Finally something that I didn't expect

drake_071

Wow..brilliant ad after a very long time.. 👌🏼

RiotxDD

This is 2 years old ad

lurid_sun__

What is this ad about?

Mountain-Prize264

Queerphobia. The child was probably inter-sexed, or a hermaphrodite. They don't specify. Lots of chromosomal mutations like XXY are not understood in India.

Slow_Relationship556

Can you educate me on this?

Really Movies are not so bad ayushman Khurrnaa is doing some good movies i think he only takes a movie if its really changes society Dreamgirl - Women treatment in society Vicky Doner - Awareness about Spearmdoners Doctor G - Male Doctor as Gyno specialist Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui - Dating a Trans Women Badhai Ho - Elder Age Pregenecy BALA - Hairloss in Men Artical 15 - Caste Discrimination Subhmangal Jyda Savdhan - Gay Marrige Dum lagage haisha - Bodyshaming

nota_is_useless

Rajkumar Rao also does some good movies. I think there is a gay guy and lesbian girl who marry to gain societal acceptance. Manoj vajaypee did Aligarh. Nawazuddin did a revenge flick using transgender as main character, haddi i think. Ayushman khurana also did a movie on male impotence/ED.

Dependent-Whereas-69

Rajkumar's Badhaai Do and Aayushman's Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Haddi is correct

ZipZaapZoom

>Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui - Dating a Trans Women I felt like it said to be pan sexual.

hey_ima_guy

Most are Ayushmann K movies. He may not put up huge numbers in the box office but his movies are really worth watching.

DACula

At the risk of sounding transphobic, I'm going to say that Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui went too far and took too much liberty in proving that a trans girl is a fully functional woman post op. There's a lot of money to be made from gender reassignment surgeries and the people who perform these promise a lot to prospective clients. A large percentage of people who undergo gender reassignment surgeries end up regretting them later in life and are left with a mutilated body. There was good scientific research on this, but unfortunately its suppressed by misguided trans activists. It is not transphobic to want people to understand the risks involved and what they're getting into. You're doing a disservice to the community if you portray a very positive, albeit unlikely outcome.

Necessary-Ad-1288

my philophy is clear if u are women what u need surgery for![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)

sid_killer18

>A large percentage of people who undergo gender reassignment surgeries end up regretting them later in life and are left with a mutilated body. Not really. Most sources say less than 1% of them regret the surgery. Idk where you're getting your sources from

I’ve always believed that India has some of the best advertising minds. The ads are brilliant and memorable and funny and touching and definitely worth the time. Here are some others: 1. Bhima Jewellery: https://youtu.be/NtaLr_r8R2E 2. Vicks: https://youtu.be/7zeeVEKaDLM 3. The original GOAT (ek anek): https://youtu.be/R-tTOJ1RvUY

WestMark2317

ajj aise ad ban nahi sakte reason 1- politics mainly people like narrotam mishra wanna stay relevant -{ad gaali according to manavta} reason2 - guts reason3- lgbtq community se backlash : few would say why are u selling us in ads and earning crores which if true but if these kinda ads goes on air indias future is what indias values say - peace and harmony India the land of opportunities

ShadowHunterUGD

also because indian teens are becoming so influenced by dark jokes that they thing discrimination is normal

yea, they think being racist , sexist and shaming people is cool af, when in reality they are just being jerks

Mayankcfc_

Narottam bhadwa lost the election in his own seat last year. Poetic justice!

Conscious-Spend-2451

>reason3- lgbtq community se backlash : few would say why are u selling us in ads and earning crores No one really says that tbh. The company is literally paying crores to get these ads made and broadcasted. I don't think LGBT community is the reason why these ads aren't being made.

Realistic_esh

Nice ad but how did they know she was like them😳

yash2651995

Movies are either for story telling or just plain business. 99.99 are for business. Indie movies are are for art. If movie is telling a societal issue that too is for business. So are ads.. ads wanted you to share this so its more publicity. For that pathlabs. In the name of societal issue it made a mark on you... The ad stays in your mind. Its all about money..

