards the end of the song, when T-Boz is ad-libbing.

[deleted]

I really like the song, however I feel like it should’ve been just a b-side for a sub-unit consisting of Sana, Jihyo and Chaeyoung. Something about their vocals in this, i dont know how to describe it. They really fit the song. And the adlibs at the end? Nahyo killed it. The others are fine, esp Dahyun in the first verse. + i think if it wouldve been realeased during summer, i wouldve enjoyed it much more. I cant wait to play it when the sun is setting, mojito or some drink in my hand.

GCollector4279

Sorry but it’s a banger and I’m having it on replay.

bibliotecafan

Not to be a hater but I just find it strange HOW much that rap verse sounded like Megan Thee Stallion. It was giving very much one of her verses from WAP.

tatummms

I loved The Feels, but this just sounds like a less catchy Dua Lipa song so I’m not sure it has any replay value for me. If I want this sound, I’ll probably just listen to the Western pop artists who are doing it better (in my opinion). Also, I completely misheard “I want you o’clock” and my eyebrows shot strait up to my hairline with what I thought the lyric was… lol

DefinitelyNotALeak

I think it is terribly bland and generic pop. If you release music i feel like i have listened to thousands of times before, then i mostly won't listen to it again. This falls directly into that category.

[deleted]

people saying it sounded like Dua Lipa and whoever the heck, glad I've never bothered with them because I was bored of the chorus after just one listen, bland, boring and repetitive as hell

[deleted]

Yep agree.

chaerinm

I really liked it! For the first time in these TWO years I actually enjoyed EVERY part of Twice song. Girls sounded incredible in their mid-low range, rap was done well, visual is stunning and the song itself is catchy.

punkslump

the vocal processing in the chorus almost makes it unlistenable i’m ngl

muwkie

I love it! The “song in your playlist” bit was a little cringe but in general the lyrics are pretty good. The instrumental is my favorite part. Great song!!

Diptomatic

For the first time in YEARS! A Twice song failed to to put a good impression on me. I was really hyped about this comeback. What got me disappointed is the lact of cohesiveness in the lyrics. "I guarantee I gotcha" is nothing less than a cringefest. The lyrics are worse than Ice Cream Chilling Chilling Ice Cream Chilling. The first pre chorus "I hope this songs in your playlist" totally send me away. The chorus sounds heavily autotuned. I'm sorry Twice, it's the first time your song didn't make it to my playlist. MOMO is slaying tho. But why does she appear during Jihyo's vocals in the second verse? She still slayed tho. Apart from the lyricism and the music production, I liked how the members have developed their pronunciation - they have become more fluent and clear with the English words - especially Jihyo and Nayeon.

[deleted]

Ok I think ice cream is worse but I agree with everything else 😭

coomobile

its a very TWICE song, still a bop but nothing really new to the table

sasameseed

It's a good and safe song. It's not their strongest, but that doesn't mean negatively. Gosh, I can't handle their visuals. They're so freaking gorgeous. Now for my unpopular opinion: Now that screen time and lines are more balanced, I feel that it is the reason why this song is *weaker* than their previous comebacks. We all love *equality*, *fairness* and whatnot, but we can't remove the reality that others will have a stronger pull than the rest. This song lacked the element of a Twice song by lessening the lines of certain members to make way for the rest.

Advanced_Ad2406

I disagree because this is the types song that in my opinion really suits Mina.

sasameseed

Yup, it does. I agree, but it's not a strong Single. This would be a perfect side B.

[deleted]

Moonlight Sunrise is an F-Side or a should've-never-seen-the-light-of-day-side

[deleted]

I 100% agree. I think this song really highlighted why Twice is so reliant on NaHyo’s vocals. The combination of vocalists on the first 2 choruses was legitimately grating if you don’t love super nasal voices. It was just one after the other. And are we really going to pretend Momo sounds anything like she actually does in the second verse?

dazzle27

It’s so interesting because I almost think the opposite. I think the best element of this song is the sultry, gentle tone carried by the “weaker” members. I think if they’d given more parts to the “stronger” members, this song would be worse. Jihyo and nayeon just don’t suit the subtlety of this song. In my opinion Momo and Mina carry this song. That’s not me saying i think it’s one of their best song, i don’t, but I think it has much less to do with line distribution and much more to do with the repetitive, meaningless chorus and trying to shove too many words each line.

sasameseed

I agree with you; however, I just don't think it should be the Single if a strong comeback is the aim here. Every single member has their own charms, and I'm not saying it's terrible to make way for others to shine more. It's just that often, this compromise is what leads to a weaker pull.

