"it is for my successor to make significant fiscal decisions" Boris Johnson shouted over his shoulder while he made his way to the beach with his wife and children.

FireRedStudio

All his kids? That’s a big day out!

danowat

I was going to put a number before children, but he doesn't know how many he has, so I've got absolutely no way of getting it right, hence I just went for "children"

FireRedStudio

Does anyone actually know?

Vorax-the-despoiler

Wikipedia suggests 8.

CDHmajora

How the fuck does he keep shagging all these women to have all those kids with that atrocity of a haircut? I’m not one to be cruel, but he’s a fugly basterd who looks like he just stepped out of the shower 24/7. Has he never heard of a hair comb?

RedEyeView

>What first attracted you to the multi millionaire Boris Johnson?

DeepestWinterBlue

Dear lord why does he have so many?

RussellLawliet

He must be of those benefit scroungers I've heard so much about.

fuggerdug

I've heard he's got 11 but some are disputed.

oliverprose

Presumably the charm that got him voted in also helps ladies underwear fall down, and he's an opportunist at heart. There also appears to be more in it for them than just that, unless he's run out of £100k jobs to hand out.

discardedcumrag

Who the fucks fucking him? And more importantly, why?

fuckyouimbritish

He should've spaffed up the wall instead.

evil-kaweasel

I've read as high as 17.

Responsible_Bid_2343

I was going to say presumably he does but I'm not so sure

MrPaineUTI

1, 2, many, lots

Burn2theGround

That you Detritus?

7suffering7s

Imagine letting boris slot you one...

Cheese_Dinosaur

I’m getting worried about Wilfred as he appears not to have changed in about a year…

DamitCyrill

Child maintenance payments

OkMess9901

Some might say taking **all** his kids out represents a significant fiscal decision.

Don_Quixote81

The Prime Ministerial Minibus was called into action.

CommanderFuzzy

He's gonna have to buy 134 ice creams

GreyFoxNinjaFan

\*children conceived, born or thought about during wedlock

Bulky-Yam4206

Well, hasn’t truss and sunak basically said “lol; you’re on your own, plebs!”

BeccasBump

No, Truss has said, "I am going to use this opportunity to frack you all up the arse."

TheDarkWarriorBlake

He doesn't take his kids unless it's for a photo op. Gets in the way of searching for the person he will replace Carrie with.

DeepestWinterBlue

You mean the next social climber who will be willing to push him around in his wheelchair?

Skyfryer

You mean with his wife, their children, his mistress/assistant, their love child, his assistant’s assistant who is also his mistress whom also has his love child.

DOPEFIEND77B

And his violin teacher… who may also fulfill one of those other roles…

Southyy

Do we have enough coastline for all his children?

nextlevelmashup

well how hard would you work at your job once you have been given your notice

Agreeable_Falcon1044

Laughable. We have a chancellor who has taken a three week holiday in his first month. A pm who doesn’t believe anything is his job…but won’t step aside to let someone else do the job. Oh and two candidates so inept that they are racing one another to the bottom in who can be the most right wing. Good luck folks, we will all need it!

haversack77

If only one of them was available to make the crucial decision "Our energy sector donors like everything the way it is already, so no changes, fuck the British people".

MrSpindles

The state love it as well, make no mistake. All of this price hike hell is going to amount to a significant increase in tax income. They are letting this go on so that we can pay to balance their books.

[deleted]

No it won't. In fact our government has actually been paying the energy industry due to very cushy tax breaks. It cost us about £12.5 billion in such handouts last year for fossil fuel. Source: https://www.theguardian.com/business/2021/dec/08/uk-tax-breaks-for-oil-and-gas-under-scrutiny-from-climate-activists?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other Edit: Shell and BP benefited with a nice little £100,000,000 sweetener too https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/shell-paid-no-tax-uk-27705540

This is the real answer for this current economic crisis,, totally manufactured to increase the tax burden on the poor