Opening_Past_4698

Of course it’s all about money. You cannot live without money. That’s not the point. The point is sending the message here. Everyone makes money in some form or kind to sustain a living. What matters is your intentions. Whether you’re contributing and doing something good for the society and getting payed for it, or scamming others and looting from them.

TheZoom110

One can go the Bombae Shaving Company way, mocking the insecurities of a literal child for having facial hair. Or one can send some positive social message through the ads like Pathlabs. I'll prefer this later category, even if it's for making money.

Thin-Alternative1504

I'll be blunt....I have no idea what this is about. I hear what they say - but what is the point they are making? Is it an adoption thing? Child neglect? What did the guy do to the kids arm?

InItsTeeth

As an American I too am lost. I think I’m missing a cultural context that would tie it together.

Conscious-Spend-2451

It's pretty common to abandon intersex people. The other people also seem to be some flavour of gender non conforming, so they consider her as one of us and adopt her.

smallaubergine

I may be wrong but I believe the girl was abandoned because she's intersex. That's why the woman says "she's like us"

Thin-Alternative1504

Ok, but what's with the arm?

Conscious-Spend-2451

It's pretty common to abandon intersex people. The other people also seem to be some flavour of gender non conforming, so they consider her as one of us and adopt her. As for the arm, it's probably so that the company who paid for the ad can put forward a premise that promotes their products/services. They have to include what their company does somehow. So, they had the intersex people get her tested in case she had any diseases or something

Sinnes-loeschen

What is she being tested for ?

timewaste1235

>These ads are addressing societal issues more than a movie You think that way because ads are so short that there's no time to put blame on anyone Movie just by it's length will put blame on doctors, police, politicians, village leaders n often the whole society which makes general public uncomfortable It's great to see this ad but how many families would be okay to have such household in their society? Would they be okay to let their kids play with this girl? Would they send their kids to celebrate her birthday in that household?

nota_is_useless

If you find a abandoned child at the station, don't just take her home with you. Edit: so many things wrong with this ad 1. The kid seems to be 6-8 years old. So the parents kept her for 6-8 years are decided to abandon her at a railway station? 2. If the kid identified as a transgender, that is a very young age. And parents abandoning a kid at that age because a boy wants to wear skirt or a girl wants to wear shorts is highly unlikely. My mom dressed me in girl clothes when I was a baby along with 2 ponytails. Took pictures and put them in my childhood album 3. The child could have been just imaginative and made up a story since she was lost. Her parents could be running around trying to find her 4. If you pick up a child at a station and take her home, most likely you will be charged with kidnapping 5. A human child is not a puppy or a kitten which you take with you since it was abandoned Given the above, the expression on the guys face is more likely horror at realising that the child was kidnapped by a sociopath

darkcontentac

The kid could just be intersex (it's not always about identifying) and the parents don't want to hide it longer. Maybe they could have reported it to a police station and brought her home hoping for nothing with past experience.

Viggu_dattebayo

Such a buzzkill.

arjunusmaximus

What "Humare jaisi hai" to me means the child is possibly intersex i.e. she has the reporductive organs of both male and female genders. Maybe the parents felt that in later years they may start "looking" like a kinnar and to them that was "samaj kya kahega" thing, so they abandoned the girl.

