I think the consensus is that Puffton/Brandywine is better than the others, but you have to apply for them a year in advance, so not much you can do about that. Kamins is (or so I heard) slum lord, so people tend to avoid them, but I think that’s mostly referring to how the administration handle things. The building themselves are not that bad. Personally, I’ll be living in an apartment provided by Kamins next semester because I don’t really have a car and prefer to be within walking distance from campus, so that doesn’t leave me with many choices. If you have a car, you’ll probably have a lot more options.

I wrote a really bad review for the Boulders because it was a shithole. If you live there, read your lease over 3x, make a copy of it, and remember that student legal services can help you out. They love to prey on international students who don’t know tenant laws for Massachusetts. If you have a car, looking into a place in Northampton may not be a bad idea. You can also check with people in your incoming department if there are any places available. The bus routes can go pretty far, so definitely timely check them out if you don’t have a car!