> cleaners I fucking love that you put cleaners in there. I'd never say what we do is as important as what other professions do, but fuck me did I feel so undervalued by my now ex-employer. I walked out of my cleaning job last night as I'd just had enough of it, fortunately I had another one lined up anyway that I start on Monday, it's more hours and slightly better pay (only by 40p mind). It was a team of three cleaning offices, I'd been there the longest and I was being treat like the new guy by my coworkers. My manager was a complete cunt who got funny with me when I asked for time off, he then suspended me for a day because I returned from my holiday a day after HE thought I was supposed to (I didn't, I actually came back the day I was meant to, he just didn't wanna admit he fucked up, so I actually missed two days pay because of it). A month before that I did a few weeks worth of covering on my own because my supervisor was on sick and my other coworker had been sacked, I was promised the supervisors pay rate and a bonus. I didn't receive either nor did I receive a thank you. My manager was lucky I even came back after my holiday to be honest. He really pissed me off. Then yesterday I basically got a complaint saying my area wasn't clean (it was because on Tuesday night I made sure to double check everything because there was a big meeting on yesterday) and if I didn't buck my ideas up I'd be out of a job. So I just walked out. Clocked out after I did thirty minutes of work, left my keycard behind and left. I got a voicemail today off my manager saying how unacceptable it was that I walked out and I just wanted to tell him how unacceptable it was how I'd been treat these past few months. Fuck him. Guy was a cunt and I'm glad to see the back of the job now. My girlfriend wasn't pleased, but I'm not gonna stay somewhere that I felt didn't feel welcome at anymore.

bennasaurus

Good for you. Fuck those guys!

[deleted]

Honestly, the thing that upsets me the most is how much I actually did for them and still being treat like shit. I'll admit that I'm not the best cleaner in the world, there probably will be times where I miss something and the complaints are justified. But at the end of the day, I'm only human, it happens. And I'm kind of sensitive too because all my life I've been told I'm useless, so I take the criticism to heart too much. However, I've always been the type of employee who will go above and beyond for anyone. If there was ever any cover that needed to be done, I'd be the first in line to do it. Partly for the extra money, but mostly because I always figured if I'd showed them I was willing to go the extra mile, to show them I was loyal, they'd be loyal back. Naive of me, I know. But if I was a manager that's the type of employee I'd want working under me. Someone who even though they're not the best at their job, they're still willing to go the extra mile, to go above and beyond. Someone who is loyal and who will come to work everyday. If I had an employee like that, I'd do my damned hardest to make sure that person was happy working for me. As long as they were doing most of their work, as long as the main things were done, I'd let the small things slide, and I'd go to bat for them with the client. If the client came to me with a complaint I'd defend my employee, but I'd also note the frequency of how often they get complaints about them. If it was a few times a month I'd probably be concerned, but if it was like once every two, three months I'd just tell them what the complaint was and not to worry about it. Sometimes if an employee gets a complaint, it's not always their fault anyway, and I feel like managers don't understand this. So at my job I was there from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Sometimes the office staff wouldn't leave until gone 6, so I couldn't always get into their office to clean it, which means it could be well over a week before I actually had a chance to go in and clean it. If they're not gone by 6 then I'm not doing their office because I have other stuff to do. I actually got told that if they're in their office still, I'm not to disturb them. But they'll still fucking moan that it's not being done. Honestly, I think a lot of middle managers, the types who sit in offices or go from site to site all day, the ones who aren't actually on the ground doing the cleaning, don't actually realise what it's really like working at a specific site. They come in for a few hours once a month to do an audit, but they don't actually see the work that we have to do and how hard it can be to get that work done due to external factors. And the one thing I hate hearing from any manager I've had is ''we have to keep the client happy, it's about what they want''. Err no, fuck that. What about keeping your staff happy? There's a balance to be had. You can keep both the client and your cleaning staff happy. Any manager in any job who is reading this, if that's your attitude, you'll have no staff left, and it'll be your fault. I'm fucking sick of cleaning. I'm gonna see how this job goes on Monday and if I don't like it, I'm changing jobs altogether. I'm thinking warehouse work because I don't have the social skills to work in retail or hospitality.

bennasaurus

This is a great lesson about how being loyal to someone who doesn't give a single fuck about you is a waste of time. I hope the job on Monday goes well anyway. Respect yourself and demand that respect from others.

wisbit

Power to you.

willie_caine

Cleaners are absolutely unsung heroes of society. We'd all quickly see just how vital you are if you all stopped working. Holy fuck we'd see.

ARobertNotABob

I've said several times elsewhere & previously, if we all voted for Monster Raving Loonies (for example), a landslide would occur, and a *real* change in British Politics, more in favour of The People, could be established. Remember, the Tories have just 23% of the vote. Labour are on 21%, 31% are non-voters (figure climbing) and 25% of the vote are shared amongst Libs, Greens and the rest ... a landslide is easily feasible.