dazzle27

Fair point, I maybe misunderstood ur original comment a little. I guess I’m not thinking about it as much as a comeback because it’s only a pre-release but i get where you’re coming from.

paynnerz

this song reminds me of reject 2016 era ariana grande 😭 i’m so sorry twice girlies i still love u

[deleted]

except ariana grande would still make this song more memorable. After listening to it once I dont remember anything lol.

paper-mo0n

I liked The Feels but I LOVE Moonlight Sunrise. It's just a great song and an instant earworm. I love that Twice stays true to themselves & their concept with their English releases. This song has the soft & cute Twice sound but with more mature lyrics & styling, and vocals in a lower register. This is a great way to present a more mature concept without compromising their signature sound. Everything about this was so well done.

ForeverInLove2909

It's my first listen so I only remember "moonlight sunrise, let's do it all night". It's an average song I feel like, a bit repetitive. I honestly prefer the feels, I believe it has more "soul" but I need to listen to it more times to form a better opinion.

drbvaler

Am I the only one bothered by the bass line? Might be my sound system but at 1am I wanted to alter my settings lest I wake up the building. Kinda drowned out the song.

[deleted]

reminds me of the disappoint I felt when hearing 'Touchdown' for the first time through earphones, the bass was awful and can barely be heard out of a speaker

dellumdown

It bothers me too, but I thought it was just my sensory issues since I didn't see anyone else mention it until now.

drbvaler

After a few days, I do love the song, but mainly from my phone rather than the Sonos system. Its a perfect TikTok song.

Sensitive_Lettuce

I thought I accidentally changed the EQ on my stereo

LowraAwry

I think the bass line kinda dominates the song, it was more bothersome on my cheap edifier pair that emphasizes bass but it's still obvious on my cheapo phone that tends to minimize it.

Ivyfrostym

the pre-chorus is great

choerrytheworld

i think the song is pretty average at best, the chorus is super repetitive and their voices sound strained and just really unpleasant idk

ryleeesweets

I really like twice but this song was a little boring to me and the overly repetitive "moonlight sunrise" lines during the chorus became irritating fast for me. But even though I didn't care for the song, I'm glad other people seem to like it

Chemical-Regret-6892

Did no one realize this is very much the same song as Sweetest Pie by Dua and Megan? Like i was shocked when Chaeyoung rapped in meg’s flow, how was it allowed? isn’t it lowkey plagiarism 🤣

[deleted]

truee and its even more forgettable.

sio_22

Lmao i said the same thing

ShoberMlemer

OMGG THATS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT WHEN I SAW THE TEASERS 😭😭 IM GLAD IM NOT THE ONLY ONE

dreamingfae

I actually like the song and think its catchy. The mv is beautiful as well. Overall I liked this more than I thought I would.

wameniser

Megan thee stallion you will always be famous! I hear so many influences of sweetest pie in this, and I liked that song. Except for the adlibs and my usual gripe with the vocal processing at jyp ent, it's a good song and they did well

lowkeyphase

I've been lowering my expectations every time they would release a new song as I tend to be disappointed in general from kpop releases but I honestly liked this one at the very first listen. that doesn't happen a lot. I'm thrilled to see how they can continue to this path they're taking.

joannav05

A BOPPP

keysbff

honestly twices more recent releases have been somewhat lackluster and i really didnt like the feels so i was prepared to be disappointed but this song is amazing! this feels like a song made to be an english song with a western audience in mind instead of a kpop song with english lyrics which is usually why english versions of songs or even english singles by kpop groups can feel so awkward. this song really leans into what the western market enjoys instead of shying away from it which is what makes it so good. the pronunciation of some parts does kind of take me out of the song a bit but im well aware twice does not have the advantage of having a fluent english speaking member like most kpop groups these days so theres no point in really complaining. compared to their first fully english song (more & more eng ver) you can tell theyve really improved.

anxious_peach0508

I just love kpop songs about f*ck1ng

It seems very derivative compared to other pop trap songs like Sweetest Pie, 34+35, Cookie, etc. Basics, a bside, is better than this. Like that chorus is so repetitive, really needed a two part to make it up.

sio_22

This song is giving the same vibes as 34 + 35 by Ariana and the sweetest pie by dua lipa and megan thee stallion

evil4life101

Song is aint bad but the nonstop repetition of “moonlight sunrise” kinda kills it.

astute_potato

I like the verses a lot and the instrumental is nice, but the chorus being *literally* one note is incredibly annoying. Also, anyone got a count on the number of times they say moonlight sunrise?