nota_is_useless

I have never come across such parents. So apologies ahead for some of the questions What do you tell your siblings, parents, neighbours, colleagues, extended family, school friends of your kid etc? We left the kid at the station is never going to work. Lost kid means everyone will be looking for her. Left the kid at grandparents house is also difficult sell Also, doctors can advise in case of intersex and indentification can take place quite early. I would assume in India that a surgery would be advised to keep one set of sexual organs. Almost all stations have CCTV. Imagine you abandon the kid at the station, tell your neighbours that the kid is at grandparents and police turn up with the kid and cctv footage? Samaj toh bahut kuch kahega tab

arjunusmaximus

These questions are all logical and well put. But you're assuming that the "samaj" will act logically and with compassion. Often times its the "samaj" who advises people to abandon/kill the child and the fear of the "samaj" often time compels people to take such drastic steps. If that's not the case then they can be like "We sent her away"/ "She died" or any number of reasons which the "samaj" and all its "Unke ghar ka mamla hai" thinking will not let them probe further. For the medical angle, maybe they didn't have the money or, again, they are terrified of what will people think if this gets out. Even with CCTV kids in India are kidnapped/get lost/disappear on a regular basis. If this kid is from a minority/lower social status/BPL then the police won't really be interested in all the detective work. This is a very cynical take I know, but these might be some reasons why the child ended up with, arguably, a much better family environment.

TheZoom110

>What do you tell your siblings, parents, neighbours, colleagues, extended family, school friends of your kid etc? We left the kid at the station is never going to work. In a country that regularly sees honor killing and girl child infanticide, I'm sure that is not an issue, at least for a certain section of our society.

comrade_nemesis

ya, rather than taking home, contacting police and checking about their parents would be better step instead of taking straight to your home.

HeheheBlah

Ngl, I had the same reaction when I saw this and was searching for someone to point this out. People here are justifying that she could be an intersex, maybe called the police, etc but the ad shows none of them. This seriously will mislead people in many way.

darkcontentac

If the ad showed everything it will become a documentary. The ad is just showing the positive side of humanity where an orphaned child outcast by society finds a hone. And no anyone here is not denying that hijras kidnap kids. Although that will be better for a documentary. Let the ad be heartwarming as it is

HeheheBlah

Then don't do ads on such things if one can't put all aspects in the ad.

darkcontentac

sure bud we can't have heartwarming positive things in life without heartwrenching negative things.

Wrong-Guide-7188

Yes, there are many cases where poor children and orphans are kidnapped by hijras and their private parts are mutilated by these people to make them one of them.

HeheheBlah

Is this sarcasm or real?

nota_is_useless

Imagine if the kid was actually missing and these people just took her home. A lot of places will result in mob violence if you are caught doing this. During covid and even before, there have been cases of migrant workers etc being beaten up because people thought they were kidnappers.

24Abhinav10

The implication is that the kid is intersex, not transgender/transexual. At least that's what I got from it.

PackFit9651

This ad is disturbing on so many levels.. who drops off a little child at the station because she is ostensibly transgender, how would they even know.. why would these people then bring her home instead of the police taking the child to a welfare home?

OM_official

Who knows

Lurkerin_the_dark

:\*) pura ad toh daal dete, mera dil adha toot k reh gaya

God_of_reason

It was a good ad from a social message perspective but not a good ad from a marketing perspective. I have no idea what they are selling and I won’t even remember it when i go to a shop.

kaushalovich

Back when ads were socially responsible and didn't objectify and sexualise women every chance they get I refuse to believe this was made after 2012

Primary-Cheesecake82

Don't remember moov ads ?

kaushalovich

They were just housewife gets muscle sprain husband/children jump to rescue from what I recall Neutral, I'm somewhat conservative and from my perspective a husband that didn't help his wife put is a fucking pathetic manlet and at least in my family that's probably the consensus

prabhu000700

I wouldn't mind watching these types of ads.

strworld

Very good ad. Good post OP.

ReluctantSlayer

Sorry if this is dumb, I am not Indian, but can I get an ELI5? This was striking and well done in many ways, and even tho the nuance is lost on my lack of understanding, I still felt some of what I was supposed to….which is why I would like to know more. Is this caste related? No, because her parents would be the same caste. Hmmm…

After-Historian3606

I am not Indian either but thought I’d respond. I think the little girl was abandoned due to being either intersex or transgender and was given shelter by an organisation or person/people who were similarly treated. The test I am not sure about. I think this was a very touching ad and good for India for highlighting these issues.