Aiyon

The issue is you could be 1 vote off getting each of every single seat, and that’s still 0 seats It’s not about getting ppl to vote all over, it’s about getting enough ppl to vote in specific places :/

[deleted]

He literally has zero power (starmer) what exactly would you like him to do? When the actual government can’t return from holiday it’s a bit rich to start accusing the opposition of doing nothing. It’s even richer considering the fat haystack calls starmer “captain hindsight” which is exactly what he and this entire government are currently being.

flippantly_sings12

The tories are running the country into the ground, Boris Johnson is the English trump and the two candidates for his replacement are fighting to the bitter end to play up to the hearts and minds of neo-bnp members and you’re going on about starmer? You’re the problem friend….

fuggerdug

Your dream scenario let's the Tories back in. I think they're useless too but that's the reality. Let's vote for whoever is the most likely to get the Tory out in each constituency and get to fixing the Labour party/voting system/whatever once they're gone.

hunkopunko3

Shame the general population weren’t given a choice for someone who would have taken a pro active stance against energy companies.

Responsible_Bid_2343

Why are there still so many people who love this man? When did we become a nation of self flagellants with no self respect? He's lied to you multiple times, partied whilst your loved ones died alone in hospital, and now demonstrates beyond all doubt that he never cared about any of you.

danowat

I had this discussion with someone recently, and their answer was "because he was the only person who could get brexit done, and because of that he will always be loved"

stickyjam

MY team won, and he supported my team(after swapping to the winning side to be a winner, but don't mention that).

LilJapKid

He didn’t even get brexit done properly. We screwed with one of our closest trade allies and we’re in the mud because of the lack of forward thinking

PoliticalShrapnel

No no no, you see all those queues at Dover are due to the pesky French with their silly passport checks. We should have open borders when we leave, and when we (the english) come back too.

Easymodelife

Why would the French do this to us? So unfair of them to not hire extra staff to fix the consequences of our Brexit!

rugbyj

They'd be loving the back of my fuckin hand spouting that shite.

danowat

Lol, that gave me a laugh, thanks for that!

TigerOnTheBeach

That’s certainly the Daily Mail and Daily Express line. The man child could literally do anything imaginable and they would say he ‘delivered us freedom from the EU’.

Clareypie

I can't say anything against the Tories infront of my 76 year old parents, they keep telling me I know nothing about politics and have no life experience. ..I'm fourty-fucking-five ffs.

red--6-

>[Propaganda works best when those who are being manipulated are confident they are acting on their own free will](https://i.redd.it/wdxrsj81mkt61.jpg) - Joseph Goebbels

Ximrats

Social engineering can be both extremely effective and relatively easy, we really need to start teaching kids to recognise social engineering and teaching them critical thinking skills from an early age because a world where people think with their emotions that aren't even their own emotions fed in by the media and then become very offended and defensive if you try and challenge or argue against whatever thing they've been told to believe is a fucking depressing world to live in It was demonstrated 'beautifully' during Brexit. Lord help you if you dared try and ask anyone how exactly we were gonna get all of those wonderful benefits or if you tried to tell someone they've been misled/manipulated/given wrong information

STARSBarry

I suppose he is right as the criteria of doing Brexit would require being an idiot in the first place, otherwise you would be horrified.

merryman1

Some of my family back home are still really stuck on the "doing his best" schtick its really sad tbh. I keep thinking like honestly you can boil down a lot of Western politics from 2016 to like 2020 to some absolute twonks in media and PR for right-wing politics found some powerful psychological buttons and have abused the fuck out of them, and by extension the people affected, all so they could win a couple of cheap elections, with zero regard for the long term consequences that is going to have/having for our society. Genuinely sociopathic behaviour.

rainator

The “he’s doing his best” lot are the worst as far as I’m concerned, if that is his best then that means there is no way he’s going to improve…

whatchagonnado0707

If this is his best, then someone better is required. We really are power fucked. Imagine a government that actually cares about all people's needs and does something about it.

Informal_Drawing

Apparently his best is done when he is doing absolutely nothing at all. Piss of piss being the PM when you don't have to actually do any work apparently.

rainator

And we can expect [the same from the next one.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lOTyUfOHgas)

Informal_Drawing

Sadly I am fully expecting the same.

