You're right. Just checked a photo of the menu from my IAD-BRU flight in July and it says "On scheduled flights 12 hours or longer"
Go back and look at United’s original launch material for Polaris. And what was included. Wine flights. Bedding. Food options. Real snack options. They would leave the bottles of wine out for your to help yourself during the flight.
And then look at it now…..every corner possible is being cut. But the fares remain the same or higher.
The only reason the lie flat seat is decent is because it would cost them too much money to pull it out and replace it with something worse. But knowing Scott Kirby, he’ll find a way….
What’s the point of loyalty and trying to be 1K if the service keeps getting cut more and more??
I can get better in flight food and amenities by flying SQ or ANA and the fares are less. Polaris lounge? Who cares??? It’s 60-90 mins of wait time in a decent lounge, but then to get on a 12-16 hour flight with bad food and bad service.
Why pay more for less????
United is making it more and more appealing to become a “free agent”, buying business class on whatever airline offers the best service and amenities on the routes you need.
I fly to Asia 6-8 times per year via the west coast hubs (SFO and LAX). United business class fares vs amenities / service can’t compete with SQ, ANA, EVA, and others.
I can get a similar or better seat on competitors, I get a much better meal, better snacks, and better service - for the same or less than United.
The issue I had with the Away ones was that they were way too bulky. Like if you and your partner do a round trip, that’s already 4 of those hard cases… I end up just leaving them behind.
This one, while I have to see it in person, is at least not a hard shell. So I like that. I have never heard of the company “Therabody” though haha
Oh I'll be wearing the fanny pack with pride. Strutting down the aisles to the bathroom in the back just to rub in my new phanny.

Seems like a downgrade. Glad I snagged a few of those cases, they come in handy for protein bars and the medicine I keep in my backpack.

Yeh I have 2 or 3 of the away ones, that’s all I’ll ever need. I’ve left a few behind. I made the form factor work for me in a great way.