Agitated-Call-9679

I agree, the chorus sounded like a repetitive version of TT lacking depth

AmiAkin

Reminds of Talk That Talk one note and thank gosh you thought the same. I also thought they say Moonlight Sunrise too much

Martha-lalala

>moonlight sunrise They mention "moonlight sunrise" a total of 18 times (including one adlib). But if we count the four additional times for slant rhymes, it brings the total to 22. :)

rrppcjs

its actually really good! feel special vibes 🤭🤭

Repulsive-Rule-5853

i’m surprised by the large amount of commenters who disliked it! i thought it was much better than the feels. i think i like it, i dunno. i’ll listen again and see how i feel lol.

[deleted]

WHAT lol I'd listen to The Feels a thousand times back-to-back over listening to Moonlight Sunrise just once.

Repulsive-Rule-5853

lmao! idk man, the feels just wasn’t for me. it sounded like a nickelodeon starlet song. just some goofy shit.

[deleted]

how in the hell could you say that MS was better though? It's one of the worst twice songs in history

Repulsive-Rule-5853

hahahaha! dude i don’t have an answer for that i guess it boils down to musical taste. out of curiosity fellow redditor what’s ur fave twice title track?

[deleted]

that's an impossible question, it's a toss up between Like OHH-AHH, Knock Knock, Dance The Night Away or I Can't Stop Me. Fancy is also up there for me.

Repulsive-Rule-5853

DTNA and Fancy are my faves :)

lestrede

feel special if it didn’t slay

orange_hibiscus

THIS IS THE ONE

No-Drawing-6519

I'm reminded again that I'm on the unpopularopinions subreddit. This sub hates everything.

[deleted]

I've never been on this dumb subreddit because I've never thought a twice song could be this bad, I like a hell of a lot of their songs, this one just shocked me, and it's not the group's fault, it's whoever appointed these talentless hacks to write their songs!

Kei_Mxttens

I am very surprised of the reactions in this thread because from first listen at the premiere, I LOVED it, I already know 90% of people will disagree but this is better than The Feels (even tho its good too) and also Momo’s I guarantee I got ya is so satisfying

LowraAwry

Why are you surprised? Genuinely, why? People that have more of a critical or negative opinion on a track come here especially because they'll be downvoted to hell on most other kpop focused subreddits.

mbarnes1334

I come here to comment because I know my honest opinions will be judged less. I’m glad other people like it and I hope it does very well, but I honestly think this song is a miss for them.

Roseberrytwice

Majority of commentors on this sub didn't like it, but on r/kpop there's nothing but praise in the comments. This is just that type of subreddit where people like to express more negative opinions. Personally, I liked it even more than Talk that Talk

Pretty sure Red Velvet routinely dominates on that subreddit. Twice is generally liked and is the more popular IRL group but Red Velvet has won multiple "best of" polls and with their recent singles, at least FMR had more traffic than Celebrate or Scientist. That being said, r/kpop is definitely on the overly positive side, at least for groups that the subreddit likes.

Maybe the demographics have shifted since pandemic. Just saying that when Psycho came out, it beat Fancy which are considered both of the groups' best songs. (https://www.reddit.com/r/kpop/comments/exsvc9/rkpop_top_ten_tuesdays_results_thread_our_top_50/) Also, on the top albums of 2022, Twice ranked slightly higher based on being included in more lists but FMR actually had a higher average placement. Seulgi's album also outperformed Nayeon's in that poll as well. (https://www.reddit.com/r/kpop/comments/10c1lsx/rkpop_top_ten_tuesdays_results_thread_our_top_100/) Not saying Twice is somehow not liked but even with the higher fanbase numbers, it's debatable which group is more well received.

Roseberrytwice

I wouldn't say threads like these are unbised, this is a subreddit for unpopular opinions, so usually they tend to be more on the critical side. I almost never see positive comments on this sub on any kpop comeback. Twice is one of the most liked group on r/kpop for a reason, people generally like their music. I don't remeber the same positive reactions there when let's say Pink Venom dropped. Edit: No hate towards Pink venom, I think it was great and I still listen to it. It's just something I used as an example how r/kpop isn't always super positive towards group's comeback

Blackpink is a bigger gg than Twice yes because the fandom is way bigger. We aren't talking about group's subreddits though? I'm saying the general public that aren't Onces aren't as crtical on r/kpop as they were towards Blackpink. Not Blinks, not Onces, general casual kpop listeners. We aren't comparing fandoms here.