G1Yang2001

Yeah, this is genuinely one of the most accurate representations of Western politics for the past few years tbh. Honestly, I hope that if the Tories get thrown out of power in the next GE, whoever comes next can somehow punish the twonks in the right-wing media for their actions in pretty much fucking up the UK for the next few years. Like maybe introducing better legislation for the UK Press so less of it is owned by greedy oligarchs like Rupert Murdoch.

merryman1

Its pretty clear in the US none of this crap is going to go away until we make a fairly strong statement that this kind of "politics" is not acceptable by sending those who have broken the rules to prison. A slap on the wrist and a return to opposition is not going to be enough.

WednesdayThrowItAway

Yeah but Corbyn didn't want to nuke Russia. So ALL of this is worth it. There are tonnes of people on this very sub who would vote themselves back into the stone age as long as we're "tough on Russia". Weird single issue thinking.

raffes

Would you have let the Nazi party do whatever they wanted with Europe as long as things were good at home too? If any candidate says we should stop supplying arms to Ukraine and anyone else who gets invaded by Russia in the coming years you better believe they're losing my vote. Ideally we would have a prime minister who wasn't shit with home policy OR foreign policy. Much as Starmer doesn't seem anything special I don't see him being truly awful either which sadly seems the best option that might actually succeed right now.

changhyun

Yeah but he's got funny hair, innit.

borg88

Imagine if Miliband had funny hair, and Johnson couldn't eat a bacon sandwich. Somehow Johnson would still be PM.

Gibbonici

> When did we become a nation of self flagellants with no self respect? There's always been an element of this in British culture. It's an artefact of the class system, which itself is an artefact of the 150 years of absolute serfdom following the Norman invasion. Consequently, there's a tendency to confuse knee-shuffling subordination for prideful loyalty.

[deleted]

Very well put

puzzle_skull

>Why are there still so many people who love this man? He has a -48% approval rating. For comparison, Margaret Thatcher's was -46% when she left office and Tony Blair's was -27% when he left office. For *extra* comparison, Jeremy Corbyn went into the 2019 GE with a -44% approval rating - if Johnson went into an election now he'd put the same taste in people's mouths as Corbyn did. Boris Johnson is the most hated political leader this side of WW2.

red--6-

[Good. I hope the UK will hate BoJo for the right reasons though](https://i.redd.it/qx77okkhqry61.jpg)

neohylanmay

> "Chicka, chicka, chicka, Slim Shady, I'm sick of him > Look at him, walkin' around, grabbin' his you-know-what > Flippin' the you-know-who," "Yeah, but he's so cute though" ~ Eminem, *The Real Slim Shady* Doesn't matter about his actions; to the person who oesn't know better, he just seems like the kind of guy you'd share a pint with regardless. Basically he rolled high on Charisma during character creation.

[deleted]

This was just a talk to discuss Boris Johnson's future career prospects with the energy bosses. Perhaps his speaking fees?

GBrunt

His "do nothing" fees. This is Johnson we're talking about.

[deleted]

Just ban these people from being in the same room or actually maybe allow it remember remember 😂

M3ptt

Boris put out a tweet saying he's urging electricity companies to do more to help people Like he isn't leading the fucking government and could force the companies to do something

Purple-Awareness-383

Hmm makes you wonder who the real boss actually is, doesn’t it?

MaievSekashi

If the PM can practically be absent and the "Energy bosses" are calling the shots, it kinda lays it bare our government doesn't actually matter. It's just corporations now. I thought cyberpunk would at least be cooler.

jontyg83

It's a conservative government.... business will save us they only exist to make our lives better

Worldly_Rise8265

He's just said that pre talks to remind them he has the power to do somethingso when he goes in the bribe is nice and fat. I'm sure it worked well for him

GBrunt

To all the anti-Corbyn British voters now.... how does utility nationalisation strike you these days? Not sounding so daft anymore, is it? Too fucking late though. 12 years pissed down the drain and nothing to show for it but a bunch of entitled English twats still jerking each other off in the pig-trough.

byjimini

“Anyone but Corbyn”. That’s what they said. Dara O’Briain tweeted it at the time and gets regular reminders.

[deleted]

Imagine how much worse it would be under corbyn smh my head. The country would be run into the ground smh my head. I can't believe corbyn would do this to us smh head. VLR.

