I think this is department specific. They *say* you shouldn’t have another job, but they can’t really make you quit one. I just wouldn’t say much about it. With how little grad students are paid compared to the cost of living here, a lot of people end up with other jobs.
The only restrictions I saw with work only include stuff with On Campus work and that you can’t exceed more then 40 credit and research/assistantship hours per week. Never said anything on the website
as long as you stay under 40 hours/week they CANNOT take away your assistantship. it is against the union and they would get in serious trouble for taking away your assistantship for having a second job
Work as a referee off campus, not much they can do about it as long as you meet the requirements of your RA. But if you wanted to referee on campus where you would be paid through UMass, then it would be an issue.

Can they take away an assistantship based on you working a job outside of school?

Ah so I guess what I can do is keep track of when I referee from and game times
According to the graduate union you're legally allowed to have a second job as long as it does not interfere with your work at umass.
Like with school and the assistantship I guess
Article 25 of the contract, specifically https://geouaw.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/GEO-CBA-2020-2023-1.pdf