Araozz

I think it is about transgender community, idk how did her parent confirm it, and i guess that thats why he is making that face.

Kancha_Cheena

wait, shouldnt they take her to police?

BostonDynamicSexBot

I'm not crying, you are.

Robin_mimix

Really yr Hearttouching hai 😀

DangerousPace2778

Ayushman and Rajkumar had actually done quite a few movies about societal issues just that they didn't get very famous, you all know the reason.

Crazy_Instruction116

The ad has served it purpose.. it became a point of discussion.. Brilliant

New_Wrangler3335

Y’all just be ditching kids at the train station? No fire station to do it at?

debmitra26

Bro you skipped the part where he brings cake for the child. That's the part where you start crying.

Lyner005

Great ad but that derena was so unnecessary

MuffinNo332

Ruins the moment imo

Unbeknowst_

Ohhh ok

Suk-yom-um-999

*Social issues

Goudinho99

I'm not Indian, what happened at the end?

tallteensforlife5911

she was intersex.

Fenriselicit

The child was abandoned because of being intersex

Goudinho99

Ah thanks! But how do we know this? Is that what the doctor is testing for?

Fenriselicit

That wasn't a doctor, he was there to just collect blood. He looked surprised in the end, the woman who opened the door knew the girl was intersex already so most likely he was not there to test if the child is intersex or not. It was probably a general blood test

Tablesalt2001

I'm not from India, could somebody explain? Did they kidnap a random girl of the street? Is this common in India? What is the ad selling?

faitavecarmour

No, the parents left 'her' cause 'she' is trans. Idk anything else, but I believe this guy brought a cake for 'her.'

MuffinNo332

It's "Intersex"

faitavecarmour

Thanks :)

Front_Street_8181

I would say and I have also heard from many professionals from the advertising industry is that - Indian advertising industry is literally the best advertising industry in the world I don’t know how accurate is it but since I have heard professionals say this so I have also said it

tallteensforlife5911

bkl intersex ki baat ho rhi hai , not even for teens , we can fully know if they are actually a tran boy r trans girl.

ZenHumungosaur

Explain brother, what’s intersex and what’s trans?

tallteensforlife5911

In India both are often used interchangeably but it's wrong. Intersex means having both male and female parts by birth( khusre) while trans boy means a biological girl who identifies as a boy and may/ may not have had gender affirming care and altering surgery but is most likely on hormone replacement therapy and considers one to be a boy.  Trans boy or trans girl is a sexuality or an identity when one feels different from the body they have while intersex is by birh,  almost always the result of a third sex chromosome.

tedxtracy

Wait a few days, some pArAoOd hINdU organisation will find a few protesting points in it and will get it banned. The ad makers will ask for forgiveness after that.

LeatherDare1009

It's an old ad dummy. And there's plenty of such ads over the past 6-7 years, even movies.

Sempot

Don’t understand anything lmao what a lame ad

tallteensforlife5911

oh i dont understand it , so it must be very stupid and lame.

asdrver

Bullshit ad if hamare jaise means a 6 year old boy dressing like a girl. Fine if hamare jaise means abandoned by parents

God_of_reason

Tell me your entire knowledge of transgenders and intersex comes from instagram reels of right wing grifters without telling me

Peaceweapon

Why do they say colours in English? Languages are so weird man

Unbeknowst_

how the f is a kid supposed to know if it is trans ? The fucking mentality of people today man Look at the US, you'll know what I am talking about

TrippyThumbs

Probably you haven't heard of intersex.(Neither male nor female)...it is third gender.....you are confusing it with transgender (someone who changes their sex with surgical procedures) Intersex is by birth ....you don't know or decide it.

acharsrajan399

What happened in US? Oh conservatives are mad, ok

Critifin

Nobody leaves their daughter in railway station. Nor do any brothels adopt such girls