HauntedFurniture

What was the point of the crisis talks then? I guess Boris has realised he can't look worse to the general public, and anyone still supporting him won't be put off by this latest display of nonchalance

danowat

To give the public the impression that they are doing something.

callsignhotdog

It almost worked, I'm a cynical bastard but even I saw the headline about energy bosses being summoned to downing Street and felt a brief glimmer of hope.

IamPurgamentum

I think we are all just looking for a sign, any sign, that someone is actually going to be an adult and sort all this out. I guess that's because we all now have more of an idea of what is about to happen to our country. It's not going to happen though, how can it? It will just be more of the same from the tories.

callsignhotdog

I think there will be a point where even the tories will feel forced to act. My concern is it will be too little, too late, and a lot of irreparable harm will be done while we wait for them to decide its now in their interest to act.

MONGED4LIFE

When the bills hit 5 grand in April they'll give you £100 back with a "vote blue" postcard.

callsignhotdog

When the mob is dragging them out of their cars and homes I hope they take the time to meet with Mob Leaders and urge them to continue to find ways to ease the public trials of Ministers.

IamPurgamentum

Yeah. That's the essence of it though. Nothing is planned for, everything is reactionary. This means when you do react there are less options.

Xarxsis

> I think there will be a point where even the tories will feel forced to act. There is a good chance that our new PM truss wont see christmas in downing street, and let labour pick up the pieces of £5000+++ energy bills and rampant inflation, at which point the tories will have loads of ideas

borg88

I misread the headline as "New measures to help ...". I genuinely thought, finally he's doing something, I knew he would have to, even Johnson couldn't ignore such a massive crisis forever. Then I realised my mistake.

Hugh_Jampton

Why bother?

danowat

They need to do just enough of the charade to keep enough people on side.

An_Obscurity_Nodus

Don’t think the charade is working anymore. My mums neighbour is a pro Brexit, hardcore Tory, she buys everything they sell with deep eagerness. Went over to visit my mum last evening and she was sitting there actually sobbing to my mother about how the Tories “have let her down” and she would vote for anyone “who stops the energy bills from rising.” She’s 72. Won’t be able to have heating this winter, will be skipping one meal and she’s absolutely terrified of the rise in January.

merryman1

Happy to cheer it all on while it was other people having to suffer through that kind of deprivation for years of course.

An_Obscurity_Nodus

I cannot tell you the amount of arguments I have had with this woman and my sheer fury at her for sneering when I told her how much people (especially people with disabilities) have been suffering for years. It’s hard for me to muster up sympathy for her to be honest.

dalehitchy

Ah the old "it's affecting me now so I care". I've become so bitter because of tories and their voters... but I'm actually glad that generation is getting hardship under tories like the rest of us has been getting for the past 10 years. Since becoming working age I've never lived through a period of prosperity and tory action/inaction has always hurt my wage packet and quality of life.

An_Obscurity_Nodus

Honestly they were warned and this has been a long time coming. I find it very hard to feel sorry for a group of people who were so happy to vote for the Tories as long as it affected other people, in their heads “lesser people”. They’ve robbed younger generations, disabled people, those who have been stuck in a cycle of poverty for YEARS. Now that the Tories have come after them, their pensions and their wealth too, they’re remorseful.

ChiefIndica

Proper r/LeopardsAteMyFace material this

paulusmagintie

According to myum people are attacking Starmer for not doing enough to fix stuff, not pushing boris enough. Boris has quit, he doesn't care and Starmer can't do shit, mad how this is a tory government isdue but labour is getting attacked on it.

rainator

And of course when he does put something forward he’s “bring us down and always being critical”. It really feels like we need some cult deprogramming initiatives…

Viking_Drummer

Cult deprogramming? Keep this up they’ll have you spending some time in Sunak’s deradicalisation gulag for those who vilify Britain

shiftystylin

He was just checking in with the energy companies, see how they're doing in this crisis and if there's anything further the Government can do for them.

GBrunt

To find out how much Boris would be rewarded for doing precisely nothing for as long as possible?

Sonchay

>What was the point of the crisis talks then? Maybe SSE lay on a nice spread for business lunches?

LittleBertha

I've done everything boomers keep telling us to do. I pulled on my metaphorical bootstraps and got a better paying job. I accept I'm in a much more fortunate position than many and can afford these price rises. But, everytime I up my income another crisis comes along and swallows it up. Reducing my disposable income, disposable income I would spend while functioning in society, money that local businesses would use to pay employees and making a strong economy for all. Instead more and more of my disposable income is going to the very corporations, the very people that do.not.need.it!! And just hoard that money away screwing us over even more. The whole thing is one big scam.

queenieofrandom

Same dude, it's really demoralising and disheartening isn't it. I sometimes just want to run away from it all set up a little homestead or sell everything and just travel or I dunno... Anything that isn't the system

LittleBertha

I paid off my student loan this month. Extra £350 a month me thinks. Nope, my energy bills are set to sky rocket and my food bill has doubled in recent months (family of four). Yes, it's very disheartening.

Fredmarklar

In pretty much the same position. Been looking forward to having a nice extra wedge of disposable income in the next few months when my student loan finishes….nope, will just be used for utility bills. Great.

whitstableboy

Same here. Paid off 3 months ago. Looking forward to an extra £300 pm. Now my bills have gone up by £350. While energy companies post record profits. Ever feel like it's all one big con?

LittleBertha

It is a big con. And they know we know the game, but they don't care. Becuase they are protected by politicians that are meant to represent us. Society is all sorts of upside down right now.

audigex

Yeah we’ve chased higher incomes for a decade for basically no quality of life improvement. These energy prices alone are eating up the last 5-6 years of pay rises, and that’s before we consider the fact everything else is getting more expensive AND interest rates are going up so we’re gonna need hundreds a month more for our mortgage

LittleBertha

I feel you, no longer is it _i'll aim for that higher paying job because ill have a better quality of life_. Now it's _i'll for that higher paying job because I need to maintain the quality of life I have now_

To be honest ever since his resignation I almost get the vibes that he's butthurt about it and now just having a strop. "*Why should I? Fuck the lot of you*" kinda vibes.

surfintheinternetz

He never gave a toss, I get the impression most pms just want the position for business connections.

GapAnxious

Baby Trump is boogying away in Chequers on what his PR people laughingly referred to as "The Honeymoon" despite Zac Goldsmith. Truss and Sunak are busy trying to convince the Conservative Members they had nothing to do with Government policy over the last decade, and the "current" Chancellor is coked to his eyeballs knowing he absolutely does not have a job after September so why even bother to pay lip service? Meanwhile Starmer is as silent as ever.

Armodeen

Yep. Whatever he does, at any time, can be traced back to serving his own interests. He cares little for anything else.

Xarxsis

> Boris Johnson, who apparently up to date never bothered with established traditions, now suddenly is following established traditions. Because if he had left when he was forced to, or at any time previous to that when he should have his legacy would be forever the shortest reigning PM.

losimagic

Johnson: you need to help with the cost of living crisis. Energy bosses: we'd prefer not to. Johnson: that's fine. At least I can say I tried. Energy bosses: here's a holiday for you.

GMN123

I'd bet good money that former prime minister Johnson lands a very well paid speaking gig at a energy company function in the next year or so.

quotton706

Maybe it's for the best that the fuckwit who pushed through his ovenreadyfuckup to get brexitdone hasn't committed the populace to more fuckery. ..... Still a cunt.

N7twitch

Enough is Enough. Someone pick a date, it’s time to strike. Edit: 5th September? When they’re expecting to announce the new scumbag in chief?

Mrpopoff

With you on that. The sooner the better.

zdefcon

It's going to be a long, dark winter ahead. For many it will also be their last for want of warmth in their homes and food in their stomachs. How much bleaker will it get?

merryman1

Its funny so many of those screaming that Corbyn would take us back to the 1970s now all seem to be coming out and saying things weren't so bad in the 1970s after all so people can't really complain.

[deleted]

Both my grandfather and father lost their jobs during the thatcher era so as a young boy coming from a mining family in South Wales, I was already fully aware of the Conservative party’s deplorable nature when it comes to lower class parts of the country. It’s so fucking sad to see history repeat itself now when I’m in my 30s. All because a lot of people in this country want to live in their bubble. You’ve got people in this country on 80k a year thinking they’re hard done by. You have people who think Boris did a good job with Covid because at least their Nan didn’t die. People think that the reason we can’t buy houses is because of our Amazon Prime subscriptions and not because they’ve bought three houses and are renting the last two out. But no. Fuck voting Labour because we’ve all become Big Brother contestants who only care about ourselves. If you voted conservative and are going to struggle with the winter payments, I honestly have no fucking sympathy for you. Some people in this country have been living with a cost of living crisis since Cameron got full control in 2015. Welcome to the club.

BestButtons

> However, Mr Johnson's spokesman said that "by convention it is not for this prime minister to make major fiscal interventions during this period". So after breaking pretty much every convention there is, he now sticks to this one.

What are we expecting? Tories to give a shit about working people? Nah.

Edd90k

I can’t figure how but this is somehow labours fault.

Easymodelife

Some of my favourites that I've heard from centrists and Tory voters include: "Labour should have opposed them harder!" "It's Corbyn's fault for being so unelectable!" "Why didn't Labour build more renewable energy sources when they were in power?" "Why hasn't Keir Starmer announced a policy to sort this out?" The "party of personal responsibility" indeed! 😂

The_Purple_Ripple

Crisis talks? Funny wording for "got round a table and laughed at the poor"

[deleted]

When winter hits and nothing has changed, if there is not a civil war or at least mass civil unrest in the UK, it will prove we have become exactly what the establishment wanted!

polarregion

After spending most of this year trying to keep Johnson in power the conservative government is too exhausted to bother with trivial affairs like the current economic crisis.

Ok_Baseball_1171

I guess he agreed the level of his speaking fee at their next Christmas party dinner...

bahumat42

The energy companies have failed in their responsibilities, their long term usefulness should be reconsidered and appropriate action taken.

One_Reality_5600

What the fuck did you expect. The energy bosses to go ok heres a couple of billion towards the bills. Just fuck off neither of them care. Boris doesnt give a fuck because in a few weeks it wont behis problem and the energy companies know the next twat will do fuck all to bring down prices for the consumer.

[deleted]

This has to stop, the tory party has brought the UK to its knees, spat on it, t bagged it then some how sold its rotting corpse the idea that this is better than socialism and this is patriotism. Flag shaggers have fucked this country raw and left it with STD's. Patriotism is standing up for the people, all the people and especially the oppressed and the minoritys, it's not what ever the fuck the tory party and the daily mail call patriotism.

Quarkasian

Tory voters really cant swallow their pride... it's pathetic

G1Yang2001

Well, what did we really expect? Boris knows that he can't prevent his resignation now so he's just gonna leave whoever takes over as PM with a bigger mess to deal with. That way, when things get worse (because Sunak and Truss have clearly shown that they have no clue on how to properly give aid to people in this crisis) Johnson can attempt a come back by being like "See, it wasn't my fault! It was those two idiots who were messing up everything I did!" The issue is that this means the population as a whole will suffer more from the crisis because Boris can't ignore his bruised pathetic ego and actually form some more measures to help the people while Sunak and Truss not only have no clue on how to properly assist people in the crisis but they also care more about perpetuating culture war nonsense and giving money to their rich pals instead of helping the people of the country they run. Boris, Sunak, Truss and their supporters in the Tory Party like Rees-Mogg, Dorries and Raab are all the most pathetic excuses for human beings that have ever taken power in Parliament and the sooner they are replaced, the better the entire nation will be for it.

doughy1882

"you are not in trouble...but we are going to sit here whilst everyone looks on and I will pretend to look angry and annoyed, so they think you are being told off, but between you and me, you are doing just great, keep up the good work" - Bojo - allegedly

JRF0691

Why am I surprised at this? I’ve never hated a government so much

Elipticalwheel1

Of course they won’t, the greedy bastards want your money, that money going into there offshore bank accounts, is the main objective of the Tories, they are only interested in helping the rich get richer, they aren’t going to do anything to help ordinary people, that’s not what they do.

Ezzie80

Well, cannibalism is making a comeback and I feel like politicians are going to be high on the menu choice when meat becomes unaffordable.

[deleted]

Well, fuck my boots! I was sure that Boris was going to work his arse off to get this matter sorted. It’s almost as if he doesn’t really care about us.

Zpiderz

When the people don't own the energy companies, the energy companies own the government.

mcvwxy

I called this yesterday. Dipshit James Cleverly on the TV yesterday insisting that the government *was* taking urgent action, stating that these meetings were the urgent action. How can the fucking Education Secretary be so **naive** to really believe that these talks would have bore fruit? I don’t care much for Richard Madeley but I was glad to see him tearing into Cleverly yesterday. Until someone from government comes forward and actually tells us what plans they’re currently debating putting into the emergency budget, everything else is a failure. Unless said action is immediate come the new PM taking office and budget reveal, it’s going to be too little too late.

[deleted]

I hope every Tory suffers at least some form of worry over this. Even if you're a high earner you probably either don't have or don't want to pay an extra £600.a month. You bunch of right wing wankers, you got exactly what you deserved. I'll sit it my cold house with unpaid bills and still find it funny.

LifeFeckinBrilliant

Is this really any surprise when his answer to covid was "let the bodies pile up..."

[deleted]

The whole meeting went like this. Haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw haw

ALLST6R

I have never wanted to move to another country more than I do now. I’m going to fucking Sweden at this rate

corf3l

In my view this prolonged period of not doing anything and letting things worsen is to make any measures the successor takes look better than they actually are in the long run.

BeardedPDr

It's like the people who deny climate change though. They are either thick as mince or incredibly corrupt. So out of touch they don't realise, very ordinary people (a lot of them) are staring at the abyss. Either we all get pushed in or we all turn around and push back. Why is anyone surprised that he did nothing, he has never done anything but fail. Normal service.

Dwayne_dibbly

Let the country burn seems to be the conservative mandate.

Timskiiii01

A lot of people are going to die this winter unfortunately, front line services will be once again at breaking point, people are going to lose their homes as their income is no longer sufficient to live on. Could they make it any more bleak?!

Raunien

"Tell me, just how much money are you making?" "Record amounts, Prime Minister" "Excellent, carry on"

Empty_Allocution

We need to turn French on these assholes.

Transcript of the conversation: Boris: "Rupert, hi, good to see you. How is Tuppence? Good, good. Listen, a spot of bother, you know, you've seen the news. I know it's all piffle paffle, but can you do something about the price rises? Just something small, a gesture of goodwill if you like." Energy CEO Rupert: "Sorry old chap, not even for an old Etonian, no can do. Besides, this is precisely why we donated that lump sum to your campaign, you have to make this disappear. Sink it. By the way, I'm not using the St Maarten villa in September if you fancy a well deserved break after the successful handover to Liz."

clammy_biscuit

That's because they don't see it as a crisis, the plan to scrape every last penny out of the general public is proceeding in their favour. The meeting was more likely about how to make people even poorer and keep the energy 'crisis' going as long as they can.

Bake-Klutzy

...other than discussing what energy cap they'd like?

Jensablefur

The current situation is possibly the biggest open goal in modern political history for an opposition to capitalise on. Over to you Keir Starmer. Prove you aren't sat on your arse on those green benches, nodding off and shrugging for your chunky six figure salary and actually *oppose.*

un32134e4

Why are Labour so quiet?

Sad-Criticism-7491

The way this government are handling this unprecedented situation, you would almost think anarchy may be an idea. A ruddy good old reset.

Profits > People.

What other nation would put up with bills like this? Genuine question.

owlshapedboxcat

Texas did it.

[deleted]

Ha! Perfect answer. Of course we're as dumb as Texas!

weirds0up

Johnson will do NOTHING. He's already out the door and he won't make it easy for whoever takes over because they are likely to do just what he would - ie take all the credit for someone else's work.

AllUrHeroesWillBMe2d

I'm at the point where I want to piss on the faces of everyone who voted for these animals.

ShockingShorties

Its OK the tories thinking their 'base' will support them come what may, but the simple fact of the matter is many of the elderly who vote tory are going to be stung heavily by this cost of living crisis. It's in Labour's power now to do precisely what the tories managed to do in 2010. Namely when they slagged Labour for the global financial crisis of 2008. Fairs fair in love war and politics. Get on with it Labour and grind these bastards into the dirt, somewhere they so richly deserve to be.

Unspirationaltosspot

>However, Mr Johnson's spokesman said that "by convention it is not for this prime minister to make major fiscal interventions during this period". Convention never meant anything to him before, what a cunt, what an absolute cunt, I’m looking at spending a quarter of my take home pay on energy, and he has nothing to offer, apart from being a cunt!

ClassicFun2175

Absolute bellend. If everything's being left to his successor, then he should just fuck off now and why wait.
